The thing I love about this body style is that no one will ever suspect you have enough torque under the hood to rip a small town off the ground. Badass just like every vehicle on this channel 🤤
I really like the body style. My 2015 Malibu ...was the last year with that body style, I think. Then they went to the egg shape that makes it look like every other sedan out there. Kias, Hondas, Toyotas and on and on an don. This body style although slightly different on the SS than the Malibu...makes it look more like a Cadillac...at least compared to the new egg body.
Love your build! I just bought one last week black 2017 with a Magnuson supercharger 700 rear wheel with 20000 miles on it for 42,000. And it is my first performance oriented vehicle.
I really should have waited and looked around.. got my 2014 for $39k.. 93k miles bone stock. funny thing is shortly after the dealership I got mine from started posting more & more modified ss’s & I just felt like a idiot.
My Uncle has one of these. Done the cosmetics like this one to make it a Holden, runs 850hp+ with a supercharger (and other bits) and uses it as a daily - the thing is an absolute monster and so loud that you can hear him long before you see him!!
@@darylwizzard I lived in Mimico up until a year ago but back in Toronto. GM did this with the new GTO also remember no Canada access. We built Camaros in Oshawa, still build Challengers and Chargers in Brampton, but no - GM in their wisdom. Now cancelling Camaro. Smh.
I love the combination of high performance and restrained styling. 5 years back, I had a 2014 Caprice PPV. Those are a great option if you don't have $40,000 to spend on a 6-9 year old car.
So you see to any Americans here, there is a brand called HSV and it sells this car but as stock. They have LSA engines in it as stock and it sounds amazing.
It would be great to see some other Australian muscle cars on this channel. Im sure you have some over there. See if you can track down Ford XY GT. This car is legendary in Australia.
That's a smart looking car. Very surprised how quiet it sounded from the inside, but it made my ears bleed from the outside. Very very nice. Love the echo when he lifts off the gas. 👍

I recently did a 2017 SS Holden Commodore at work for a friend. Needed some upgrades and body mods/paint. Badass grocery getter with a LS3 @430hp(stock). Super fun car to drive as it's basically a Corvette with a 4 door body. Definitely one of the neatest cars I've done it awhile.
I have a G8 Holden, V6 base car. One of the best cars I've ever had. Yeah I know it's not a V8 but she scoots pretty well at 260 hps. I l🖤ve my Aussie car. Never getting rid of it.
I absolutely love the SS Sedan. It was brought over as a "halo" car that GM advertised almost not at all. In an interview someone at GM (I forget who) basically said that anyone who wants this car will already know what it is and won't need commercials / ads jammed down their throat. Anyone who thinks it's the same as an Impala or Malibu is (was, RIP) not the market for this car. So it's no surprise many people aren't familiar with it. While it does look similar to a same-era Malibu especially when the two cars aren't parked right next to each other, I absolutely love the SS styling, and even the factory performance would've been good enough for me. In typical GM fashion, just as the car was getting great with the manual option, they of course killed it. '96 Impala SS was awesome and probably would've had an LS in '97... killed the whole B- and D-body line. G8 GT/GXP were awesome... killed Pontiac. SS Sedan was awesome... killed Holden. Props to the owner for making this one even better and thank you Autotopia for showing it some love here!
Unless you were into nascar, no one knew about the Chevrolet SS. GM/Chevrolet did a piss poor job of marketing this car. Like the owner said, the average person thinks it's a dress up Malibu until you get walked on!
GM sold exactly as many as they wanted. They purposely didn't market this car. They had an agreement to import a certain number of cars. That's all they wanted to bring over to the us. No more. It's a shame as it's an awesome car. On the plus side, I go months at a time without seeing another one here in new England.

My bootleg ass regular Malibu is an amazing car. Good on gas, refuses to ever get stuck in the snow. Great reliability. Never mind the GM bells and whistles like the magnaride, heads up display, seats, brakes etc. What an awesome car ...stock, never mind the amazing stuff this guy did. Most underrated car around imho. I almost bought one with 30k miles, light green metallic paint job..it was a gem. But I couldnt afford the 50k price tag. They had like a 20$ off deal in the US when they were new.

I did a ported LSA, CAM, E85, ect on my 17 SS auto. We are over a 100lbs lighter than the 2 door Demon and can have just as much power as the race tune. So fun to surprise people who think you have a FWD V6! I love 3rd gear, 3,500RPM pulls from 65-130.
The casual Alpina B7 at 6:24 😍... but I would still take this beautiful SS over that any day of the week! I've wanted one of these for a long time and this one is such perfect example of how I'd love to build it! Props to the owner!!
These are really nice cars stock - the interior was pretty nice for the Cheby. They remind me of the Grand National back in the day idea - sleeper stock family daily. Nice build!

Love that car. You would think that it would be way more popular than it is. I watched a video on these a year or so ago and it was stated that they did not advertise it much at all. This is one of the best bargains out there in my opinion for a sport luxury sedan.

Been following these cars since they came out in 2014. It's a shame they stopped making them. Have to find one in the near future.
Love that car. You would think that it would be way more popular than it is. I watched a video on these a year or so ago and it was stated that they did not advertise it much at all. This is one of the best bargains out there in my opinion for a sport luxury sedan.
