Farmer from WA but I’ve brush bars on our 150 and have on all previous cars. When hitting Roos bull bars tend to bend up and crush into the bonnet. With brush bars and steps I find you can hit a lot more without bending the bar into the bonnet as it’s reinforced with brush bars to the chassis. Out here the thing is the more crap hanging off the front the safer the misses and kids will be. I understand it’s a different story per location
Brush bars are good for holding onto when talking with your mates about crap while having a beer or 4 and the bull bar is good for holding onto when you’re squatting doing a crap 👍
With your logic you shouldn't put anything on your 4x4 an not bother doing it up at all. If you plan on going hard in the scrub get a brush bar. If you're only going to drive sissy tracks an the beach don't bother with them
Yup, i agree, usless. Bend first tap the chew out your paint and flares. Cab move and vibrates on mounts brush bars solid to chassis. Rebuilding my hilux and both fenders screwed cause of brush bars, panels bent warped and paint ruined
Finally, ive been waiting for one eh I have a steel bar and changed the springs and shocks. Perhaps it was because i had stock suspension on it at the time...but damn the difference was cheess and chalk.
Hi Anthony I hear what you are saying on the brush bars. I actually have been waiting on a segment on bull bars nudge bars etc.I have been reading up on the Smartbars. The new ones look sexy like Batman’s underwear but unfortunately my 2013 150 only appears to get the older original Tupperware looking version. Despite that it would be good just to have something up front that can take a bit of a rub as well as provide mounts for sand flags, antennas, lights etc. I do have a GXL, it is silver but my wife knows I love her too.
Fair enough maybe not on a Prado, but like you said on my 75 Troopy the brush bars (incorporating side steps) have saved panels from sticks flicking up quite often. On another topic --what is your opinion on the latest model GX Prado, engine upgrade and auto box etc.

I’ve seen the video and I’ve been using Prado’s pretty well on some pretty decent tracks all over the country for about 10 years now never had or seen a broken CV on a prado of anyone in or outside of our groups if it’s set up correctly virtually impossible to have any CV problem on a Prado anyone that does his chosen the wrong Suspension brands a rather avoid the problem instead of having to add things you don’t need to the vehicle to solve a problem if you know what I mean save two mistakes instead of making any
1st roo you hit without a bull bar, you will regret not having one, ... also the brush bars can deflect a roo off the side

Another positive of brush bars, is they strengthen the bull bar during an impact, by sharing the load with the side steps or rock sliders.
