    Shri Rudram is an ancient Vedic text and part of the Krishna Yajurveda. It is a powerful hymn in praise of Rudra, or Shiva. In the mystical tradition, Shiva represents the consciousness within everything, the pure essence within all, referred to in the Hindu scriptures as Sat Chit Ananda: truth, consciousness and bliss. It is in Shri Rudram that the great five syllable mantra, Om Namah Shivaya is first mentioned.
    You might simply listen to the chant during meditation or you could chant along. The vibrations of the chant purify the atmosphere and mind, fill your being with peace and vigor, bestow protection, and coupled with a pure intention, have the power to grant your wishes, including liberation.
    This album is a labor of love and 100% of the proceeds are being donated to a worthy charitable cause. May the practice of chanting the Shri Rudram bring you countless blessings.

    At 20:50, the "Rudra Chamakam" begins. A very powerful incantation. This "Chamakam"-part of the "Sri Rudra" chant is composed of 11 so-called "anuvakas" (verses). Every verse has different specific aspects and depending on where in your natal chart Saturn is positioned, a different anuvaka might be best in order to protect you against the negative aspects of Saturn. The 3rd anuvaka though is a "one-fits-all" and often prescribed by Brahmin priests and Jyôtish astrologers for general use. Here, it starts at minute 22:50 (until minute 23:42). It is said to give the energy and courage to overcome all obstacles, and to protect one from the sufferings caused by Saturn. If you manage to recite it 11 times in a row, daily, for 40 days in a row, at the same time of day, it has the ability to literally change your life. I experienced this first-handedly this year. As a consequence, I recite it every day since early March 2020 upon awakening. It is truly transformative. As Neem Karoli Baba said: "Ram nam karne se sab pura ho jata.” (Everything is accomplished/revealed by repeating the holy names; he was talking of the god Ram, but it holds true for all 'revealed' names).

      Late reply, but Hinduism is not a religion rather a way of life. You can be a Christian or a Muslim & still be a hindu. Sanatana Dharma is the original name of our ancient universal tradition. Follow your dharma to the path of righteousness. Love & preserve all life forms no matter how small & you will start noticing god in everything, in every atom. Greetings!!

Alex you can convert in some organisations. Don't be fooled by this people they are always demeaning Hinduism unknowingly. One can't take Hinduism's teaching and use it in any other Religion. @bunneh87 You summed it up pretty well. Hinduism has no specific beliefs & can mean different things to everyone who practices it.There is no conversion process in Hinduism, one cannot get baptized in holy waters or recite a shahada (bearing witness & testifying of Allah being the true god) and call himself a Hindu. Most of the Dharmic religions originated from Hinduism like Buddhism, Jainism & Sikhism. Most of the ancient Indo- European religions originated from Hinduism as well like the Greeks or the Norse mythologies. Hindus are seekers and not blind believers. You have the free will to follow what ever you want to reach your conclusions. Every man has his own path & means to travel to his destiny!

    I love the rudram so much. It is chanted daily in Ramana Mahashi Ashram in Tamil Nadu by very young Brahmins and also in Muktananda ashram in Ganeshpuri near Mumbai. I can only follow along as they go so fast but this is the right speed for me. There are a few very slight variations to the text but only the holding of a very few vowels a little longer.A Brahmin may find more than I can as a westerner but I have chanted it for 40 years and this is my favourite version. I meditate at the end after chanting along. It makes my day divine. Thanks for this sublime opportunity on UA-cam

    Hinduism to me is easy to understand as I come from catholic background and we believe in many saints and ask for help for different problems and intercessions and assistance but there is one God, however God cannot be explained and seen with the naked eye but felt with the heart. Even if it rains a little, I can't tolerate even a lil amount of cold or chillness, always having chilling and feverish tendencies. Due to extreme bullying back at school, I drank a chemical from lab. That's it. Even before that, I am inactive in any sports like activity. Even if run for a while, I will be having shortage of breath. Randomly seeing your comment gave me a stint of hope. That's why I asked. I am 24 but I feel so like 14, idk why...I cause deep trouble to myself and those around me. I feel I am ruining things. I am basically an introvert. It has the çiva païcäkñaré mantra at its centre.Rudra, the divine aspect of Lord Shiva, is the powerful Guru whogoads His disciples to overcome inimical forces, triumph over enemiesand rise up to fulfill the obligations of life and go beyond. What appearsinitially to be a prayer for worldly benefits alone, as we delve deeper,slowly unfolds its true depth.-Nithyananda Paramahamsa

      It's all within you. The universe and you are one. All Hinduism wants you is to realise yourself, you were there eons ago,you are now ,you will be there eons after. The spirit lives on in different forms. Sanskrit is just the best language to feel that connection. If you are a speaker of an European language it is intrinsic within you to feel the beauty of Sanskrit, it created those languages.

Also, fire alters like hindus use have been found at Lothal in Gujrat(indus valley civilization) and figure of Pashupati or proto-shiva, who is quite like Aryan shiva, as well as figures of Mother goddess have been found(rebutting patriarchal system). Even going by "aryan" vedas, Aditi has been described as the Supreme Goddess, the mother of Gods.

    The Vedic accentuation (the high and low pitches, namely udatta and anudatta) has been perfectly adhered to in this chanting. However, the speaker pronounces the ण as न.
    Also, an interesting fact, Vedic sanskrit had the /f/ sound which occurred rarely.. this sound is called the upadhmānīya and occurred when a /p/ sound followed a visarga (अः). And this hymn is from the Yajurveda so it had that sound as well. So for example at 10:09 it is written as namah pūrvajāya-ca (नमः पूर्वजाय च) but pronounced more like "namaf pūrvajāya-ca. See the chanting by Challekere brothers they have adhered to this.

Atham rudra mathi sathi..which means, our soul is athma or consciousness it rudra or shiva and mathi means our thinking and mind is devi sathi..they always coexists..called ardanarishwara. To all those who claim God seas the heart and pronunciation do not matter - If you believe that God sees only the heart and does not care on what you chant how you chant why at all bother chanting from an Ancient Veda. You can simply say Shiva or nothing at all and think of Him.
    That is path of Bhakthi. How ever Vedic path is different.
    If you want to follow a Vedic path and chant a Veda Mantra then do it properly as advised by the professionals who have spent a life time on such matters. If such professionals felt pronunciation does not matter - they would have told so, Instead they have committed countess generations of vedic Pandits to learn these mantras by heart for so many years on oral traditions from Gurus so chanting is perfected to yield the desired results.
    So let us not sit in front of a computer with half baked knowledge and start making judgments on the conclusion of eminent professionals and declare that pronunciation does not matter in Vedic chanting First prove in real life experience that pronunciation does not matter then start making comments.

      +Mani G just a food for thought. would it mean westerners with varied accents could never attain moksha by vedic path?

    • @gstapal
      @gstapal 8 років тому +7

      +Divyanshu Shandilya
      My understanding is that whether westerners or orientals, if they need to chant vedas, they need to chant exactly as it was supposed to be chanted . No exceptions as mantras are sound based .

    • @q.a.t3432
      @q.a.t3432 8 років тому +2

      +Divyanshu Shandilya There is no concept as "varied accents". These "westerners" have no trouble pronouncing & expressing sounds in their own tongue which should be a strong basis of improvement. Yet the issue is not the language which they desire to acquire but their lack of ability to recognise sounds. Many a times they utilise/manipulate said rules to perfectly pronounce a word of their own tongue with ease yet when it appears of another tongue then all difficulties befall them. Some fruit for thought. If their is sincerity then all prior incapacity will be removed & replaced by steadfastness & perseverance. When we continually lower ourselves the summit will be a distant aspiration. Give yourself & others more credibility; for we have all been well endowed.
      Peace.

      There is a reason for every pronunciation which has been tested. Every deep breath you take in while saying namó does a reaction to your soul, let alone ur body.
      Pronunciation is important.
      If you don't make effort to get this right, then it's simply more efficient to do nàmjap.

      onkar karambe In the name of shiva, I refuse to believe this lie. God sees your heart, if we chant it with pure DEVOTION and FAITH mantra WILL work, just like mantras worked in my life. I used to be depressed, I used to cut myself, I used to be addicted in bad things - I once tried to chant mantras and my life totally changed. I have even seen lord shiva once, when he appeared in the middle of night in front of me. Believe me or don't believe. It doesnt change the fact that God is merciful and full of compassion.

    The Pitch & Pronunciation is very important when you chant Vedic Mantras esp Rudram. The pitch and pronunciation brings in postive energy when you chant correctly all mantras.

      There is no need to please any God, except an arrogant one :) Sanskrit is all about pronunciation. Meaning is not of much importance while chanting a sanskrit mantra, but all the stress is on pronunciation. The proper pronunciation induces vibrations that are conducive to kundalini awakening for a person who may/ may not have as much faith but just has the required openness. For the one who is already in Bhakti state, nothing is required. But that state of love is very, very, very rare. For everyone else, there is Yoga and Mantra.

    This is one of the best Shri Rudram chants I have ever heard. I was lucky to study Rudram with Veda Teacher, who goes couple of times each year to study with some of best learned Pundits... Most of chants are intense and this one is rare example of calm yet quite exact pronounciation...So Thank You uploader, it suits very well my sensitive mind. Om Namo Bhagavate Rudraya, Hari Om.
