It's time to install the engine and you now you have some decisions to make. What subframe to use? How does engine and transmission affect your options? We're installing a K24A2 with a TSX transmission, but there are other choices too. K20A2 with RSX Type S trans the 2012 Civic Si transmission or even the AWD CRV trans. We have info on all the choices in this episode.
If you're thinking of doing this swap, here are the correct mount kits for each engine and transmission combination:
K-series with RSX or 02-11 Civic Si transmission - Hasport ESK3 mount kit
K-series with 04-08 TSX or 03-07 Accord manual transmission - Hasport ESK4 mount kit
K-series with 09-13 TSX, 08-12 Accord, or 12-15 Civic Si manual transmission - Hasport ESK5 mount kit
K-series with CRV AWD transmission - ESKAWD mount kit.

I'm over here making notes diligently. I believe I may have moved over the fence to finally K swapping my EM2 after 12 yrs of single jingle.
EM2 gang! Same here man, got a lot more years on me tho haha. Got my first car being my plum EM2 about 2 years ago.

I really want to k-swap my EM2, by drilling out the original side motor mount brackets, weld in 03-05 Civic Hybrid motor mount brackets, Civic Hybrid engine room/bay wiring harness, EPS rack, and ABS module (it looks identical to the RSX ABS module,) Civic Hybrid brake lines (also, look identical to the RSX,) EP3 underhood fusebox (doesn't have relay's for IMS,) Civic Hybrid radiator, EP3 a/c lines. Combine a EP3, and a EM2 PCM sub-wiring harnesses to support the EPS underneath the dash. Drill/cut a hole in the firewall for the EPS wiring harness pass-through. The dashboard/speedo/tach has a spot for an EPS light, there's no yellow LED soldered onto the board, and the embossed EPS label is painted over black. Maybe, take apart the entire dashboard wiring harness, and add the wire for it.
It'd be just like it would have from Honda. I'm also crazier than the shit from bats.
Someone did something similar years ago by welding in the EP3 brackets.

Have you ever heard or seen any issues with the driver side bracket cracking the factory mount saddle from the stress of the motor? I know it was a issue back a few years ago and people had to reweld the saddle in place
I have not, but the day I bought the car I started swapping it.
How did you do the wiring for the electric power steering? I need a video for it asap pls. I have an em2 lx and want to know how to do the wiring for the ep3 or hybrid rack and pinion
Is the rsx and ep3 the only subframes available to use with a K20? Didnt know if some of the other honda models shared a subframe or had one very similar.
Those are the only ones we have tried and can confirm work.

@@VTECAcademy yeah I truly got lucky. One of my old customers from my old shop gave it to me free of charge. One of my other customers was going to donate the es1. I have $400 invested at this point. Plenty of room for aftermarket parts in my budget. Of course I'll be hitting up hasport for my mounts. Thank you for all the great info as usual

@VTEC Academy If swapping in a K20 into an EM2, could you use the RSX power steering pump, reservoir and hose with the EM2 rack and not have to cut the EM2's hood? Thanks for all you do for the community!
No, the pump sits at the same height whether it is a K20 or K24.
@@VTECAcademy aside from the RSX pump, what exactly is needed to make it work with the EM/ES power steering rack or do I need the entire RSX power steering system?
@@251_Performance No, although the RSX PS rack probably has a quicker more desirable ratio, you just need the pump and high-pressure hose from the RSX. To make it easier you could also use the return lines and reservoir from the RSX but, you could also leave the stock Civic stuff in there and just have a long return line from the reservoir on the left to the PS pump on the right using bulk hose.

You will need the RSX rear transmission bracket.
Do you have a video on the front bumper retrofit? been thinking about doing it to mine.
Unfortunately not, it was done over a decade ago.
Which subframe would be best to use for the es1/es2 ? Ep3 subframe or rsx ?
The differences are minor. You can use either.
i have an em2 k24z7 04 tsx 6spd trans. i got a crv subframe because the rsx is too hard to find where i am. the crv frame mounting bracket wont line up with the esk4 mount kit. what can i substitute it with?
Nothing unfortunately, the transmission casing is totally different on the all-wheel-drive. You’ll have to fabricate something. At some point in the future, I may make a 2 wheel drive manual transmission adapter for the element, and that would work.
@@VTECAcademy still no luck for me on the rsx subframe, all the ones i see are too expensive. an adapter for an element would help alot though, theyre so cheap.

@@zoef.5614 I've seen several people say that the auto and manual subframes have different part numbers, so they must be different. But I've seen some auto to manual RSX swaps and they don't mention a subframe change. I am going to assume the auto subframe does work.
Do they sell that tsx/accord transmission by itself by any chance ?
Honda/Acura has discontinued them, but you can still find them in salvage yards.
