For descendants of "our" pioneers to feel "entitled" as in having exclusive privilege to blessings is misguided, as all members of the Church are privileged because of the great sacrifices of "our" pioneers - the great Church we are all blessed with, the temples, the universities - when I visited BYUI recently they Spirit reminded me these schools were established by the sacrifice not only of sweat but blood. What joy the pioneers must have to see the multitudes of youth filling the Church's great universities. These noble pioneers do not see only their descendants as beneficiaries, but they see all of us as beneficiaries of their great sacrifices.

In Sam Scott, “As If You Had a Choice,” Stanford, Dec. 2023, 44. The article identifies the professor as Robert Sapolsky, a Stanford professor of biology, neurology, and neurosurgery and a best-selling author of science books. The article contains opposing views, including from Alfred Mele, a professor of philosophy at Florida State University who headed a large John Templeton Foundation project on free will. He stated, “Scientists most definitely have not proved that free will-even ambitious free will-is an illusion” (in Scott, “As If You Had a Choice,” 46).

How dare you, a wealthy, white, business executive and lawyer talk about occupational success and economic circumstances. There are people in the world who will never have what you have had in this life and it is a struggle. Every. Single. Day.
