I remember when I got Voltron for Christmas, that made my Christmas. I had gotten the die cast Lion Voltron. I remembered back when the Vehicle Voltron which was referred to as the Car Voltron to some fans came on TV, I couldn't get into it at first. As I got older, I developed a new appreciation for this Voltron. I own the series on DVD. I seen the same VV figure on Amazon , hoping for the day I can save enough money to buy it, & add it to my collection.
@KatosKollection Right, do have the cheap knock off recolored version the Vehicle Voltron figure which was called LSA Combo. I know I'ma have to kick out som dough if I wanted to get legitimate one. Hopefully one day I can get it.
Great review, now I want one! I liked your story about your grandpa; that bonding stays with you for life. For my grandpa and myself, it was Looney Tunes, Far Side comics and jigsaw puzzles. I have a similar “missed opportunity ask” re: Voltron, as well. I seem to remember asking for the vehicle team that combined from separate vehicles (might’ve been Matchbox?), and got a smaller diecast version that was a single non-transforming robot. … And the dance with modern toy makers cashing in on middle aged nostalgia continues. 😐

Man, thanks for sharing your feelings about this figure. I really love Transformers collectors and how much collecting means to us. My stepfather was a Jehovah's witness, which sucked because I lost every holiday when mom married him. My mother would sneak toys to me on their anniversary, to make up for losing Christmas. I also got the vehicle version of Voltron because I didn't know that there was more than one and didn't mention the lions. She loved the mini bots and bought me any she thought were cute. When she passed away last year, I found her collection of my toys she kept. So I'm building a display to show her favorite bots next to the Masterpiece version. So much of this hobby is therapeutic. Even watching your video and feeling happy that another person at my age, 46, has had similar experiences. Thanks again and sorry for the paragraph long comment. Ha ha

@@KatosKollection exactly! I can't wait to get Fans Toys Seaspray in this week. Seaspray was mom's favorite. She had my original and the little Maketoys one in her jewelry box. It's going to be an awesome memorial type display, when I get done.
I also asked my mom for Voltron when I was a kid and she bought the vehicle one. I was disappointed at first, but that disappointment did not last long. I did see some of the vehicle Voltron cartoon and the figure was very accurate to that show. The 1980s lion Voltron toy was very ugly. I ended up preferring the vehicle version to the lion version and still do to this day.
