- The crew at Griggs Farms are struggling with cotton harvest. None of the equipment is wanting to cooperate and the bushhog decides to tag out with the cotton picker for a catastrophic breakdown. With no hope of getting replacement parts, Matt tests out his welding skills to the max. In the meantime, there's a new marshmallow maker in town...

Schulte is the best brush hog I've ran.
Man, I don't know how you do it. All of those problems popping up yet get out the goods. Good luck, and I do really like your videos. Keep them coming if at all possible.
I hope this will help you . The clutches on your brushhog can get moisture in them which causes them to lockup . It doesn't allow them to slip . On the Johndeere cutters your supposed to loosen the slip clutches every year and let them get hot then tighten back to spec . I've wreched the gearboxes breaking the main shaft off . My neighbor cracked 3 gear cases due to this issue .
The slip clutches are free
@@griggsfarmsllc I hope your weld held I'm guessing it did .
@@zcole6612 so far so good
Your welding is like mine .Looks like the pigeons done it hope it holds.Kelly is in my prayers hoping for a speedy recovery cheers from Bundaberg Australia
TDOT can take a bush hog over rocks 🪨, stumps, and the occasional mailbox 📬 yet yours breaks cutting cotton plants 🪴 😮
👏for the intro
Just dig a little hole put a seed in it with some water then you can go home and count your money. That won't take long.
Come on Matt let Kelly go shopping for a new bush hog!
He said no. I was disappointed
My wife never has got excited about used equipment like you Kelly. And we will never try buying new. You and Matt are just the typical farm family trying to make ago. Thank God the country still has a few.
Used is NEW in farming 😂
Well put@@KellyGriggsFarms
Greatly job running the picker Kelly! You get a fast clap 👏 from me for that great looking marshmallow! 🎉
Gotta purchase a Bush Hog brand! Started in my home town and they are the best! We had one that was on a 3 point hitch that covered 6 rows and we grew skip row cotton. I Bush Hogged thousands of acres with it.
But your first pass with wire then go with your 7018 to finish it out
Awesome Video and Much Love as Always!!!
Thanks for taking us along.....
Ups and downs of farming/self employment. Thanks for growing my clothes. Hopefully you dont but if you're looking into a new brush cutter look into the major equipment cyclone mower. Rotary mower that has the finish like a flail shredder without the maintenance and moving parts and it galvanized too. Would never look at a brush hog the same with the finish and speed you can go with them. Keep fighting along Griggs crew!!
The Marshmallow making by Kelly , congratulations you made it happen , stay safe , have fun !
kelly, congrats on the first cotton bale!!!!
Hey Matt , does that say Stevens Farm on the side of your bailer picker? Is that the person who used to own the picker before you bought it.
Yes and I guess so
@@griggsfarmsllcwill you remove it and put Griggs farm on it? Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 🎄🙏🏻
Matt Kelly how old is that Bushhog?
🤷♂️
Easy there Kelly. 😂😂😂
P.s.
Matt, when the wife says go shopping then you best go shopping.
This is what I’m saying…….
You need a new Bush Hog or let the Landowner use his bush hog to cut the plants down.
Matt hang in there you knew farming wasn't easy but sometimes the adversity makes you wonder. Kelly your sense of humor is Golden admire how you keep the faith your a true Inspiration God bless y'all.
I would definitely look into a Cyclone major as suggested. I know a lot are being used in Texas on cotton. Much less money than a Schulte. Or check on a woods those have been good for us also. Take care!
I think its time for a new Land Pride bush hog.
I bet Matt’s probably missing the wonderful joy of basket picking. Not too late to turn back
Matt does the rowtrak work on that picker on flat ground? We plant everything on beds here but one year planted about 600 acres on flat ground and the rowtrak wouldn’t work for me.
Yes it works
I really get a kick out of the videos cousin and learn a bit too.
Kelly doing a wonderful job
Glad to see that tornado wasn’t near you
How many acres a day are u expecting to get out of the picker with no problems. Here my neighbor can’t get more than 50 in day and they have a brand new module picker
Depends on the field topography. Minimum 50 acres/day. Up to 70-80 acres/day
I know I'm never going to the casino with Matt Griggs 🤣
Im the one winning at the casinos while he’s dropping 20’s for “free drinks.”😂
Kelly, excuse me? I make $20 last all night…
@@KellyGriggsFarms they're not as generous with those free drinks as they used to be.
matt if that welder is straight ac machine try lincoln 7018ac rods they are made for ac work i still dont like them but better than regular 7018 problem is you have to turn amps up to high to run on ac keep people away from that brush hog in case that wheel lets go
weldedmine broke same way holding year later
I was wondering. How many acres did you usually average daily with the old system? I know the yield will affect that but i would like a ballpark.
50 acres would’ve been a real hard day in decent cotton. With the yields this year, 40 acres would’ve been a hard day
Go shopping Kelly go shopping
If I had my way we would have had a new one THAT day!!!😂
Ya dun guud gurl.
😊
