sweet resource here thank you! I'm very likely going to get an Isuzu NPR for a camper conversion, so naturally I know nothing. now I know about these key maintenance items and can possibly ask seller about these as well if not inspect these items myself.
Very good/important points. Maybe do a video on how to winterize an Isuzu NPR like, checking the belts & hoses & checking the Antifreeze "freeze point" & even changing the (2) thermostats.
I find that jacking the axel up an inch or so to take the weight off the wheel allows a more uniform flow of grease into the bottom king pin fitting and around the bottom thrust washers.
Hi Doc thanks for your videos it helps me a lot to keep my truck in good shape. I was trying to replace the steering fluid on a npr hd 2019 have any idea in how to do it please help out with a video. Thanks a lot in advance.
Great video, thanks! I bought a 2015 NPR recently and was wondering about the king pins. One guy out of our warehouse spent $1000's to get his replaced, and others pay a lot for maintenance I'd rather just do myself. I do my own car maintenance, so I'm sure I can do the chassis lube, oil change, air filter, coolant, and diff fluid, at least. I'll be watching your other NPR vids, for sure. Would you do a vid for spark plugs next time you do them, or is it so straight forward on these trucks that we don't need one?
Just discovered your channel. Great info. Watching this, what is the shield-looking thing apparently protecting the carrier bearing on its left side? Also, I've got a 1994 NPR with 50K miles and I need to go through it and tend to filters and fluids and any other maintenance it might need. Question for you . . . I'd like to put larger wheels on it. Looking around, I think there are 19 inch wheels that will fit the bolt pattern. Can you think of any reason why this might not be such a great idea? I'll have the speedometer re-calibrated of course.
Well thanks for commenting. The more I look at the options the more I see why so many are in love with the 16 inch wheels. I still don't understand it. Larger wheels have always meant stronger tires. And more footprint on the ground. @@fatbastardwithabeard
The top of the kingpins are notorious for not taking Greece and the bushings around the kingpins are made of brass which wears out super quick they only have a metal coating on the brass
I have 07 Chevy tiltmaster. Basically Isuzu. The dial on the left of steering wheel is high idle. If you turn all the way left it clicks. If you turn all the way right it clicks. Where should it be for normal operating conditions. Thanks
@@Nprdoctor it's the 5.2 diesel. Yeah I figured it out. Have another question to ask. When I use the plug at the back of the passenger door to warm motor on cold night doesn't seem to be working. I checked fuse but could only find one marked fuel warmer and it wasn't blown. Thanks
I have a leaky rear wheel cylinder. Only have 54k miles on the npr. My mechanic wants to replace all four? Do you have to replace all four if only one is leaking?
It is easier to keep up with maintenance that has been done if you do them in pairs. However it is not necessary to replace all 4. My personal recommendation is replace both on the side that the one has failed.
@@Nprdoctor well I asked him to do just the one pair and he said he’ll only do all of them or none at all so looks like I’m doing them myself or I’m out 1600 for parts and labor
@@MangoRiotness Wow, I'm all for mechanics being proactive and attentive and making suggestions, but a mechanic who won't do what I ask (especially when it comes to sticking to a budget when things start to get expensive) is no longer my mechanic.
Hey can anyone please inform me on my 09 Isuzu diesel npr... My cab is sagging on my tires. It's an obvious sag when you look at it. Cab shifts side to side while driving and it's causing a engine to lag...
Dude you are saving me so much time! Thanks for the good content.
ok Doc keep the videos coming , theres not a lot of info on NPR out here
I appreciate your time and talent making these videos. I hope you do more!
I really appreciate what you doing here.
Always good info....thanks

Thanks really enjoyed this
Thankful for this vid.
Thank you for the video!!
What about regressing the front wheel bearings? Is that somthing I could do? Or would I have to take it in? Thanks

Do you know how much an engine overhaul cost on a 2016 NQR 5.2L 4 cylinder diesel engine ? And who is the best to do the job ?
Do you have any video`s up or know of any on how to remove the intercooler on a 2001 NPR 4.8 diesel

Thank you for your feedback! My next video will be spark plugs and wires.
FYI...it costs me $2,000.00 per truck for king pin replacement. Plus the fact it eats tires until it's done.

I know this is 4 months old but the 19.5 tires are expensive and drive and ride like crap compared to the 16" tires.

Bro how do u get the toneing ring off the back of the front hub to get to the rotor screws
Hey Doc, you know if the wheel bearing info you give in this video is the same for an 09?
Do you know the torque specs for the 4 bolts connecting u joint to rear axle?

Which NPR is more reliable, the diesel or the gas?
How difficult would it be to use a hand lever-crank grease gun? Like, in a pinch. I want to buy an electric eventually.
Just a whole lot more reps 😂
I pump the separator but never bleeds. Maybe bad?

Hmm, the NPRs I've been in (2008, 2015, 2017, 2019) don't have this, as far as I know. But I'm curious now.
