I think because they already calculated how much it would come up to due to the contract, they didn’t even bother to offer anything because really $36 isn’t really that much 🤷🏾♀️
@@stephaniehowe0973 The standard moving contract covers at 60 cents a pound. Insurance will cover a lot more than that, but it's very complicated with several exemptions. I looked it up. It's so convoluted & there's so many exceptions that it's no wonder people don't often pay extra for it.

Can you move a fridge with food still in it?! No, you take the food out and the fridge is lighter to move, so that's probably what happened, either way she's not getting a whole New jewelry box on someone else's dime when she couldn't bother to pack everything Properly herself

It’a ALWAYSSSS.. “it’s on a different phone” or “I got a new phone” “I deleted all the messages” I work for a moving company and anything we see broke before we move we make the shipper come look at it right then before we touch it and we take photos. Plus we inventory everything that goes on the truck and write down damages before it goes on truck as well. They are a knock off company. He sucks
I have been a white glove mover for a long time normally moving anything especially something of value or antique if I notice it is broken I will take a pic amd just save it until after the move and let them know that the item is broken or ill make a note saying it's broken here but The problem is with moving it's yours and ourstuff has immense sentimental value to value to us but in the real world it's really not worth that much sometimes so people get mixed up with the sentiment to value and actual value and you do come across a lot of really eccentric borderline is berline insane all part of the job

She seems sweet but she did lie about a few things. She says she contacted him the next day but there was evidence she didn’t. She says she never saw a contract but she signed it.. the judge didn’t high light those lies but I think she might be one of those women who are very picky about things and expect over compensation. Not saying he was innocent in this, either. He didn’t want to take responsibility for what is clearly his fault.
...My movers broke my jewelry box too, but I didn't try to make them pay. I have a a five foot jewelry box with a mirrored front that opens to a jewelry storage cabinet, and it sits on four six inch legs. One of the legs was broken in the move, and it was 'snapped' completely off with a jagged break. After that incident, I just wanted their asses the hell out my house, so I paid them and used a wooden splint and gorilla wood glue and fixed it myself. ....BUT I ATE THEIR SORRY ASSES UP ON YELP!!! lolololol!

I feel for this lady but at the same time that jewelry box didn’t look like it was worth $40 let alone $400. It kinda looked like it was made of a laminate or particle board with that faux wood look. I could be wrong. Another thing is those 2 girls on the left behind Harvey were so dopey that it was painful to watch them. Why go on that part of the show when everyone knows that Harvey is gonna be throwing that mic around in everyone’s faces for their opinions and then just not say anything. In my opinion what they did looked dumber then if they actually spoke and gave a dopey opinion.

I have one exactly like that, even the "ornamental" piece on the bottom is exactly the same. Purchased at Walmart in the late 90's for less than 100.00
I think someone in the house walked by the laid down box and either banged hard on a leg or tripped a bit and put their weight down, breaking that front panel that attached the front legs. Number one, it can soooo easily be fixed. Second $400??! Those are sold in Odd Lot stores and the like for a small percentage of that! It didn't look like some antique/custom-made piece to me that would warrant a value near that.
Either the contract is forged, and that lady did not sign that document. Or this guy has poor customer service and Buisness moral for not offering to give her the $36 without having to come to court. It’s not like your moving employee is going to say “yeah we broke it”. I mean seriously, going back and forth for $36 for something your guys likely did is just disrespectful 😒

Buy the coverage so you get more than the law. Also, it be kinda dic*ish if he walked outside and saw the plaintiff then pulled $36 in cash out his wallet and said “here ya go; my bad” lollllllllllll
My problem at the moment is watching these shows and other shows in the same sitting. I watched a couple of episodes of the British Dragons Den then this, narrator talks about a 60 pound Jewellery Box and is sueing for $400, since when is 60 British pounds equal $400. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
