I'm friends with all the people I support on Patreon, and I've asked them if they get a bigger cut from Patreon or Tribes. They told me that its nearly the same after fees and tax, but Patreon pays slightly better. So if I can send just a few more cents to the artist over the company, I'm going to support the artist.
The reason I prefer Patreon over tribes, is that 99% of MMF's website is advertising or trying to sell me models. I only use it under objects shared with me. I feel like I'm getting constantly advertised to and that gets extremely annoying.
This is a big one. Patreon feels much more like a 'walled garden' approach where you only see what you want to see, which is great. No, I'm not interested in the billionth 40k knock-off or horny anime sculpt MMF, please shut up about it.
Because Tribes is goddamn annoying to navigate. I'll get an email saying "a new update from your creator is available!" No link to the post from the email (like Patreon does), have to go to the main page, inbox, find that same notification in the inbox, click it, then go to the creator's page and scroll down to the update. Oh and then half the time it asks me to sign in again when I try to access the locked post and do it all over. Versus one click from an email in Patreon. MMF is a great resource but a pain in the ass to actually use.
It could be the $25 monthly fee..its nothing to larger studios pumping out volume like crazy, but for smaller creators its just a tax and it could be a loser. While i admit im totally ignorant about how discovery works on mymini i lost out on money on using them while i had a lot more success on cults and patreon.
@@SamCharlesPalmer We can just get it cheaper not in the UK, and unlike Only-Games we can order from companies that will actually deliver our product and not steal our money.
@@scannerbarkly yeah, I'm not their biggest fan and have had similar experiences to the rest of their cust9mers on trust pilot. Just remember though, cheaper doesn't neceasirly mean better, especially when it comes to resin. Cheaper resins are more brittle, or buying from inexperienced printers can results in things like resin traps, over exposed minis etc.
I use Patreon because it actually works, MMF is completely unusable on mobile. And I've never had a good delivery from their minis, there's issues every time
Just got my Saturn 3 Ultra, and began exploring places to get minis, and this has been a very insightful video, especially the section on MyMiniFactory. Fantastic video! 👍
I probably won't use only games, myself, but I'll try to keep it in mind in case anyone brings up wanting Miniatures again, but doesn't want to deal with the whole printing process
My main gripe with Tribes is there's no "download everything from this month" button. This is why most Patreons still also offer a Google Drive download link for convenience. I was late grabbing Den of Imagination one month and it took forever to download them one by one.
I hear you, I do wish it had that, but I don;t tend to download everything I get every month anymore. I just use the library feature and download the individual files as I need them. A bit more work on organising would be better, but I like what we have now
OMG yes 4 clicks for each file. Every time I send an email about anything they act like I'm from mars. I asked about anything close to a bulk download and they said we Don't have that.
So, is there anyone able to connect to MMF in some acceptable fashion (loading times) AND download models without constant network connection drops? (say about every 6 Mb, not even talking about the slooooow DL speeds) ... makes it kinda hard trying the platform and coming back for more...
Please update your website It shows the Dungeons and Dragons Partwork 1-31 then misses 32,33,34, then 35 onwards have no photos. Also your Contact Us page says fill in the box to send a query but there is no box to fill in or send button?
That's what I love about them too. Are they prefect, no, far from it. but they are the best of a bad bunch and their attitude towards the community is what I think makes them stand out!
Hey Ross, would you recommend for the first resin printer, oriented towards miniatures, getting the Mars 4 (I can get it for around 200 USD), Sonic Mini 8Ks (I can get it for under 300 USD), or the new Saturn 4 Ultra?

You are praising MMF without reason; all they changed is to start charging a libary fee. There are no improvements. The search and website are as slow as ever, the filters are still too generic and it literally takes weeks to find independent creators as suppose to the big studio content they are pushing. They have not at all listened to the community.
Don't take this the wrong way, I don't comdemn sponsors in anyway, but doing a video with them, getting a referral link, and saying that you don't care is a bit misleading. If you didn't care you wouldn't ask us to use your link, so you do care. This is another kind of sponsorship, money didn't exchange hands before, but it will probably in the future.
The point is, I'm not paid to only say positive things. If you believe in them as a company who are striving to deliver a good service to you, consider buying from them. if you don't think that and don't want to use them, then don't, I genuinely don't care what you choose. What matters to me is you spend your money wisely on the things you want and you are happy with your purchase after watching one of my videos. that builds trust between us and will bring you back to me in the future. And that, is what matters to me.

If you love Gw great, keep buying them. But someone people want to create different things and others want to buy these different things… I also do not condone copies of GW IP. But I’m sorry. Similar products are not the same thing.
The world of model making and painting is changing mate…
So please, grow up and get real.
