  • Just a demonstration! Depending on where you get your beads they may be lighter or heavier than what I have in the video. Weighing is more precise! There is more room for error if you are measuring by volume. I measure by volume and have had no issue (yet) with 1/2 cup beads for every tablespoon of fragrance oil, it comes out to an 8:2 ratio, to achieve the same ratio by weight it would be 2oz of beads to 1/2oz fragrance oil. These numbers will not make a whole batch, I minimized them for video purposes. In a pint jar I use 1.5 cups of beads and 3 tablespoons of oil......in weight that would be near or close to 6 weighted ounces of beads and 1.5 weighted ounces of oil!

    I wonder that if you had used an actual half cup measuring cup if it might be different for the amount of beads.

    Good morning! Love your videos and advice..beautiful work..im getting ready to make some and sell at a show..but have no idea what they sell for..do you make them to sell and would you mind sharing how much they go for? Thank you!

      Hello! Thank you ☺️ Yes I sell them. Most of mine are priced at $8, I have one design that I sell for $10. I’ve seen prices range from $5 to $15. It varies based on size, how many colors, extra decorations, etc. It can also depend on your area! I think a good rule of thumb is to price them what you need to. If it’s just a single color on a string it would be in the $5-$6 range but if it’s multiple colors and hand painted with bows I definitely say the price goes up to the $8-$12 range.

    I’ve purchased beads from four different places and I haven’t had the best luck. Some melt to much and some take longer to cook. Some beads hold my scent better while others don’t. If you are willing to share I would love to know your experience and where is the best location to buy beads.

      I’ve only ordered beads from two different companies, the first being Scentimental Gifts and the second being Lonestar Candle Supply. They were both very similar in quality and cook time. The only difference that I noticed was that after baking the ones from SG were more firm and the ones from LCS were more flexible or had a rubber type feel to them. I would recommend either, I order from LCS because I’m in Texas so the shipping is really quick. I’m in a group on Facebook and a lot of the ladies recommend Stay Fresh With Peanut (which I’m going to try soon) and Buy It Ship It. They all say with BISI the beads bake really quick so you have to cook them lower and/or for less time so they don’t over bake. If you have Facebook search “Aroma Beads & Freshie help, tips and support”. Everybody shares really great information on there and it’s a good place to go if you have questions!

      @@FarmhouseDesigns thanks so much for sharing all this info ❤️ I will look into both of those. Love Stay fresh with peanut and use a lot of their oils just haven’t found beads that I love yet. Hopefully one of these will be it. Best of luck to you 😊

      @@FarmhouseDesigns I’ve tried to join the group, but unfortunately since my Facebook is brand new they won’t accept me 😕.... I am not really one to be on facebook so I made one just for my freshies and no group will accept me I think they think I am a spam account. Any who I was just wondering is it better to cook the beads as soon as they dry or leave them for an extra week. Some of my freshies haven’t been smelling as strong as I would like.

      @@betberes442 That’s unfortunate 😕 I wonder if there’s some way you can message and admin. Everybody seems to say the same thing, let them sit for an additional 7-10 days after they dry. I’ve also heard people say the longer the better and they start their fall beads right now, I can’t buy enough beads just yet to afford to let them sit for months but I have started waiting at least 7 days and I already notice a difference!

    I have a question. If my fresh aroma beads smell like Elmer’s glue can I still go ahead and soak and bake them? Will the smell go away?

    Thank you so much for your videos! I'm getting ready to make my first set of freshies..just to be sure ..you use 1 1/2 cup of beads and 3 tablespoons of fragrance oil? Also curious to how much you would sell them for as I will be selling mine..thank you!

      You’re welcome!......sorry for the late reply 😐 Yes, that is correct! I sell mine for $8 but I’ve seen prices vary anywhere from $5 to $15.....it can depend on your market or where you plan to sell them (online, craft fairs, wholesale for stores, etc)

    Question, when measuring weight of oil, did you weigh it in oz or fl oz?

    • @FarmhouseDesigns
      @FarmhouseDesigns  3 роки тому

      I measure just weighted ounces not fl oz, honestly I don’t know how they weigh differently…..maybe I should play around with my scale to see. I’ve seen some debate on oz vs fl oz, some do it one way and some do it the other…..just the regular oz setting has worked well for me.

    • @FarmhouseDesigns
      @FarmhouseDesigns  3 роки тому

      Just did a little test. Used one of my fragrance bottles, weighed it on regular oz and it weighed 7.8 oz, on fl oz it weighs 7.5……so not much of a difference. I think if you weigh both the beads and the oils on the same setting you’ll be fine.

    I thought u suppose to measure liquid and solid diff anyways like in food. That’s y for solid u measure by cups and and fragrance u put the glass them cup are already calculated to measure volume with out having to use the scale. RIGHT? The 8:2 seems right without having to use the scale unless you are doing big batches

    • @FarmhouseDesigns
      @FarmhouseDesigns  3 роки тому

      The most accurate way to measure is with the scale for both the beads and the oil. The beads have been tested to see how much they absorb and in that testing they used weight for both measurements. You’ll see that most sites that sell the beads list that they hold up to 30% their weight in oil. The purpose of this video was just to show that although there is a different between weight and volume it’s not a huge difference and if using the amounts I did you will stay between the 8:1 ratio and 8:2
