13.07.2020 - VN24 local - Search for person in the Lippe River in Lünen without result

VN24 Local News - Lünen / Germany - A group of young women who were staying on the banks of the river Lippe in Lünen observed how a large object fell from a bridge into the river and never reappeared. Around 10:51 pm they alerted the police about the incident. As it could not be completely ruled out that it could have been a person, the rescue control centre was informed. This resulted in a large-scale search for persons by fire department personnel. A rubber dinghy was launched and the diving squadron of the Dortmund fire department arrived. The embankments along the river Lippe were also thoroughly searched. A police helicopter searched the water with a thermal imaging camera. After two hours, the search was stopped without result. Only several bicycles were found and a new electric scooter lying in the water below the bridge.
