I have been looking at kitchen videos and photo's for years and years and this is the very first kitchen that actually MAKES SENSE !!! Why ? Because he actually bloody well cooks !!! All the rest are soulless show pieces fit only for offering cheese and biscuits!! Thank you kind sir for restoring my faith that a kitchen can actually function as it was intended to !! I'm gathering ideas and have been for years,as very soon I'll be extending my home and re positioning my kitchen. Thank you, thank you, thank you !!!
Exactly. This is an actual kitchen! I can almost taste a marvelous range of delicious meals that can be prepared from such excellent preparation and arrangement of tools, equipment and space. I enjoy cooking, honoring food and preparation knowledge. This kitchen inspires the senses.
i love that the pantry isn't far away and tucked behind a door. This feels beautiful, relaxed and functional!!! I can see the function right off the bat!
This kitchen is both very beautiful and functional. The storage including the cooling station for baked goods right by the oven is perfect! I love how everything is open and right at his fingertips. And the wall ovens are everything!! The only change I would make is relocating the stove off of the island.
The most interesting, original kitchen I’ve ever seen in my entire life. I could spend days, perhaps weeks, in there while he cooks just getting to know more about this kitchen.
House and Home - THANK YOU for this kitchen video with this actual chef! This is the BEST kitchen design video I have seen. The kitchen industry might hate this, esp the marble and granite companies, but those of us who cook love it! Keep giving us videos like this - and maybe the industry will follow.
That is the most wonderful kitchen I have ever seen. I love the open pantry and spice library. I have never seen a built in cooling rack area. It does look functional and not just ridiculously fancy.
Funny, but when I first saw it, I thought it was the "before" shot of a kitchen make over. Lol. Mostly, I guess because of the hex shape and the "beam me up Scotty" thingy overhead. I do like the open shelving with easy access to goods... and the color is cool. It's a take off of "Monica's kitchen." Nice that he has what works for him. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Yes certainly. Trying to remodel our kitchen in india where modular kitchen is the norm lately. I was looking for a free standing kitchen happy to see the corners well used with stainless steel sink area and so on.As if I saw my dream in front of my eyes.
This is nuts!!!! I LOVE this kitchen, it is a tool shed for cooks. I need to see everything as well and there is a fine line between seeing everything and a complete mess. Michael has achieved a wonderful balance of function and aesthetically pleasing. Wonderful interview :)
Have the designers ever worked in hospitality, because I feel they really understood their client. Looks like a fabulous representation of all the busy kitchens I've seen (and I've been in hospitality a long time 😫😝) . Really enjoyed this. 😀
You are one of my favorites Chef's, your cool calm teaching demeanor is addicting... Also the fact that you break the rules and wing the recipes is unusually unique in a famous chef... Wish you had more videos or episodes accessible on UA-cam as Chef at home and Chef at Large are incredible but hard to find... Excellent kitchen the knife display, cooling rack and spice library are beyond, as a matter of fact I will be creating my own spice library in the near future...
A kitchen which isn't just a design feature for a Interior's magazine shoot but fit for a chef....a working kitchen with character. Not how i would necessarily have mine done but love it, happy for him. Those knives...i'm guessing he's got no kids 😱
our house burned in the December fire in California so i am studying kitchens and this one is fabulous...i loved the cooling racks and the clocks (really fun).
I love this kitchen, it is both functional and beautiful. I especially like that you can see everything you have, nowadays, everything has be hidden away and the whole house has to look like an institution. Zero personality.
It's been a while since I seen this Chef and didn't know he had a new family,..no Rachel, he mentioned Gabe so he must get together..ah ! but the kitchen is very nice
Where's the range hood? I don't see a hood over the cook top. Where's the smoke and grease supposed to go? It's nice to have a fashionable kitchen, but a range hood is an absolute essential piece of equipment unless you want a house full of grease.
It is wonderful that he was able to customize a kitchen for his personal needs and desires. However, personally, I cringe at all the open (cluttered) storage of everything. Visually, there is too much going on for my taste and secondly, I can't stop thinking about the dust getting in and on EVERYTHING! Especially when you know dust is 80% human skin cells. To me, it's more than a bit cringe-y thinking of open storage in a kitchen! But... to each their own... gotta love custom!!!
EEN63 he is a chef. He works fast. Dont worry about dust because pro chefs clean up very often. Open pantry just let him think n not miss out any ingredient when cooking. Its cluttery but it works. Why not right? :)
*EEN63:* I know what you mean by dust getting in and on everything - and besides dust, just the grease in the air from cooking coats everything too! Sometimes even if things are in a cupboard they get dust and grease on them, so I guess there's not much you can do about it. Maybe he's just learned to live with it, because he's so busy, I can't imagine him having time to wipe everything down every day - unless he as a cleaning staff come in.
Clutter is having each nook and cranny stuffed with randomness. Having things out where you always need them isn't clutter, it's adapting your environment to your needs. F.e.: I'm vegan, don't like preprocessed 'food', limit fat, and have a bad back. This means I play a lot with texture, ways of cooking, make everything from scratch, make a lot of smoothies and soup to take with me... So my contact grill, foodprocessor and vitamix are constantly out on my counters, but my microwave isn't even in the kitchen. My favourite skillet and wok hang on the wall, my cast iron pot always sits on the stove, and half my backsplash is covered by shelves full of spices. It's far from minimalistic, but it's efficient and actually very organised, not cluttered.
Finally a NICE kitchen that isnt all stainless steal or marble countertops, LOVE the butcher block.
I hate marble countertops.
You're right, I didn't even miss the marble! The wood looks warmer and more inviting!

This is a dream kitchen. I especially love the stainless steel sink/drainer/dishwasher area - so well-thought out, clean and super efficient.

Why do I love this? It’s the colors and the warmth.

Linda Matulevicz,
That is because the design ideas came from a chef instead of an interior decorator with a kitchen design software package.

this is the only irregularly shaped island that i've ever fallen in love with. Perfection!
Hi Michael. I remember the first time seeing your heavenly kitchen on UA-camz it felt like home for me. Outstanding layout. Big fan here.
Wow! This is my dream kitchen. It feels like really home and so true the kitchen is the heart of a home.
The best chef kitchen.. like he can grab anyone there and teach them to cook anything. You got everything there. Everything
I just got a wealth of ideas for my tiny house kitchen design from this.
Thanks so much for sharing this kitchen! :)
I'm a kitchen designer and this has blown my mind !!💣😎👏
TheNicoliyah Now you're going to be a better kitchen designer! :)
Exactly! 😀
HI WHEN DID FOOD NETWORK SIGN MICHAEL SMITH
Mikey Savelli : he is only in Canadian Food Network not in the States.. unfortunately
Love how even a master chef has a homey real kitchen.
This is one amazing kitchen I have ever seen
Beautiful kitchen. One of my favorite chefs, and enjoy watching your stuff. Thank you.
I have always wondered what Chef Michael's kitchen looked like. It's on TV! Love it.
Have the designers ever worked in hospitality, because I feel they really understood their client. Looks like a fabulous representation of all the busy kitchens I've seen (and I've been in hospitality a long time 😫😝) . Really enjoyed this. 😀
Good god, I need the design notes and floor plan for this. Seriously amazing.
One of the coolest kitchens I've ever seen. I love it.
Wow a spectacular working kitchen with awesome details !!!

Love the clock idea. The blue pantry.
Yes, this is a dream kitchen. A lifelong dream kitchen. He must be famous. ❤
Fabulous! I designed my kitchen to suit my needs too….you can’t go wrong. I agree 100% on this opinion of Thai street food. Best in Asia.
Love this kitchen functionally beautiful!!!
He reminds me of John Corbett during his acting days on “Northern Exposure.” He definitely has a hippy cool vibe going
What a great kitchen. I love the layout. My God...so many knives!
my mum and i adore you chef michael smith!
A kitchen which isn't just a design feature for a Interior's magazine shoot but fit for a chef....a working kitchen with character. Not how i would necessarily have mine done but love it, happy for him. Those knives...i'm guessing he's got no kids 😱

@Naomi Frederick of course I love food and spices 😍
Perfection, I so love it!
our house burned in the December fire in California so i am studying kitchens and this one is fabulous...i loved the cooling racks and the clocks (really fun).
How has no one mentioned that he sounds just like a young Jeff Bridges?
always thought of him as the unknown brother
Now I know why he sounded funny. Maybe they grew up in the same area.
I love this kitchen, it is both functional and beautiful. I especially like that you can see everything you have, nowadays, everything has be hidden away and the whole house has to look like an institution. Zero personality.
Omg best kitchen I’ve Ever seen
i like the cooling rack idea
beautiful kitchen.....beautiful chef.....¿quien es la dueña de todo esto?......😉😉😉
🩷🩷🩷 the kitchen but special mention on the cooling station which for me is also a great area to allow dough to rise
He briefly showed drawers with containers in them. What are those contaniners called and where does one buy them? I would use for flour, sugar etc.
This is what i called a functional home kitchen.
He is a total package - handsome, well spoken, interesting career and interests!!!!!
Wonderful kitchen. I am really curious what brand of stainless pots he has with the gently curved handles. Cannot place the brand.
It reminds me of 80's "country" style kitchens. Just needs some wicker baskets hanging from the ceiling.
OMG! this guy is so much life :D
Love the clock display
Love it 💜💗💜💗💜😭
Adoro esa hermosa cocina 😍
this is a real functional kitchen...
Very cool! ❤️
Where the hell did you get that fridge? My husband and I have been looking everywhere for one just like it, but can’t find one anywhere!!!

At 4:48 I thought he was going to tell us to get everything Le Creuset
How many kitchens does Michael have?
What a nice man.
