You can see how the late Queen Elizabeth II got her strong sense of duty and service. Her father, King George VI was her inspiration and he laid all the groundwork and foundation for her reign.
Absolutely..
What a great king and a great father he was for her majesty Queen Eluzabeth II
Just look at Elizabeth II on the balcony. She still looks like she's guarding the others, stands to the side, and follows them in last. She is the epitome of professionalism. The history that lady has bore witness to is quite frankly unbelievable.
really love the way the King waved to the crowds...
Evianna Faye tn
Strange to see. The crowds.and everyone's white! Looks so odd now
King George was Great King, was brave to make speech. was hard for him. He did it
Indeed. HM King George VI has earned your respect. Rest in Heaven, Your Majesty.
He was far superior in every way to those who cud make fancy speeches.if only fancy speeches and strength of character went together.
History will judge George the sixth as the one of the best and noblest monarch of British history.
Bless are those people who live in that ere to witness and experience such wonderful historical moment.
Only Queen Elizabeth remains from these scenes... long live the Queen
Are you kidding- they lived through a torturous hell for 6 years!!!
Rebecca White - did you read the comment?
And now she has gone and how i have wept.
I'm really enjoying every part of this series so far. Great rich history. Thank you for uploading
Me too. I cant quit watching
💯💯💯💯🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Me too
Such patriotism and peaceful celebration.
This was a very wonderful day for our British allies. It was wonderful to see Prime Minister Churchill join the Royal Family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
one thing i always respected about. queen Elizabeth s mother and father. even tho he was king he walked behind or beside her.
Patricia Dollin yes! He adored her and he had to propose three times.
The Duchess/queen would walk in front of her husband at engagements. This was because of his speech impediment. Elizabeth would start talking to people then her husband would come along and join in. Ir was breaking rotal protocol but no one appeared to mind
And no one would dare correct HM the qiurn on royal protocol
The Duchess/Queen would walk in front of her husband greeting people. This was so when her husband joined her. People were already in conversation. As Bertie had a stutter he found it difficult to talk to people.
@@samanthaallen7556 The two of them made a great team.
He was Kind and Loving the crowd shouted We want the KING we want the KING and He returns back Wawo
You're welcome! I'm glad you like it.
I'm enjoying this upload too. Just came across it a little while ago. I an American royal enthusiast and love the love story of George VI and the Queen mum
@@danielleporter1829 same im also american, im an anglophile tho
😂
What a wonderful, great King and his people that never gave up were. Those were the days with simplicity and solidarity were seen even in the highest ranks of society. A
beautiful bygone era...
This was fantastic and so special to watch. Thank you for uploading. That crowd went INSANE when Churchill stepped on the balcony. A very special moment in history imo
Thank God for Winston Churchill and his wisdom. And Thank God that Edward and "that woman" were not in power.
Barbie Dahl Yes yes yes
If Edward had remained king, Britain would have been destroyed. I shudder to think what changes that would have made around the world.
You comment reminds me of BBC Sherlock haha because Wallis was also a dominatrix
Hero of Britain but the villian of india....
@@diyashome7002 Yes! How could that be and not see? And besides, their constant visitings to the poor people, produced any change or improvment? Im so far away of this country, so all I can see of them is Speeches and visitings, cutting ribbons, and plaques unvealings!
Couldn t help crying.....
123pailin that’s true! In the end they appeared to be partying like it was 1999.
I love this series, too, and felt the absolute relief when war in Europe was over, even though the war with Japan hadn't yet ended.
Weltha Wood yes, that war was the absolute worst to date.
Queen Elizabeth II the living witness of all of this...
Don't forget prince Phillip
@@yockleyshouse1548 why?? What did he do??

R.I.P Queen Elizabeth II
I love this even though it was a sad time in history worldwide.
Elizabeth in uniform like her Dad
We really need to embrace this is amazing how in modern day we still have kings and queens I really hope this never ends
HTOWN Get money /That remains to be seen. How can their be any Security when their is unfettered immigration? If there are No Quotas on the number of people coming into the country, the Taxpayers will be sold into servitude. Here in America our Politicians are selling us into Socialism! We need to get involved before it’s too late!
Really it was a disgrace when Queen Mary wore a $2000 000- beaded dress in 1936, during time of the depression.
The Royals aren't altogether thoughtful.
Well I daresay it was paid for out of her own fortune@@freyamckenzie5583
Lady oiler, I did not know this documentary existed! Thank you!!
Sorry for the typo, Lady Violet!
Wonderful film Thankyou 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
I always miss the past old days!
Heroes sometimes wear ... a crown👑 😁
This is a great series.
Just noticed Elizabeth holding her clutch-so that’s where Queen Elizabeth II got that from lol
It's amazing how the British suffered for 6 years with constant bombing, minimal food, and deprivation.
Yes, and there are countries who have done that for decades. Horrible.
Thanks for this upload
Enjoying for each vedio just like we were present there
it looks funny how they waved to the crowd. lol
Seeing these scenes of joy on VE day I've tears my Mum celebrated my Dad was on board a destroyer he was in the Royal Navy they met in 1947🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Funny while watching early footage of the young Princess Elizabeth she looks like Anne her daughter and that she was groomed by her father King George. Also that Prince Phillip is uncannily similar in height body type and temperament to King George.
King George seemed waaaay swetter, humble, and full of respect than Phillip.
King George VI and Prince Phillip were second cousins via King Christian IX of Denmark. They were also second cousins once removed via Queen Victoria. So it would not be surprising for both men to have similarities.
Unique regarding the royalty is that they all served in the military. In essence they would have a different perspective on war. This is something the US lacks in its leadership; no true understanding of the spoils of war.
Thus was a huge celebration..wow a six year war. Guess lots of babies were made within those two days!!!! 😁😁
May GOD bless u lady violet 7 for this.........may all be well with thee.
I can only imagine the joy of the end of the war.
amazing love story... the queen mother truly was a great influence to king George.. they seem.to be a pretty close family .. the love was more evident.. how come with Queen Elizabeths II reign.?? a totally different story, I think because a mothers touch of love is different to a father and because shes the head of state she couldnt show softness... i pity queen elizabeth II she had to contain her emotions ! ... but.. nevertheless.. she was raised by good parents and hats off to this monarchy... i just hope their popularity live up to the new generation of monarchs.. because so far Prince Charles is not a popular individual.. Prince William seemed lacking the charisma the same of his grandpa King George VI...
Divine Deschabel I agree with you. The thing about Prince William is that I don’t think he is nearly as hard as King George VI. King George the sixth trained his own kids as if they were in the military & belittled them. That was sad to learn because it wasn’t something that I was taught in world history or European history.
Because she is married to Prince Phillip not the Queen Mother. Her husband is more like her grandpa England than her father.
@@montereyharris1277 I think you have your King George's mixed up. It was King George V that bullied his children. King George V1 doted on and adored his children. The present Queen and her sister.
@@montereyharris1277 - you need to get your Georges straight. Also, world history/European history have far more to cover than how one king behaved toward his own children.
I can see from where Queen Elizabeth II got her strenght. Her mother was the same. It almost looked like she was the Queen and not her father The King.
Lmao, those kids were older than my grandfather like 82yrs old if he still alive right now.
The ending of this video is wonderful. The only thing that would’ve been better for the US at that time would’ve been if we were finished with the war with Japan. That was the worst war & so many innocent lives taken.
WWII defined my Generation. i was born in 1949.Babyboomers grew up in Hopeful times. We were optimistic & totally convinced of Americas invincibility & Rightness. Such was the Generation that-exists today. And many of our GI's were able to get an education, homes & create prosperity. This generation produced the Civil Rights Era, Antibiotics, VACCINATION against childhood diseases of Measles,Polio,Mumps & Rubella, among others, Open Heart Surgery for baby's with Congenital Heart Defects, and other Surgeries that have given us longer & healthier lives. The Great Society, an effort to create better lives for people-without hope. Student Loans for Kids whose parents couldn't afford to send them to college or Trade Schools. This Generation created the Space Age! But of course their is so much more to say about our Parents Generation & Ours. The History Books are filled with this Topic. I just had to remind my Generation, that the Present day negativity, IS'NT shared by this GENeration.
Margaret Tatcher ended that?
Well, how many Queens can say they also served their countries as truck mechanics during wars?
Those were jolly good times.
Such great happiness.
It's crazy how everyone in this video is probably dead or very very old
When it was great to be English&proud
Princess Margaret America love you best. Rip Amen 🙏🏻.
I think Elizabeth was prettier
Bon Fire night?:)
Sto piangendo... Giorgio VI il padre della regina Elisabetta è un Eroe. È storia.
Who's here because of the event of 08/09/2022?
Bonfire in the street reminds me of celebratory fires on the streets of Morgantown, West Virginia after a West Virginia sports team wins big .
After six years of hell those people had every right to celebrate 🍾
Wonderful!. What happened when they needed to pee? Where were the port-potties!😲
In those days London actually had public conveniences that were open.
A life before COVID was so surreal.
It's a shame the succession included the unfaithful, spoiled Charles and his tart. Anne would have been a better choice.
00:45 что за книги за спиной Черчилля?

Is it a coincidence that princess Diana was related to Churchill, then became Charles wife? I don't think so.
As prince Phillip said Japan was really at war with the us! Europe aided but didn't feel the effect of it as strongly as they had with the germans!
❤️❤️❤️
The great Prime Minister
Can you imagen living during this time!!
It took a lot of colonials young blood to accomplish that !
So sad
Damn if I didn't choke up at 6:00.
all those ppl are bones now, How awful!!!
Not all of them lmao
It is absolutely disgusting that the British pulled all troops out after the allies fought to end their war. There was still war going on in Russia , Italy, and Japan but the Brits were no where in sight to help. Very Self Centered UNGRATEFUL.
gail handschuh The British had been fighting tooth and nail for years by that stage and America did not enter hostilities right from the start. We also do not know the agreements, if any that Britain had with America as to troop movements. England is an island and came close more than once to defeat.
Well the Americans certainly took their time. If they had helped earlier, thousands of lives would have been saved. They were not ungrateful. What do you expect, Britain was on its knees. You would be an American I presume, given your rudeness, and isolationist, arrogant attitude.
Japan and Russia had more against USA than Britain
