    I don't like having to swap the shaving head for the trimmer. I used to have a Braun Series 3 with a similar design. My thinking was that if it was a separate attachment, rather thatn integrated, it would be more useful. It was definitely a mistake that won't make again. Having to swap between the two was super annoying and the trimmer itself was mediocre at best. It might sound weird, but for me it's a deal-breaker. I really like the convenience of being able to flip open a trimmer attachment, cut a stray wisker and then go on shaving.

      Yep I agree, but I have to swap for ear hair attachment as well .

    If I understand your review correctly:
    1) The 5000 is more bother to use because I would have to remove the head to use the trimmer.
    2) The 5000 costs more
    3) The blades for the 5000 cost more
    4) Even though the technology for batteries has advanced by leaps and bounds, my 10 year old razor still runs just as long on a charge as a brand new 5000
    Well sir, I guess I'll just buy a new set of blades for my old razor. Thanks.

    So what’s your further verdict on series 5000 mate after having used for a while ?

    • @mgtracey
      @mgtracey  8 місяців тому +1

      Yes, I really like it, but I did have to swap over from new blades after 12 months

    I have both of these shavers. As reported in the video, the blades needs changing at least once a year. New blades with one model will be better than old blades with the other. I can’t detect one model being better than the other when both have good blades. The blades for the 3000 cost half those of the 5000.

      The 3000 Cutters can Go into 5000? Is it worth to rreplace 40€ Blades on 80€ shaver? You can shapen Thema as well with Sand papir or thoothpaste

    Hi thanks for the review I'm deciding which Philips shavers to buy the 3000 or the 5000 how is it after 3 months?

    • @mgtracey
      @mgtracey  2 роки тому +2

      I do like the 5000 the only problem I’m having with it is Just how sensitive the blue on off Button is. so just in the course of shaving as you do the Rota shaving action and you move the razor you keep touching the button and turning off the razor 🪒 and then have to turn it on again so that button is just a bit too sensitive I’ve done that the quality to shave is 👍 great

    I buyed a 5000 series and the head keeps popping off when i shave. It's when a force is exerted sideways (compared to the notch). Maybe I push too hard on it. I buyed a series 1000 then, and evidently, the head cannot pop off (the series 1000 head is like the series 3000).
    Also, the series 1000 is the only one you can use while connected to the wall (while charging). The other models (more costly) do not allow you to shave while charging (for security purposes it seems) but I used a "wall connected only" cheap model before and never got shocked...
    So why paying double the price for a more fragile model, and with less functionality (not being able to use it when it's charging) when you can pay half the price, and not depend on the battery level when it's too low... Every time i shave i'm in a bathroom with an outlet. Batteries are very useless in this situation and it just depletes the planet of all the lithium.

      And why would you get shocked when using a cord-only model unless you're using it in the shower? What an asinine comment.

      Both batteries are not replaceable. It last about a year. So not wise to spend too much. It needs shouldering to replace the batteries. Not everyone can do it.

    I bought the 3000 less than 3 months ago. Verdict: pretty useless and cheaply made. To achieve a close shave takes 30 minutes. It is very fragile and made of flimsy materials. The spring catch is held in place by a very weak plastic protrusion and that plastic has sheared so now the catch does not hold the head in place reliably. I don’t hold out much hope for other aspects of the shaver. Although the Braun I have is an equally ineffective shaver, at least it has lasted almost ten years without issues. Being German the Braun is well engineered and durable. The Philips is flimsy by comparison.
