This was truly an answered prayer for my girlfriend, soon to be fiance, and I. She's been seeking a cancellation on her previous sealing so we can eventually be sealed next year. What a blessing it is to have the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ with greater knowledge and comfort of promised blessings of covenants!
Great message! I'm single, and because of many challenges I go through in life, don't expect to marry in mortality. However know that God has a plan for me, and I know that I will have the opportunity to be married when Jesus Christ comes again as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. I also know that God loves each of you personally, and has a plan for you.
I loved hearing the doctrine on the two connections. My husband left us after 22 years of marriage and I remember being told by another member that I should do what she did and get a cancelation of the sealing, she did not want anything to do with her x husband. I felt untethered and set adrift, I thought my sealing was a waste. I thought if I am prompted to cancel my sealing, I'll do it. I never was. I took it on faith for the last 11 years, but now I understand that vertical connection is still there. I can't even express how much that means to me. I am still bound to the Lord through that sealing. I am eternally grateful I did not cancel that sealing bond with my Savior!
Thank you Elder Carpenter for your message today. This was a talk i really needed. My spouse has been unfaithful and walked out over 2 1/2 years ago. I love him very much and pray for him. I am moving forward knowing that God has a plan for each of us. I know God will bless me and our family.
I have to give this lesson in Relief Society next week. I’ve asked two friends to give it for me. Both declined. I don’t know how to give it without hurting or offending many sisters. Very tone deaf message.
These are easy talks if you are married and life went on the direction you were taught it would of you were this or that. You are just fine and I'm sure doing great.
We know that progression is not stopped in the celestial kingdom and that to reach the highest level of exaltation requires a marriage covenant. We also know that there will be single people in the celestial kingdom. This leads to the logical conclusion that you can find a spouse in the celestial kingdom. Though ideally, you'd want to find them before that.
It was hard to listen at the beginning about marriage because I have muscular dystrophy and most sisters don't want someone with a physical disability. But the ending was great
The Lord will answer your prayers and will be granted to you if you continue to have faith and put your divine trust in Him and knowing that He loves you and knows your situation.
I appreciated this talk immensely. God has all the bases covered and if we live up to our covenants the best we can it will be well with us in Gods time and we will receive all he hath.
So what happens to those of us who haven't met the love of our lives in this life? Or partnerships haven't worked out? Do we spend eternity alone?! It's great if people have found that though and can say they have been with their soul mate....
Not everyone will have many opportunities to be married in mortality. I believe if we are trying to do all we can to prepare for eternal life with our Heavenly Father, and we can't get an eternal companion in mortality, God will give each of his children equal opportunities to be married. He said something like: no blessing will be withheld from those who are faithful to the Lord. I believe it's been said that we can get married after Christ comes again to rule and reign as Lord of this earth, if it doesn't work out in mortality, or if we are alive when he comes again.
Hello. I'm am investigator and truth seeker. I'm currently reading the book of mormon! Just finished the new testament 🥳 I have a question about this talk that I'm hoping someone can help me with. Is there a point at which a members of the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints refrain from considering sins as "mistakes"? Is there any concern within church leadership that up and coming generations will permanently view and rewrite sin as "mistakes"? Inferring that sin has limited accountability or is all accidental, or is generally regarded as being committed without any thought or personal choice. Aren't "mistakes" very different than sins? And shouldn't repeated "mistakes" be a real concern for the individual and the people in their lives? Thank you 🙏 God bless. All glory to God ✌ ☮ 🕊 ✝️ ☯️
Yes.There is a difference in some respects. Jesus atoned for our sins and mistakes. But in a general sense, sin is anything against the commandments or laws of God whether done by mistake or intentionally with full knowledge, whether by omission or commission. To my knowledge the brethren and members of the church never shy away from calling sin sin, but perhaps you have had a different observation in your immediate circle. Hope you long found your answer though and have since progressed on your path. 😊
I think the music is beautiful as well. I'm curious though about your comment about the LDS church being outside Judeo Christianity. I do have a question for you. Do you support Israel in their right to defend themselves? I believe many who claim to be Judeo Christians don't believe or support the Jews in their right to survive and thrive. How are they true Judeo Christians if they don't trust God's word when it comes to the Jews? I would really like to know what you think. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and fully believe that God has made promises to the Jews and that he will return to the Mount of Olives and keep us promises to the Jews. We all need to be grateful for the blessings we have received through the Jews. The Bible is such a blessing and without it many would be lost. I hope you have a blessed day.
That's kind of you to say you like the Tabernacle choir's music. I do too! Respectfully, we aren't the LDS institution, we are The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This church is Jesus Christ's New Testament Church restored to the earth, after the apostolic authority had been taken from the earth for a time. From Joseph Smith onwards, we have had, and still have, ordained apostles, seventies, prophets, teachers, priests, evangelists (patriarchs), etc on earth again, just as Jesus Christ intended. God bless!
Sealing and a new name is very similar to how traffickers mark and label their victims. Research it. NO one needs permission to keep your family. It is already yours.
You do not understand your belief in the sealing power. When we are sealed in connect us to our family (past, present, and future). We believed when a man and a woman are sealed (married) in the temple that if they strive to live with the full purpose of heart to obey God and keep his commandments we will have each other forever as a family unit. No other faith believes in or makes that promise. The new name is a sacred name between you and your forever companion (eternal partner) and not shared with anyone else.
Hi, God honours our free will or moral agency. Since he does this we actually can break the sealing bond with our loved ones. "God will never force us into a sealing relationship against our will." This of course pains Father in Heaven, that we would want to reject his blessings for us, but he allowes us to choose happiness with God and our loved ones forever, or aloneness away from God, and our loved ones forever in misery. Our decisions we make now determine our eternal destiny. As for me I choose to honour God and my loved ones by staying inside the sealing bond, which also connects us to a loving God forever.
I love this talk!
This was a talk that needed to be given years ago because of the key points brought up.

It is important to know our choices towards the hereafter are the only validation we need.

You'll get a fair chance. The Lord knows your circumstances.

Elder Carpenter addressed that most significant question in the talk - perhaps another look would be helpful. I wish you well!🤔

Although the LDS institution is outside of Judeo Christianity, the mormon choir has very beautiful music =)
We are the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ ( Judeo Christian)
