- Corn Planting 2024 is drawing to a close. However Matt, Kelly, and Andy have to battle constant rain showers in order to finish and the yield on the corn crop might have already been cut due to a fertilizer misapplication.. Matt talks about some more technology upgrades he's making. Andy has to break out the roller/crimper to lay down some thick cover crop. Matt talks about the management needed when utilizing cover crops and how they're not a cure all.

Excellent planting video. Matt. You covered all the bases with this one.
Beautiful cover crop! I love crimson clover!❤
6:26 LOL Matt, almost got yourself in trouble there.
May the seeds you have planted grow and flourish, and may the harvest be abundant. Amen.
God be with y'all this season stay safe !!
I am in a similar situation in Southwest Indiana, we have been rained out for 2 1/2 weeks with another seven days of rain on the way. I put anhydrous on April 20 with no N serve getting really worried how much of that nitrogen will still be there if I don’t plan any corn until the middle of June or later
Those covers were looking great! Very cool seeing all 3 of y’all running in the same field. Wish you guys all the best for high yields this year!
Regenerative AG is not an overnight success it takes time to build soil
Seems like I forget a tree or limb somewhere every year 🤷♂️
Thanks for another great video MATT
My dad would say you can’t stop work until the water is running off your hat.
Matt, I saw a tv show earlier that said we about your area. It was a young lady that was killed. Her name was Sara Sunmers. She found dead at a place called the “the hole”. I know this isn’t channel related. But I figured you were familiar it. Keep up the good work.
I’m not aware of it
Very interesting about cover crops. Thanks for the videos.
they say the mind is the second thing to go.
Why not fly on the extra nitrogen ,no soil compaction and its reasonably cheap and very fast to do it that way . Just a thought. Good luck !!!!!!!!!!!
The spread pattern would be poor in our area due to topography and tree lines. Also pilots refuse to fly a lot of our fields due to being in city limits. The application cost is pretty high too
Hi Matt, curious to know why you can’t keep planting in the rain.
Planters don’t work well in the mud.
Of all thing's they put the wrong chart on their machine
Is it possible to apply nitrogen with an airplane?
Yes but it’s not a very accurate application with our topography and tree lines. Plus it’s expensive
why not spray it eariler planter would do better job planting into dead stuff parquat takes maybe day or two to work
Matt, Kelly. Do you add any kind of adjuvant to the burn down spray? If so, what brand?
We add a crop oil concentrate. Agridex
Boy, I hope you are wrong on that. I know that you love cover crops and I know for your situation. It probably is the right move. However, this country is not a one size fits all area different areas respond differently. What works in one area doesn’t work in another last Thing, I will say a good idea does not need to be mandated. People will adopt it their own time and the best fits them.
I agree. But I’ll bet the federal government has other thoughts
