I have the same bike and love it. as an experienced rider my only gripe is speed, but considering I bought it for fuel economy, I cant complain. Great review.
Have an 06 650, put Shinko 804/805's and really upped my gravel confidence..just did the fork springs and all I can say is WOW..Huge difference.. If you weigh more than 175lbs totally worth the effort, just get the right rate for your weight, you'll thank me after your first ride..😉
I’m 5”7 and own this bike. Your review is perfect. It has a lot of weight up top. I’ve dropped it a few times due to uneven ground or sloping roads. But as a commuter bike it is perfect.
For most riders, even those shorter than average, once you're riding, that seat height is not an issue at all. You can also have the bike lowered by a competent mechanic, if necessary.
Even if you are not the strongest fella, if you handle a big heavy bike every day, your body will strengthen and adapt. Soon, it will feel light to you. (Provided you're getting somewhat decent nutrition)
I have the same bike, colour too. Gas mileage declines once you hit the highway at quick speeds. I always seem to want a bit more power, when on the highway. Same mileage as my 2012 Prius V strangely. New vstroms have bigger HP. I just checked them out at the shop. The 1000 is most reliable, the 650 is more nimble, revvy, better mileage and CHEAP used. I bought a throttle lock, best upgrade so far as I wished for cruise control.
got a 650 v-strom this year a 2008. could not be happier. first bike. got my motorcycle license this year also. and it is fun to ride here in Norway
Literally about to do the same thing - same bike, got my license a month ago 😅 - but all in Germany (I’m from the uk)
First generation DL1000/650 is the best SPORT TURING...
Likeeeeee from Brazil 👍 🇧🇷

Much appreciated friend! Keep the 2 wheels down.
Got one. Had it 15 years. Ridden 165,000 km so far. Still going strong say no more.
By far best review on YT.
We really appreciate it, thank you!
I took my 2009 dl 650 v strom from Eureka. CA to Fair Fax, Nova Scotia, and back with no problems.
Ive got to have one. Been on marketplace all day and found an 04 with 20,000 miles for $2500. That seems crazy cheap for such a cool bike.

Just bought mine really fun bike
When riding in the rain or mud does it splatter on your shoes, or on your back?
Would be my preferred next bike, but the seat height is a problem.
Thanks for the video, even with a very old model.

Hey man, which throttle control you got?
@@JanChacn the push button ‘under mount’ one.
I have heard three things in your review:
1. mmmmmmm...
2. I am not sure about it..
3. I dont know about it..
Squishy front brakes? Change the hydraulic line to a braided stainless steel.
