BBSHD vs Sur Ron, Side by side comparison video

  • Bit of fun here comparing the performance of a modified BBSHD (ASI BAC855) running at 4kw peak and the Sur Ron at 12kw (ASI BAC4000). Both bikes are being run over the same short test route. Despite having three times the power the BBSHD is not disgraced by any means taking the switch back corner with considerably more grace. It would certainly beat the pants of a stock Sur Ron but is outmatched by the modified version!

    This is an incredible test, and really shows the surprising speed of the HV modified BBSHD setup. With the significantly lighter weight too, it's pretty enticing.

      We get lots of people say they enjoy them more than the Sur Ron because you are not a target for the police and you can easily limit the bike to meet the street legal rules and regulations where you live.

      @@HighVoltageKits That makes perfect sense to me! I don't personally feel like I'd have any problems where I live with actual enforcement. But as far as pedestrians and other bicyclists that I see on the trails, it's nice to have an e-bike that looks as much like a bike as possible. Some people are just looking for reasons to be mad. Lol

      It is a good idea. I mean there is a ton of footage on the channel when I first got my BBSHD plus stuff at 52 volts and 72 volts. Side by side might be hard unless I can find a stock controller lol. I'd do it if it was easy. I will keep it I'm mind tho for sure! Cheers

    I don't even know what to say as really my First thought is that "EV good". The SurRon is logical knowledge of the whole electric two wheeled concept but a bicycle is so random to suddenly become that fast. Great modding mate.

    LMFAOOOO, that is crazy impressive for the BBSHD...
    I will have to try F.W. set at 50 (instead of 40) with 42T to 42T (1:1) gear ratio to see the speed I will get on my bike...
    It was spinning at close to 20 000 RPM when I tried this with wheel in the air.

    You really hit 85 with a BBSHD BAc 855 ? Damn.. the most i've got was 76 and not as quickly... I do run it at 3500w though. Still there seams to have a big gap.

    • @HighVoltageKits
      @HighVoltageKits  9 місяців тому

      Yeah! That was a slight downhill. I have hit 78kph on my fatbike and that was on a downhill. Some of it will be down to gearing and the wind resistance. We have worked on the tune for a long time. Its really quite optimised now. On my bike it peaks at about 65kph on the flat with a 1:1 ratio. It is a fat tire bike. Lots of people using our kits have kit 80 on the flat with lighter hardtails.

    • @HighVoltageKits
      @HighVoltageKits  2 роки тому +1

      So this is just a ballpark figure here. Alot depends on whether you use new or second hand parts and frames or build the battery yourself or many other factors. But in USD I'd say you could build a nice molded bbshd bike for 4k. The Sur Ron would be more like 8k by the time you are done and dusted. This is to hit the kind of performance you see here. The builder of these bikes did much of their own electronics and battery work which lowered the costs. Hope this helps.

      I don’t understand. You can’t pedal a Sur Ron.

    • @jakebaked5996
      @jakebaked5996 Місяць тому +1

      @HighVoltageKits the bbshd, I believe it wouldn't be a fair test if the bbshd wasn't pedalled from cold start. Surron hasn't got pedals, bbshd has. So for true speed, you have to utilise the entire power available for each bike. Since sur hasn't got pedals, it could potentially be equal.

    • @HighVoltageKits
      @HighVoltageKits  Місяць тому

      @jakebaked5996 Ahh ok I understand. In this case though it’s a modified bbshd so the speed at the crank is about three times peddle speed under throttle. It’s not like with a stock motor.
