XB 70 Valkyrie Part 1

- While not a spacecraft, this is a model of a unique high-performance vehicle. The XB-70 has been one of my favorites since I was a kid. This old AMT ERTL 1/72 scale kit has been sitting in my garage for years and it was finally time to attack it. First impression: it’s huge. So check out the first half of the build video and see how I tackled it.
Wow. Been there done that. It's looking good. I have a second one in my stash, but I'll need to move into a bigger house before I can build it.

Very nicely done. I have This model in my stash as well and you motivated me to build mine too!! Now to clear a space on my work bench and where to put it eventually! Looking forward to part 2.
Thanks for sharing the build Mike. I've always loved the Valkyrie, and managed to see the survivor in 1987.
I also have a copy of this kit in my stash, and I'd heard it needed a lot of work. But it's the only game in town. Good luck!

Hi Mike, Nice model. Where did you get the clamps from, the long reach ones
I picked up those clamps decades ago at an IPMS convention. I think they were made in France but I think you can get similar ones today from various hobby tool suppliers.
