I enjoyed watching this great interview with RLK and AGM, who are both brilliant scientific thinkers with a passion for exploring the mysteries of the mind and the world around us. I make it a point to watch an episode of "Closer to Truth" every day, and some of my favourite episodes have featured amazing thinkers like Paul Davies, a British-born theoretical physicist, cosmologist, and astrobiologist, Sir Roger Penrose, an English mathematician, mathematical physicist, philosopher of science, and Nobel Laureate in Physics, and Sam Parnia, a British associate professor of Medicine who is interested in Near Death Experiences. I am looking forward to reading "Pari Perspectives 17: Anomalous Experiences".
According to an article in the Los Angeles Times on Feb. 5, 2015, Mel Rogers is stepping down as PBS SoCal chief after 18 years at the helm of PBS SoCal/KOCE-TV.
Yes… 👍 about scientists that may dispute- for example psy as not being snow to be reproducable under “ scrutiny” that they must “ know” understand- Maybe even experience before they dispute , as that would not be ethical etc.. on their part- like u Said -…. 😊
Robert, love you brother, but you might have a different perspective of believing in a mystical experience if you had one! I did 45 years ago. Think of it every day. Consciousness is all that actually exists, experienced through Perception In Consciousness. Any materiality, any physicality is superfluous and is contrary to parsimony, when Perception In Consciousness completely suffices to provide our experience, our story. Another nail in the Space Time coffin. All the various "Fields" are the observed behaviors of the one Consciousness Field.
The awareness of awareness in not a world-view because it is not a conceptualization. It is the self-arising awareness of the ground of mind. What we do as quantum physics and neuroscience is the play pen graffiti of our inner Buddha. In that sense it brings us "closer to the Truth".
@@michaelmcintyre3005 Everything you will ever do, ever experience or see will be Perception In Consciousness. Even if you're looking through a microscope or a telescope.
the awareness of awareness changes the nature of perception closer to the way objects are described by quantum physics. All phenomena are then experienced as “within the mind” which suggests an association or identity between awareness and quantum void.
It is not adequately described as idealism because idealism still functions in terms of the subject /object, subjectivity /objectivity distinction with a philosophical bias toward the former. The awareness of awareness is not a concept nor does it arise as a concept. It is concept-less. Concepts belong to consciousness of something arising through perception and thinking. Analogous to the way Jung referred to the Psychoid existing prior to and underlying the distinction between mind and matter; pure or the ground awareness manifests a non-dual realty that precedes the arising of the distinction between subject and object, interiority and externality. Meaning that in the immersive experience of the non-duality of awareness itself there is no distinction between the perceiver and what is perceived. This seems unbelievable which is why enlightenment, though the experiment has been successfully conducted for two and a half millennium, is so rare. So in quantum physics when the observation is made the original phenomena changes into to something else. That something is human experience of the world. For this reason, it cannot be the absolute arbiter of reality and truth. It can in this relative sense. It is further interesting that Karl Barth spoke of the non-dual nature of the realty of God. And, combative theologians might be less so, if they recognized the resurrection as neither objective ( the fundamentalists) nor subjective ( Bultmann), but a manifestation of the nondual character of ultimate reality. Just saying -...
@@michaelmcintyre3005 It must be taken as a given that Human Consciousness is incapable of directly describing Human Consciousness, in that it is impossible to directly convey higher dimensional experiences in lower dimensional thought expressions, or language. Metaphor and analogy must, therefore, suffice. It should be agreed upon on the outset that language is necessarily imprecise and subjective and is an unproductive area of dispute. I did not use the word "Idealism", and actually would promote "Observism" as a more appropriate description of my cosmology, bearing in mind well known Quantum phenomena illustrated by the double-slit experiment. The question that never seems to be addressed is by what mechanism the "particle" may possess the information that it has or has not been observed, and then respond accordingly. Not problematic, really, if everything is Consciousness. It's the convincing insistence of our Perception In Consciousness of the physical/material world that creates the deliberate and intricately designed life experience we all co-create in a symbiotic feedback dance with The Whole, Primary Consciousness, the Consciousness Singularity of which we are all an integral and essential part. I see no difference in saying that, or saying there's no distinction between the perceiver and the perceived. I think of it as being the entertainment and the entertained. With regard to nonduality, I believe this cosmology is highly parsimonious and singularly monistic - Consciousness is the only thing that actually exists.
An absolutely incredible interview! Thank you, Robert, for all you've done.
