    I bought my T3 new on March 26, 1990. I was thinking of an M1, but a friend who owned one told me there was something better, and to get the T3. I sold it in 1999 to a friend so I could get something with a 16-track sequencer. Regretted it immediately, as the T3 sounds were amazing. Fortunately, the guy babied it in his home studio and we traded gear in 2005 and I got it back, never to leave me again. Loaded up all my old patch disks and I was back in business. I'm always surprised how "unknown" the T Series line is. Everyone knows M1, then jumps straight to the 01/W series. Nobody ever talks about the T's. Maybe it's because it's so close to an M1 but with lots more features and memory, etc. Great demo. I have my T3 right here in the case, and even still your demo makes me miss hearing it. Time to pull it back out. The day I unboxed it and heard "Cat Watchin'" my world was changed. Lol. My T3 did some great bass work on this older video of mine. ua-cam.com/video/7Muz0Cc5KTc/v-deo.html

      I myself only know about the T line because of two artists I admire, Billy Joel and Dennis DeYoung. I often wonder whether or not one was also used by Richard Tee. That’s a great story of how you got one yourself, swapped it out and then swapped it back. Incidentally, which model did you get for the sake of the 16-track sequencer? Was it another model from the same line such as an 01W?

      @@Shred_The_Weapon Interestingly, I was steered by a friend to get a General Music SK760 with the "Powerstation" upgrade that included a 2Gb internal hard drive for easy storage of MIDI sequences and patches. (It was and Italian-produced keyboard, but had a brief partnership with USA-based Peavey.) It has a great 640x480 screen with buttons around the edge for selecting screen commands. The sounds, especially after coming off the T3, were "ok", but the sequencer function and interface is fabulous. It's actually a 32-track sequencer but all the commercial MIDI sequences I bought to perform with are always 16-track or less. In the video link I shared above, the SK760 is holding down the drum tack from an on-board "style".

      Nice, DavRBailey. I am associate GEM with Rick Wakeman and Keith Emerson, both of whom had similar looking digital piano models in the late 90s and early 2000’s. Wasn’t aware of the partnership with Peavey though. It sounds as though you made a great selection, if only for the sequencer. Great to know that you chose (and managed) to get your hands on another T3.

      @@Shred_The_Weapon Thanks. Fortunately, the T3 I was able to get was my original one that I had sold to my friend. We had stayed in touch for the years that he had it and in the end I went back to him and we negotiated a gear swap so I could get it back. (He was thinking of trading it for some new gear but I rushed in to grab it back before that happened.) So, in a way, it's like it never left me since it's the actual one I bought in March of 1990. I put in a new LCD back-light and gave it a good cleaning to "welcome it home". That was 2005.

      I got a T3 in 1991 and owned it for over 25 years before selling it in 2016. It was my go to instrument for many years and I milked it everything it was worth using its on board 8 track sequencer and limited 16 notes of polyphony. I had the opportunity to trade it in for an O1WFD but after doing a lot of comparing between the two, I felt that the T3 sounded better and fuller despite the fact that the 01W had improved features and specs including twice the polyphony, sequencer tracks and multi timbral parts along with improved fx with better routing and basic real time control. The T3 has the extensive range of midi outs not available on the competition.

    It's very similar to the M1! But with more sample ROM, right? T-Series aren't so widely known as M1, but that makes the T-Series even more fascinating!

      The T series is the M1 on steroids. The only reason they weren't a big seller for Korg unlike the M1 and O1W is that they were priced way too high at the time.

    The T3 is so much better than an M1. The M1 lacks effects-mapping, so all the sounds go through the same effects. Also the strings and bass samples on the M1 are weak. The T3 solves all these problems.

    • @conan5885
      @conan5885 Рік тому +2

      The T3 is basically an M1 with more memory, bigger display and added midi features. It has the same synth engine than the M1, the exact same Effects structure and algorithms than the M1, the same exact first 100 samples and drum samples as the M1, it only adds 90 extra samples and drum samples to the M1 set. The M1ex is basically a T3 sonically, has the same sample set than the T3.
      But structurally it is the same synth.

    • @madness8556
      @madness8556 Рік тому +1

      Mark my word that the T1 will sound better than the X3 despite the latter being a newer model. The X and N workstations have a more compressed sound than the M, T and O series instruments.

    • @leevjr686
      @leevjr686 Рік тому

      Exactly. Traded an 01W for a second T3 and have 3 of them now. Less processing and simple basic sample work best in the context of a song (just like playing any instrument on stage), but if you are using the instrument 'stand alone' feel free to do all the processing the design allows. When sounds merge they can conflict or blend with and only by good judgment. @@madness8556
