Is it common that they don't cover exposed food when there's work being done in the box? I get that it might not be warranted if it's just wiring and sensor stuff, but literally tearing stuff out where plastic and metal slivers could go anywhere? Nice work on the fix, your experience really shows in how pretty much no time was wasted.
If we're worried about anything it gets moved. While it may look messy it's really not. Kind of comes with experience. When you cut off stranded wire leave a small piece of jacket. Holds the strands together on the cut off piece. If we were doing something heavier like say replacing the coil, we move everything out from under the work zone and to the opposite side and if we have to work around something we use plastic. Same for cleaning the coil.
