    I'm so glad I found your channel. I've been beading for a couple of years, but I am not confident enough for wire-working. Forgive my rudeness, but which part of the UK are you from? My dad was in the USAF & we were at Lakenheath & Mildenhallin Cambridgeshire, I believe. My daughter has been a complete Anglophile most of her life also. Thanks for the simple, thorough basic wire projects.

    Hi Samantha. I hope you all are doing well. Those look so cute. I just love them and they look so easy to make. Now I need to get some 16 gauge wire. Though I wonder if the 18 gauge would work. I've got some stout 18 gauge in silver plated. Its almost to hard for me to handle. Love your tutorials and always love seeing little Glory. He's such a doll.

    Hi Samantha, I am really enjoying all your videos. I love the look of raw copper but is there a way to stop it tarnishing.

    • @samanthalatimer1
      @samanthalatimer1  6 місяців тому +2

      Absolutely 💯 You can buy wax to rub onto the copper, and then you rub it off with a soft cloth. Renaissance Wax is a good one to buy, but there are lots of others too. Or, you can use liver of sulphur to give the copper a gentle patina too. Hope that helps ☺️

    Would it be all right to use 18 gauge rather that 16 gauge wire since my osteoarthritis makes it hard to use 16 gauge? Anyone have a tip to make the stronger wires easier to use for those of us with hand joints and strength?

    • @samanthalatimer1
      @samanthalatimer1  6 місяців тому +1

      18 gauge would be absolutely fine. It would be just ever so slightly less sturdy, but absolutely doable 🥰

      @lesleyhenshaw2878 6 місяців тому +3

      To help shape the wire, you can use a mandrel, or a pen, pain brush knitting needle, and use your pliers to bring the wire around. I hope that helps. I have pain in my hands, and sometimes can’t pick the wire up. It’s very frustrating, but a good way to keep your hands and fingers moving x❤

    • @RICDirector
      @RICDirector Місяць тому

      Get a coupld of short (6" maybe) tubes that easily slip over the end of your wire. To bend arounc sonething, clamp the something so it cant shift, put the tubes on the ends of your wire, and you have immediate mechanical advantage.
      This is also good as pegs in a block; clamp the block and argue with just the wire to get where you need to go.
      Hope that helps!

    I just finished my first one super cute thank you! I struggled with how loose to keep my beads so next time I think I’ll only secure that first wrap 2 times with a bit of extra tail so I can easily take it off and add or subtract a bead or adjust that wire length as I come around the first time securing the beads but I’m super excited to try several pair.

    I have the same or similar tool for making loops in 6 sizes. When I want a larger size I us prescription medicine bottles, a 6" secttion cut off a broom or shovel handle, 6' segments of wooden dowels, smaller sampler jars of jelly and syrup, etc. Chopsticks make a nice frame. I have a collection of dried-out jumbo permanent markers for frames. So many great ideas on Samantha's channel! I appreciate her willingness to share her wonderful gift!
