I appenticed under an old industrial electrican at US Steel in the 80's. Ceilings there were 30+ feet high. This man would simply look up at the wall and then proceed to make a series of complicated, compound bends on the ground, without making a single pencil mark. Fit perfectly every time. Still blows my mind today.
For UA-cam maybe, but with his experience, I’d say he is a hard man with good morals. I wish he had more subs on his channel, I don’t understand why he hasn’t reached over 100k yet, his knowledge is incredible

I am an electrical contractor of 36 years and I still get enjoyment of learning new techniques especially on your channel! Keep up the great work! I think for apprentices it might be good to explain the reason the bending shoe should be facing inside towards the saddle and not away from it. I hear how guys and ladies have alot of confusion on this topic.

Great video, can anyone tell me how he got the first measurement for the 90 degree bend? I understand he adds 2 inches to each for the offset and 2 inches extra for the stub length but I didn’t see where he saids how he got the first measurement for the first 90 degree bend. Thanks in advance.
He doesn't explain it, but he made an arbitrary measurement for where he wanted the first 90 stub to take place, then every other one he added two inches extra for stub length. So how he did it was measure the middle of the coupling to where the back of the 90 stub is after the saddle has been made. He then marked the conduit where the stub take up would take place then bended it.
I think you should have an apprentice with you doing these bends so we can some real learning happening, I know you’ve done these bends more times than I can imagine, love the videos either way!

The distance to betweem one conduit in relation to the other conduit is the [tangent of 1/2 of the angle used to bend the 90 degree bend times the about of space between the conduits . 1/2 (90 degree) = 45 Degree...tan 45 = 1. So 1 x 2( being a space) = 2" longer 90 then the previous one. Good stuff

30 DEGREE 4 POINT SADDLE BENDS 1. Measure distance from coupling or connector to obstruction. Add shrinkage which is 1/4 for every inch of height of obstruction, Now Mark 2. Add first outer mark which you will multiply 2 with the height of obstruction, Now Mark. 3. From mark number 1 add the length of obstruction, after this you should only be marking in one direction moving right to right or left to left, Now Mark 4. Add the same length you measured when you multiplied the height of obstruction by 2 to the last outer mark, Now Mark 5. Now bend These are just notes I took from the video, but I figured I'd leave them here:)
Looks good. Just wondering why it looks like u didn't have 2 and 5/8 inches as the number you would be using for your 90s and overall length measurements? Dont u want the spacing plus the o.d. of the pipe? Or is your spacing 2inches from the back of one pipe to the back of the other pipe in which case the 2inch increment would be correct.
How do determine the length to the mark for the first 90? Is there a formula for this? Or is just the exact measurement to where the pipe needs to go up?
Is the 68 7/16" mark (for the stub up) measured to the farthest side of the fitting (let's say connected to a panel box) or to the centerline of the fitting on the panel box? Not quite sure where this measurement ends. Thank you.

NICE BRO NICE!! Regarding the so called "new kline ruler" they stole that from me. About 2 decades ago, I made something called "the Offset Ruler" And Patented it. Sold a Few on ebay. Kline had a means of suggesting new products to them. Pitching a product. They said when submitting, that "many times we already have ideas in the works" to me, that was a red flag to imply that "we plan on stealing your idea, and you wont be able to do a thing about it" But I trusted them and submitted it. And lo and behold, kilne's "new idea" They steal ideas faster than Kanye West listening to your music demo.
I've said that whoever invented the EMT bending tables on the back of the tape was brilliant! I guess that's you. It is the perfect place to have the multiples and shrink, much better than putting them on the handle of the benders. When you're laying out a conduit run you have a tape in your hand anyway. Great job, sorry you didn't get the credit. I'm glad you like the video!

No, the spacing is 2" O.C. which is pretty typical.

What if it’s RMC and you can’t cut the ends
you can bend on a Chicago, and use thread less connecters going up, or use a hand threader if need to maintain class 3 going up
