Clouds live from a two night Christmas event with The Cruel Sea, Clouds, Killing Time and Beasts of Bourbon held by the Red Eye label at the Phoenician Club, Sydney, in December 1991.
The Clouds always had a fantastic guitar sound.
This was a great night. Loved the Phonicean Club ❤ and of course The Clouds.
Wow - just turned 50 - I was at this gig. Loved Trish Young - she signed my Penny Century T-Shit 😂
It was just after my HSC - guessing early December- they played Mac Uni the week after
Ah, the Phoenician Club, so so many great gigs. I lost count of how many times I saw Clouds, a lot of the time with Falling Joys, Hummingbirds, and many others, more than once at the Phoenician. The venue was notable for many a few big milestones, the first time Jeff Buckley came to Australia he played there (we were unprepared for how incredible he was), the first time Silverchair ever played in Sydney when they were just kids they played there, that was before they got big, they weren't even headlining. And of course it was later made infamous by the death of Anna Wood. A very sad business that eventually partially contributed to its demise as a venue, although the industry had moved on and it become a dance party venue by that stage, the live gigs had become few and far between. I have many great memories of the Phoenician Club, it was a fantastic time in music history, grunge was emerging but Sydney had its own thing going on and I feel privileged to have been a part of it.
Best Phoenicians gig i saw (and there were so many great ones) was TISM... with artists working away on the higher stage sections

Such a treat see them in Castlemaine this year…

Kind of discombobulating to see a gig I remember so well looking exactly as it did at the time..do any Clouds fans have a date for the gig they did at the 3 Weeds supporting The Hummingbirds..? I believe it was with their first guitarist 89-90..?
