My service dog is going to my son’s elementary school on Career Day. My son and I will be his voice but we are hoping to be able to visit with half the school, not just his class (4th grade, he’s my youngest).

@Very-old-man you are so naive. Service dogs can be trained to help people with anxiety and PTSD. Pulling them out of panic attacks and more. My cardiac & medical alert service dog, also is trained to assist with my anxiety/PTSD. Not everyone is just anxious. Some people go through real life changing events that leave it hard to function in this world.
I'm liking how slowly you're getting confidence to explain it without sounding nervous. It's like working retail, I dealt with customer complaints for YEARS and at first it was scary and overwhelming but eventually after years of experience I'm able to keep a calm demeanor and try to work things out without further escalating "their" anger -- even when they're clearly in the wrong. It'll never go away and I'll surely deal with many more as they're never a shortage of complaints but, overtime, you just deal with it bc that's how life is. Which is what i really LOVED about how you approached them in this video. You did it as calmly and understanding despite them being wrong. Of course there is that 'nervous' side effect at the end but surely your body will be used to it. at least i hope with time/experience it helps! you're doing good Dom. keep it up

@@2wolfans I feel that I have horrible anxiety I’ve been serving for 8 yrs hostessed before that and as long as they don’t complain I’m fine when they complain I panic you’d think working in Boca Raton with all these crotchety old people I’d be ok but my managers and the chefs get mad at me so it makes it worse 😂😂 I have respect for anyone working in retail you do similar work and don’t get tipped at least for me I kiss ass for that tip 😂😂

I’m so thankful that most of the restaurants around my house I have went to with my service dog have been very accommodating I even had one because they saw the PTSD Patch on my service dog asked me if I wanted to be where the restaurant was crowded or kind of away from the crowd so that was really accommodating
This was a fabulous interaction. One willing to learn, and one willing to teach. I’m so glad she was happy to listen to the laws and whatnot. Too many people refuse to listen and just think they’re right 24/7.
I admire your confidence in educating and standing up for yourself. When this happens to me, I just hand them the ADA info card and walk out. I am always alone (because my family refuses to be seen with me and my service dog), and I’m just so scared to stand up for myself
My family doesn’t want me to to get one because of what people will say and I can’t afford to live alone so I can’t get one or afford one. It’s hard when you have no support.

If your doctor says you’ll benefit. Then explain to your parents why you need it and that it doesn’t matter what they think it’s your safety.

Before I pulled Phoenix from PA (reorganizing at the moment) I would shake like a leaf because I was terrified someone would deny us access or distract him. I totally know how you feel. It's ironic that they're here to HELP us with issues like chronic anxiety and the public makes it worse.
The anxiety from the public eye and anxiety from how harsh and judgmental the service dog community can be, really ruined my service dog experience. I’ve had people taking pics and stuff. And yeah people have tried to distract my dog before as well and it can be hard to ask people to stop. In the community I was in, people were always looking for any faults or some thing to pick on. Made me paranoid tbh that everyone would be looking for any miss step.
Honestly I wish businesses could refuse dogs. It's not sanitary to have your dog walking around produce at the grocery store. I've also seen these "service dogs" barking, lunging, urinating on the floor
Those aren’t service dogs. Legitimate service dogs have to be properly trained and groomed regularly Any business can deny an out of control dog. But not a legitimate service dog who’s behaving.
that is most likely those online-issued “emotional support animals” which are not true service dogs as the creator here has said. they have very official (extremely different) certification if they are truly service trained, and will not be out in ‘just any’ public place as a service animal until the basic service training is complete. no trained service dog would do any of what you’ve listed in public. that’s not your fault for not knowing, but maybe this will encourage you to learn more!
I like the way this was handled. She was so unsure but I'm glad it ended well. I'm sure this gets so tiring having to explain all the time. I guess to a point it's a good thing, just so that they aren't just letting random animals in. Also not sure if you know this but the highchair.. if you flip it over it'll hold the carseat. I was given a chair like this this past year and I'm like I can't use this and my husband showed me that if you flip it over it'll work perfectly 😊
I noticed I’ve gotten seated in places it’s hard to be seen by other customers or in the back when I’ve had my service dog with me. But low key kinda like it haha.
Went to a Buffalo Wild Wings last week and was told they had to move another party because someone was allergic to dogs. Although my daughter’s service dog is 120 lbs mastiff /Dane X he could not be seen from behind the half wall at the hostess desk…lie. No one but the 2 seaters/servers knew he was there until we actually walked through the restaurant. We said we wanted to be inside, she said I’ll take this party you can followed her… we were then lead to the patio. I needed to restate we asked to be inside ; not on hard chiseled stone patio outside where it was hot and the stone was not ok for a dog of his size to be laying on stone for 2 hours. She walked us back out as I quietly said behind her.. you do understand that I know what you just tried to do by forcing us to sit outside because we have a service dog and it is illegal to segregate us from others in the restaurant? She thought by being so sweet and passively doing this we would just go along. They learned something. We got seated and no one made a scene. Good thing it went down this way because we were there on carpet for him, for over 3 hours because our food took over an hour to come out and was cold and missing parts of the order. Not their fault. They can’t get anyone to go back to work. if he’d been on cut stone patio all that time ( she forgot to bring his elbow pads) he would have had raw elbows and cuts on his back legs. I’ve been an SD trainer for many years. They thought we wouldn’t see through their subtle workaround the ADA law. Nice try but you’ve been caught.🤣
@@celebritycartoonmind5768 legally the restaurant has to make reasonable accommodations for both parties. Neither can be denied service. However in this situation this restaurant made up a reason for segregating a service team. View of the dog was blocked by a half wall so diners did not know there was a service dog there until after the hosts decided to segregate us and walked us through the restaurant to the outdoor patio. When we restated we asked to be inside, we were seated behind that very wall with no further issues. This situation is the same as if there were someone in a restaurant who is allergic to peanuts and the table next to them orders a dish containing peanuts. One of the parties would be moved to another table.The ordering party could not be made to leave the restaurant or be denied the dish they were ordering.
I don't care how this would look. These handlers need to make a career out of these access denied lawsuits. It's the only way to get overall common knowledge.
Had to go through multiple facilities who had no issues if you were a service person to with pets, but if you were like me a Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Survivor Civilian, especially a female they made excuses to devalue and invalidate my capability to have a Service Dog, despite my dog being an Task Trained for at home EMS PTSD dog. I finally found a place, but they are giving me mixed run around signals to. There is a double standard preferential treatment for Veterans over Civilians with well trained pets at home, in getting a Service Dog, they don't have to go down for a pre-evaluation with their pet dog at home, but if your a civilian you have to and is not very accommodating because it's when they demand you go down to AZ. from MI not caring if I have medical appointments and took forever for those. It's difficult, I raised the 1st part and on Disability because of CPTSD and my Hypoglycemia and Hypokalemia Heridetary condition that affects and is affected by my CPTSD, so how is my situation lesser than a Veterans where they can be bumped ahead over you. And your put further back on a waiting list, despite the doctor, EMDR Specialist and Psychologist saying you have as worse of a case as any Veteran and should not be pushed back and be overlooked because I didn't serve. I was told they'd get back to me by mid Jan. Meanwhile I might need a shoulder surgery and have three teeth dental implants to be done, I have made appointments and need the Service Dog Facility to understand I can't switch the major medical appointments out because they don't want to accommodate, I am the one paying them the money for a needed Service Dog, driving down there and back not them, I really see Service Dog Facilities after this stuff happening to me differently and don't trust they will come through on their end, and understand some civllans have it far worse than a Veteran when living with CPTSD. I respect Veterans, however this down playing and ass-umption as a woman and with pets I'd be incapable of knowing what it takes to train with and be a Handler, to know what I am getting myself into is bias and ignorance by the facilities, especially the double standard of who can have pets at home based on status when applying for a Service Dog double standard, regardless if you have a house, backyard and are financial stable, they'd put a Veteran who isn't and living in an apartment over you, because the narrative is they need a Service Dog more than a civilian who has a worse case then them, and if they have pets already ya.... double standards, I am in constant panic anxiety while waiting for a heat back, but it's me that has to be usually the one to call the facility back because they don't follow up with me.

You handled yourself really well in this situation... and even if they did segregate you a little bit in the end, personally i wouldnt have minded that too much... i like being seated in a more quiet secluded corner where its less loud and you can hear your own conversations at the dinner table instead of the commotion of everyone around you (i have autism and sensory issues tho so thats just me... i know people who are more social and want to be around other people may feel like they are being secluded and isolated from the rest of a social outing.
Ive had people try that with me, I am a female wounded warrior USAF. I have no issues setting them straight, however, it can get pretty annoying when it happens a lot. Hopefully you have more smoothe sailing

Well done. I am still amazed that you find this problem in America. It is very rare here in Australia as service dogs are registered with the government and have identification numbers which are included on your handlers card with photos of the dog and handler. If asked we just have to show this card and yes they can ask the same questions as you if required. I have only been asked for my card twice in 3 years. I think America needs some sort of identification policy like this, it would really help. The cards also have the relevant law printed on the back.
While I agree, unfortunately I think it might be too late since so many people with fake service dogs try and carry around identification which is illegal. If we start informing that law, the fakes will have an easier time getting what they want. Or at least easier than their already easy scams.
I can't imagine how absolutely tiring this gets for you, your husband, your kids, friends and other family. If I had someone in my family with a service dog and we had to go through this EVERY single time we dared to go somewhere, I wouldn't want to go anywhere anymore. It's just disgusting. She can see that you have a little kid and a baby with you, and she made you stand there for 10 whole minutes, repeating the same things over and over, instead of just calling the police and asking right away. It's DISGUSTING. I believe that, in a civilized and developed country, ALL dogs that are well kept, trained and socialized have a place in public places. Especially service dogs, but ALL other dogs that DO NOT pose a threat or disturbance to anyone else do, too. People say dogs aren't allowed in places where there's food because of health concerns, well, what about all the stinky ass sweaty ass dirty under the finger nail and underwear that hasn't been changed in 2 weeks assholes? Because I see A TON of them in stores, and I almost die of their stench every time. But we don't prohibit those from entering, because they might stink like a thousand dead rats, but we don't wanna offend them, cuz they're human! But the dog? Oh no. The dog is the most filthy animal.
I had this same problem at Brick Oven Pizza in Orange Beach AL. The guy behind the counter refused to listen to us when we told him! He just yelled for us to get out of the restaurant!
Did you tell him to go to hell? I ignore the simpleton and just walk on by them. The businesses I frequent all know my service dog, (kind of difficult to forget a 175 lbs dog!), by name and are happy to see her. Buy and carry ADA cards, it doesn't hurt to have copies of your State's service dog laws also for those Cops that claim they don't enforce Federal laws. Armed with that information, just walk past the simpletons.

Maya isnt a police dog, shes a medical alert service dog. Police dogs dont have public access rights like a service dog does. The issue is that establishments arent educated on service dog laws. And with all the fake "registration" sites and ESA pets breaking the law it makes it hard for people who actually have service dogs to go into places.

You were so patient with the ignorant worker. They are required to know the law, and ignorance is no excuse. I am absolutely livid on your behalf! I'm also really angry at the company. If the staff are so poorly trained in this area, what else are they poorly trained on? If there was a fire, would they know how to evacuate the premises? If a customer had a medical episode would they know how to deal with it? Do they know how to deal with customers who have allergies? It doesn't inspire confidence.

I know this is a super late comment but, Ive had a women asked me while I’m at my workplace if they could bring their dog onto the Carousel. I work at Carousel that already has a rule saying “no dogs and pets on the ride.” I told to hold on for a second while I ask my boss but she just helps herself onto the ride, I found the women and told that we don’t allow animals on the ride, she told me that she has papers for her small emotional support dog. I told her the animal could be a liability while the ride is moving, she was starting an argument with me. I went to go get my boss after she asked for my manager, I said good luck he’ll probably say the exact same thing. Ended up saying the same thing which caused the women to get angry at us. Again I work at a Carousel thats 100 years old, moves 13 miles an hour and we don’t know how the animal would react on the ride therefore we want to avoid any casualties or accidents that the animal would have. If the dog/ animal got hurt then it would be on us even though we’ve said it multiple times and have a poster in written form saying “no animals on the ride.” I do know the difference between real service dogs and Fake ones. This dog that the women carried was a smaller purse dog, didn’t show any signs nor notification is was a trained dog, just looks all skiddish and barked multiple times, just like all the other dogs Ive seen waiting for their owners after a 5 minute ride on the Carousel.
Is that not considered food prep area? Not allowed in areas where food is prepared.. DHEC is our agency here that could answer that. Check with you inspecting agency.

@@amyanderson9652 its illegal, in all 50 states, to ask for any documentation or paperwork for a service dog. There are websites that sell registration and certification for service dogs. They're all scams and aren't worth the paper they're printed on. Even if the paperwork the handler shows is the recommendation from their doctor, it's still a bad idea to show it to anyone. Doing so would only reinforce the illegal idea that a business can demand to see paperwork.
this is one reason I'm scared to get my sd because I'm scared people will try and say stuff and I'm not good with confrontation plus while having a sd im also a part of the LGBT community (kinda obvious 😅) but I knkw people will say I'm trying to get special treatment and it scares me, especially with my PTSD it makes it really hard to deal with confrontation

I have wanted to get service animal But personally I don’t think I will get one because my reasons aren’t “strong enough” I have Anxiety - medium depression -1q21.1 With my anxiety When I have panic attacks my sensory overloads make it worse So I be shaking like no tomorrow My medium depression- It’s not bad but sometimes it can be really bad My depression makes me -Not wanna wake up -not wanting to go school -feeling really sick But I think I need stronger reasons So I might task train my own emotional support dog I won’t take her in stores unless they are dog friendly But if I’m having the worst day I might have to take her with me everywhere To the point where I have to stay home but that’s to unusual But one time I was shaking so bad my school sent me home to rest My mom said that I need stronger reasons and it would take up to 4+ years and to much money

They did deny first of all but toke a lot of time to persuade the lady by the looks of things but dom has been having this problem so many times which is why she wants to fight for her rights for her service dog
They did deny, but I kept pushing. And basically gave her no choice but to let us in. She kept coming up with every reason to keep saying no. And I just wasn’t having it. But we did get to sit and eat. Even though the whole time she announced to every single guest that walked in that I had a service dog and had to make sure they didn’t care 🙄 I felt very targeted due to it.

So my husband who went to culinary school asked me " can't they deny access to the dog there because it's open access to raw food? Because of the FDA?" Even if it's it's stretch, he thinks they might be able to get away with denying access in hibachi or teppanyaki places and Korean BBQ, etc places where the food cooks at the same table that's sat at. Due to the fact that animals according to the FDA, animals are not allowed in the kitchen area and where raw food is being prepared. So he wonders if you know anything about that or have issues often or if anyone has brought that up? As I said. We are so very pro service dog everywhere so please please don't take offense or think we're judging. His best friend has had a service dog for 11 yrs. and we're in the process of trying to get a getting a diabetic alert dog for me, so we're still learning of course. That’s a really good question. I couldn’t get through to someone at the DOJ just now (ADA HOTLINE). But my guess is going to be it’s allowed. Otherwise they would have specified in the law. They specify the only places they aren’t allowed. Normally the general public isn’t Allowed into the kitchen areas either. But at the hibachi, the dog is in a down stay just like at a table. So it shouldn’t be up moving around, or shaking, or causing any type of issue that could affect the food.

You know what’s unfair? Having chronic illnesses with no cure. Having to rely on a dog to save your life because they can help you in ways machines and doctors cannot. What’s unfair is never feeling normal. Being already limited to varying health conditions that makes it hard to go out and enjoy life like everyone else. What’s unfair is when we DO get to go out, running into issues like this. Even though there’s Federal Laws that PROTECT disabled people and allow them to have the same rights alongside their Service Dogs. As per the Americans with Disability Act (ADA), Title ll, sustained by the US Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division (28, CFR & 35.102, Subpart A), granting federal statutory protection to service animals. In comment directly to yours, Service Animals are very well groomed. Legally they have to be kept clean. So baths regularly, daily brushings. You aren’t going to have dog hair just flying around your face and food.
I am allergic to perfumes and aftershaves. So when I go out, if you wear perfume, stay home because it isn't fair that I have to breathe your perfume. Life isn't fair, but thank GOD there are FEDERAL LAWS that protect Service Animals and their owners.
Allergies and fear of dogs are not valid reasons for denying access or refusing service to people using service animals. When a person who is allergic to dog dander and a person who uses a service animal must spend time in the same room or facility, for example, in a school classroom or at a homeless shelter, they both should be accommodated by assigning them, if possible, to different locations within the room or different rooms in the facility.

This was a fabulous interaction. One willing to learn, and one willing to teach. I’m so glad she was happy to listen to the laws and whatnot. Too many people refuse to listen and just think they’re right 24/7.

I admire your confidence in educating and standing up for yourself. When this happens to me, I just hand them the ADA info card and walk out. I am always alone (because my family refuses to be seen with me and my service dog), and I’m just so scared to stand up for myself

I love watching Dom. She’s my favorite service dog handler. She stands up for rights and can’t stand when people do this.

My family doesn’t want me to to get one because of what people will say and I can’t afford to live alone so I can’t get one or afford one. It’s hard when you have no support.

If your doctor says you’ll benefit. Then explain to your parents why you need it and that it doesn’t matter what they think it’s your safety.

Before I pulled Phoenix from PA (reorganizing at the moment) I would shake like a leaf because I was terrified someone would deny us access or distract him. I totally know how you feel. It's ironic that they're here to HELP us with issues like chronic anxiety and the public makes it worse.
The anxiety from the public eye and anxiety from how harsh and judgmental the service dog community can be, really ruined my service dog experience. I’ve had people taking pics and stuff. And yeah people have tried to distract my dog before as well and it can be hard to ask people to stop. In the community I was in, people were always looking for any faults or some thing to pick on. Made me paranoid tbh that everyone would be looking for any miss step.

Honestly I wish businesses could refuse dogs. It's not sanitary to have your dog walking around produce at the grocery store. I've also seen these "service dogs" barking, lunging, urinating on the floor

that is most likely those online-issued “emotional support animals” which are not true service dogs as the creator here has said.
they have very official (extremely different) certification if they are truly service trained, and will not be out in ‘just any’ public place as a service animal until the basic service training is complete. no trained service dog would do any of what you’ve listed in public. that’s not your fault for not knowing, but maybe this will encourage you to learn more!
I like the way this was handled. She was so unsure but I'm glad it ended well. I'm sure this gets so tiring having to explain all the time. I guess to a point it's a good thing, just so that they aren't just letting random animals in. Also not sure if you know this but the highchair.. if you flip it over it'll hold the carseat. I was given a chair like this this past year and I'm like I can't use this and my husband showed me that if you flip it over it'll work perfectly 😊

I noticed I’ve gotten seated in places it’s hard to be seen by other customers or in the back when I’ve had my service dog with me. But low key kinda like it haha.

Went to a Buffalo Wild Wings last week and was told they had to move another party because someone was allergic to dogs. Although my daughter’s service dog is 120 lbs mastiff /Dane X he could not be seen from behind the half wall at the hostess desk…lie.
No one but the 2 seaters/servers
knew he was there until we actually walked through the restaurant. We said we wanted to be inside, she said I’ll take this party you can followed her… we were then lead to the patio. I needed to restate we asked to be inside ; not on hard chiseled stone patio outside where it was hot and the stone was not ok for a dog of his size to be laying on stone for 2 hours. She walked us back out as I quietly said behind her.. you do understand that I know what you just tried to do by forcing us to sit outside because we have a service dog and it is illegal to segregate us from others in the restaurant? She thought by being so sweet and passively doing this we would just go along. They learned something. We got seated and no one made a scene. Good thing it went down this way because we were there on carpet for him, for over 3 hours because our food took over an hour to come out and was cold and missing parts of the order. Not their fault. They can’t get anyone to go back to work. if he’d been on cut stone patio all that time ( she forgot to bring his elbow pads) he would have had raw elbows and cuts on his back legs. I’ve been an SD trainer for many years. They thought we wouldn’t see through their subtle workaround the ADA law. Nice try but you’ve been caught.🤣
@@celebritycartoonmind5768 legally the restaurant has to make reasonable accommodations for both parties. Neither can be denied service. However in this situation this restaurant made up a reason for segregating a service team. View of the dog was blocked by a half wall so diners did not know there was a service dog there until after the hosts decided to segregate us and walked us through the restaurant to the outdoor patio. When we restated we asked to be inside, we were seated behind that very wall with no further issues. This situation is the same as if there were someone in a restaurant who is allergic to peanuts and the table next to them orders a dish containing peanuts. One of the parties would be moved to another table.The ordering party could not be made to leave the restaurant or be denied the dish they were ordering.
I don't care how this would look. These handlers need to make a career out of these access denied lawsuits. It's the only way to get overall common knowledge.
Had to go through multiple facilities who had no issues if you were a service person to with pets, but if you were like me a Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Survivor Civilian, especially a female they made excuses to devalue and invalidate my capability to have a Service Dog, despite my dog being an Task Trained for at home EMS PTSD dog. I finally found a place, but they are giving me mixed run around signals to. There is a double standard preferential treatment for Veterans over Civilians with well trained pets at home, in getting a Service Dog, they don't have to go down for a pre-evaluation with their pet dog at home, but if your a civilian you have to and is not very accommodating because it's when they demand you go down to AZ. from MI not caring if I have medical appointments and took forever for those. It's difficult, I raised the 1st part and on Disability because of CPTSD and my Hypoglycemia and Hypokalemia Heridetary condition that affects and is affected by my CPTSD, so how is my situation lesser than a Veterans where they can be bumped ahead over you. And your put further back on a waiting list, despite the doctor, EMDR Specialist and Psychologist saying you have as worse of a case as any Veteran and should not be pushed back and be overlooked because I didn't serve. I was told they'd get back to me by mid Jan. Meanwhile I might need a shoulder surgery and have three teeth dental implants to be done, I have made appointments and need the Service Dog Facility to understand I can't switch the major medical appointments out because they don't want to accommodate, I am the one paying them the money for a needed Service Dog, driving down there and back not them, I really see Service Dog Facilities after this stuff happening to me differently and don't trust they will come through on their end, and understand some civllans have it far worse than a Veteran when living with CPTSD. I respect Veterans, however this down playing and ass-umption as a woman and with pets I'd be incapable of knowing what it takes to train with and be a Handler, to know what I am getting myself into is bias and ignorance by the facilities, especially the double standard of who can have pets at home based on status when applying for a Service Dog double standard, regardless if you have a house, backyard and are financial stable, they'd put a Veteran who isn't and living in an apartment over you, because the narrative is they need a Service Dog more than a civilian who has a worse case then them, and if they have pets already ya.... double standards, I am in constant panic anxiety while waiting for a heat back, but it's me that has to be usually the one to call the facility back because they don't follow up with me.

You handled yourself really well in this situation... and even if they did segregate you a little bit in the end, personally i wouldnt have minded that too much... i like being seated in a more quiet secluded corner where its less loud and you can hear your own conversations at the dinner table instead of the commotion of everyone around you (i have autism and sensory issues tho so thats just me... i know people who are more social and want to be around other people may feel like they are being secluded and isolated from the rest of a social outing.
Ive had people try that with me, I am a female wounded warrior USAF. I have no issues setting them straight, however, it can get pretty annoying when it happens a lot. Hopefully you have more smoothe sailing

Well done. I am still amazed that you find this problem in America. It is very rare here in Australia as service dogs are registered with the government and have identification numbers which are included on your handlers card with photos of the dog and handler. If asked we just have to show this card and yes they can ask the same questions as you if required. I have only been asked for my card twice in 3 years. I think America needs some sort of identification policy like this, it would really help. The cards also have the relevant law printed on the back.
I honestly wish we did too.
While I agree, unfortunately I think it might be too late since so many people with fake service dogs try and carry around identification which is illegal. If we start informing that law, the fakes will have an easier time getting what they want. Or at least easier than their already easy scams.

I can't imagine how absolutely tiring this gets for you, your husband, your kids, friends and other family. If I had someone in my family with a service dog and we had to go through this EVERY single time we dared to go somewhere, I wouldn't want to go anywhere anymore. It's just disgusting. She can see that you have a little kid and a baby with you, and she made you stand there for 10 whole minutes, repeating the same things over and over, instead of just calling the police and asking right away. It's DISGUSTING. I believe that, in a civilized and developed country, ALL dogs that are well kept, trained and socialized have a place in public places. Especially service dogs, but ALL other dogs that DO NOT pose a threat or disturbance to anyone else do, too. People say dogs aren't allowed in places where there's food because of health concerns, well, what about all the stinky ass sweaty ass dirty under the finger nail and underwear that hasn't been changed in 2 weeks assholes? Because I see A TON of them in stores, and I almost die of their stench every time. But we don't prohibit those from entering, because they might stink like a thousand dead rats, but we don't wanna offend them, cuz they're human! But the dog? Oh no. The dog is the most filthy animal.

I had this same problem at Brick Oven Pizza in Orange Beach AL. The guy behind the counter refused to listen to us when we told him! He just yelled for us to get out of the restaurant!

I ignore the simpleton and just walk on by them. The businesses I frequent all know my service dog, (kind of difficult to forget a 175 lbs dog!), by name and are happy to see her.
Buy and carry ADA cards, it doesn't hurt to have copies of your State's service dog laws also for those Cops that claim they don't enforce Federal laws. Armed with that information, just walk past the simpletons.

Maya isnt a police dog, shes a medical alert service dog. Police dogs dont have public access rights like a service dog does. The issue is that establishments arent educated on service dog laws. And with all the fake "registration" sites and ESA pets breaking the law it makes it hard for people who actually have service dogs to go into places.

I'm also really angry at the company. If the staff are so poorly trained in this area, what else are they poorly trained on? If there was a fire, would they know how to evacuate the premises? If a customer had a medical episode would they know how to deal with it? Do they know how to deal with customers who have allergies? It doesn't inspire confidence.

I know this is a super late comment but, Ive had a women asked me while I’m at my workplace if they could bring their dog onto the Carousel. I work at Carousel that already has a rule saying “no dogs and pets on the ride.” I told to hold on for a second while I ask my boss but she just helps herself onto the ride, I found the women and told that we don’t allow animals on the ride, she told me that she has papers for her small emotional support dog. I told her the animal could be a liability while the ride is moving, she was starting an argument with me. I went to go get my boss after she asked for my manager, I said good luck he’ll probably say the exact same thing. Ended up saying the same thing which caused the women to get angry at us. Again I work at a Carousel thats 100 years old, moves 13 miles an hour and we don’t know how the animal would react on the ride therefore we want to avoid any casualties or accidents that the animal would have. If the dog/ animal got hurt then it would be on us even though we’ve said it multiple times and have a poster in written form saying “no animals on the ride.”
I do know the difference between real service dogs and Fake ones. This dog that the women carried was a smaller purse dog, didn’t show any signs nor notification is was a trained dog, just looks all skiddish and barked multiple times, just like all the other dogs Ive seen waiting for their owners after a 5 minute ride on the Carousel.

Federal law, service animals are allowed everywhere. Restaurants, hospitals, etc. pets are not.
At least she was going to hear you out explaining the ada law other than my last experience the chick says she knows the law yet still denied us. Tried to educate her but didn’t want to hear it. Don’t support businesses like this.

@@amyanderson9652 its illegal, in all 50 states, to ask for any documentation or paperwork for a service dog. There are websites that sell registration and certification for service dogs. They're all scams and aren't worth the paper they're printed on. Even if the paperwork the handler shows is the recommendation from their doctor, it's still a bad idea to show it to anyone. Doing so would only reinforce the illegal idea that a business can demand to see paperwork.
this is one reason I'm scared to get my sd because I'm scared people will try and say stuff and I'm not good with confrontation plus while having a sd im also a part of the LGBT community (kinda obvious 😅) but I knkw people will say I'm trying to get special treatment and it scares me, especially with my PTSD it makes it really hard to deal with confrontation

They did deny first of all but toke a lot of time to persuade the lady by the looks of things but dom has been having this problem so many times which is why she wants to fight for her rights for her service dog
They did deny, but I kept pushing. And basically gave her no choice but to let us in. She kept coming up with every reason to keep saying no. And I just wasn’t having it. But we did get to sit and eat. Even though the whole time she announced to every single guest that walked in that I had a service dog and had to make sure they didn’t care 🙄 I felt very targeted due to it.

So my husband who went to culinary school asked me " can't they deny access to the dog there because it's open access to raw food? Because of the FDA?" Even if it's it's stretch, he thinks they might be able to get away with denying access in hibachi or teppanyaki places and Korean BBQ, etc places where the food cooks at the same table that's sat at. Due to the fact that animals according to the FDA, animals are not allowed in the kitchen area and where raw food is being prepared. So he wonders if you know anything about that or have issues often or if anyone has brought that up?
As I said. We are so very pro service dog everywhere so please please don't take offense or think we're judging.
His best friend has had a service dog for 11 yrs. and we're in the process of trying to get a getting a diabetic alert dog for me, so we're still learning of course.

That’s a really good question.
I couldn’t get through to someone at the DOJ just now (ADA HOTLINE). But my guess is going to be it’s allowed. Otherwise they would have specified in the law. They specify the only places they aren’t allowed. Normally the general public isn’t Allowed into the kitchen areas either.
But at the hibachi, the dog is in a down stay just like at a table. So it shouldn’t be up moving around, or shaking, or causing any type of issue that could affect the food.

You know what’s unfair? Having chronic illnesses with no cure. Having to rely on a dog to save your life because they can help you in ways machines and doctors cannot. What’s unfair is never feeling normal. Being already limited to varying health conditions that makes it hard to go out and enjoy life like everyone else. What’s unfair is when we DO get to go out, running into issues like this. Even though there’s Federal Laws that PROTECT disabled people and allow them to have the same rights alongside their Service Dogs. As per the Americans with Disability Act (ADA), Title ll, sustained by the US Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division (28, CFR & 35.102, Subpart A), granting federal statutory protection to service animals.
In comment directly to yours, Service Animals are very well groomed. Legally they have to be kept clean. So baths regularly, daily brushings. You aren’t going to have dog hair just flying around your face and food.
I am allergic to perfumes and aftershaves. So when I go out, if you wear perfume, stay home because it isn't fair that I have to breathe your perfume. Life isn't fair, but thank GOD there are FEDERAL LAWS that protect Service Animals and their owners.
Allergies and fear of dogs are not valid reasons for denying access or refusing service to people using service animals. When a person who is allergic to dog dander and a person who uses a service animal must spend time in the same room or facility, for example, in a school classroom or at a homeless shelter, they both should be accommodated by assigning them, if possible, to different locations within the room or different rooms in the facility.
