Always a nice surprise when you pop up on the UA-cam feed, would have never know Dan Henry had a new release nice to see they're still doing their theme. Have you seen the smiths prs-25, Everest?
Thanks for the review! As much as my collection pretty much revolves around mechanical watches, I would probably take the 37 mm diver with the Meca Quartz for this Dan Henry Model. Gives you a pretty decent sweep of the hand and quartz accuracy for less money than the mechanical
Great review of Dan Henry's homage to the Omega Admiralty. The white dial version would make an excellent summer watch, especially on a white rubber strap. QC on the auto dial was poor, however and the bracelet looks awful. In quartz on rubber, perhaps a reasonable price for an accurate homage to a fairly unknown Omega skin diver.
Ya the auto took me by surprise especially after seeing how clean the Quartz was. Wanted an omega admiralty many times but this isn’t a bad half measure!
This is one of the few releases that I honestly cannot pick a colorway. They are all VERY good, I can't decide white with steel or orange with steel and I know myself, no matter which one I chose I'd regret not getting one or all of the others. Thankfully (or not) I'm taking a break after going WAY too hard earlier in the year so I'll maybe pick one up later. Great review as always. And I hope your hand heals, I heard about that bar fight, wow man. ;D
You should see the other guy haha! And I completely agree they did the colors fantastically and I’m someone who typically hates orange. Really well done all around and hopefully they’ll be some kicking around when the stars align for you!
Hey I really appreciate this review best one I have seen all points covered on this. Only a follow up question now you own both if you could go back would you have 2 quartz ( 1 guilt + 1 white ) ? Just wondering what your preference is to the auto vs quartz here. Thx
Well done. I didn't order a cool watch, but I did try to order a tan Vario vintage distressed Italian leather strap! Wanted to try it out on a certain 36mm field watch. And if anyone is looking for curved spring bars, the Windup Watch Shop has nice ones. Just sayin.
Hi, great thorough review, very detailed. I have 6 3/8" wrist and I'm torn between the 37 and 39 white steel quartz. Concerned about the size of the 39mm in case it is too large. My daily is a seiko sarb033. Also the issue of the straps fitting the 37mm as you point out. Would you go for 37 or 39, any opinion you have would be helpful.
My wrist is slightly smaller than yours at 6.5in so I think the 39 will wear perfectly fine. Having had a sarb I think this feels and wears a little smaller overall so you’ll be good!
Thank you Michael. And the white I liked a lot more I’m person that I thought I would. If I could keep them all I would be forever unsatisfied is the watch collector!
Good detailed review. Thanks 😊 The bracelet is a big miss. Too bad the lume is so weak. Other than that, I do really like the auto date dual sapphire options👍🏻 Hopefully, the QC issues you have detailed are isolated.
Very interesting. Btw I would take the quartz version (the low beat rate of the second hand fits better with the vintage look) and avoid the bracelet because its design is too modern and it does not pair good with the watch
So as someone with a 7.5" or so wrist would this be a bad idea to go for? Usually don't try to go below 40 but 39 seems to be doable, but I'm worried if this wears that much smaller than it seems. I absolutely love the explorer 2 style colors.
It can be very hit or miss I think. If your not used to wearing let’s say a 38mm watch, this Dan Henry will feel much smaller than your used to. If that’s something you can overlook for the style and the price then go for it. If you genuinely don’t think you can go that small than it might not be for you.
I bought this, and I hardly buy micro brand watches. It should be arriving tomorrow, the gilt dial version. You just hardly ever see this 1970s skin diver style anymore. I couldn't pass it up. My version was the mecha quartz. Combined with the overall looks, it just screams vintage. The only problem is I think they made the gilt numerals on the bezel too dark because they get washed out in certain lights. Perhaps they should have taken the Seiko approach and made the bezel numerals a brighter shade of gold.
Hope you enjoy it! I do like how the bezel is done. It feels very premium but, it isn’t the most functional. A brighter gold probably wouldn’t diminished the shimmer effect but definitely wouldn’t been more legible. We’ll see if they change it if they iterate.
Could go either way for sure. Maybe it’s just a choice of if you want the auto, go 39 since that’s the only size. I think the 39 would probably fit you pretty well.
Hey X! Question. I’m planning to get my wife with a 37mm. She has a 5.75” wrist, are the rubber straps too long to accommodate her wrist size? You mentioned that you were on the last hole on one of the models… was thinking of getting her something like a 36mm Breitling Super Ocean but this seems like a better choice haha.
Great review! Very thorough, covers all the details I care about. And I didn't even have a slightest urge to watch it on 2x.

Thank you! And I have seen it I just don’t like the hassle of trying to order one 😂
Really helpful and clear description and demonstration of the sizing. Nice job!
Great review!

Completely agree. I think value for money the Quartz is a great option here too. And mecha Quartz is fun to see
Beautiful watch. I think this one is on my list for the new year.
Great review, I was curious to hear about this model
Thank you! Hope it helped
Nice review, thanks for the effort, I have been looking at this watch.
Thank you and hopefully I helped!

Good to know about windup! And I think you’ll love the vario strap. I can put it on nearly anything and it looks pretty great
Looks ok curved spring bars are great I have to use with my old rotary elite not sure watch at this price point should be charging $80 for a bracelet
Very detailed review, the lug holes issue of the 37mm is very relevant.
Good looking watches, great sizes.
Thanks for watching! The lug holes situation definitely surprised me

I have to say I kinda like the white one. Too bad about the strap. Good to know that before buying. Cheers! Good review.

Agreed the bracelet is a big weak point but it’s a cool watch overall. As you said hopefully the quick on average is better.

If you had to pick one would you go for the 37 or 39 overall now?
Probably the 39 depends on if you want it to feel dressy or sporty I would say. And of course wrist size but for most the 39 is great
Does anyone here know the size of the clasp? Is it 18mm? What does the bracelet taper down to?

Thx for the review. Got the white with white bezel : disappointed, as the bezeil is more greyish than really white : spoils the look IMO
That was a fear I had with the white bezel from the picture so that’s why I went with the steel. Hope you can work it out on your end!
@@theknightswatch You probably made the right choice (with the colour) :)
👍👍
I'm begging my wife to get this for me for X-Mas. I have a small 6.25" wrist, so a 37mm mechaquartz, in orange, on a bracelet is my ideal watch.
I’ll be hoping it lands under your tree!
