@@AlaskanBallistics What are you hunting? Kodiak Bear? Have you had a critter get away from you? I know the jacket and core separates and they are not bonded together. Have you had bad experiences?
@@paulmeek7964 My rifle is a 7mm Rem Mag. I have run load development with Retumbo, H4350, H1000 & IMR4451. Retumbo has best load in Magnum range & IMR4451 in a slower 7mm-08+ type velocities. 2825fps to 2950.
My 6.5 prc absolutely loves the 143eldx aswell it's a savage high country and I'm getting .25" groupings out of a off the shelf hunting rifle so I'm not surprised
Hard to believe you got that result with the Norma. I bought 8 boxes of the Norma 143 match and got the same accuracy as I get with the 143 ELDX, about 3/4 moa. Others I talked to that bought it think it's a great round. Need to run a batch past the Lab Radar to see how consistently it is loaded and get a good velocity for my calculator. Thanks for the video.
The Hornady Precision Hunter in my old Savage 110 bolt and my Weatherby Vanguard 270 Winchester are very accurate as well. I believe them to be the most accurate ammunition from the factory in the rifles I have.
Nice video, I just bought a Seekins PH2 in 6.5PRC and I've shot factory ELD-M and Norma Match. The Hornady shot about a 2" group and the Norma shot about 1/2" - 3/4" groups. And was able to buy Norma from Ammoseek for about $21/box so I bought 400 rounds.
Best reason to buy Norma ammo is for the brass to reload. Of course it's a nice perk if it shoots well to begin with. If you can find it I get Lapua brass first, then Norma
Killed my cow with the Hornady Precision Hunter last year in Helena at 270yds. Had complete jacket seperation from the core. Took 2 shots to kill her. Very accurrate ammo but the bullets dont hold up. Working up hand loads with the Norma bonded bullets and Ramshot Magnum at the moment.
I think bonded or solid copper are probably best for Elk. I'm going to use the Hornady on deer. Good luck this fall and thanks for watching! Please subscribe!
Try using some other fouled rounds first. Then shoot the Hornady first, then the Norma to have a fair assessment. Try a five shot group. If you are counting on these results for hunting. You got the tag, spent time and money to get there and back. Time off work. You have a big investment. .. And COUNTING ON YOUR ACCURACY TEST. A FEW MORE SHOTS...TO REALLY MAKE THEM COUNT.... JUST A THOUGHT FROM A FELLOW HUNTER...GOOD LUCK.
The totality of measurement methods of a round's inherent accuracy not withstanding, the variable of the precise dimensions of your rifle's chamber vs. an ammo factory's consistently produced case dimension will have an affect on which of these rounds shoot better in your rifle. I'm now experimenting with Norma Bondstrike and Hornady ELD-X in 30-06 180 grn. In my plain-Jane Weatherby Vanguard they both shoot MOA (even sub-MOA under certain conditions) at 100 yards. Virtually interchangeable. So, we need to proceed with caution about inherent accuracy based solely on your demonstration.
I picked up a couple boxes of Norma Bondstrike as well. As soon as work slows down a bit I will be testing it out. I really want to use it on Elk this fall.
Hornady is very good but when I hand load it I get better results than their factory ammo. My 7mm rem Mag is hole in hole at 100yards with my hand loads all the factory ammo of different brands where huge disappointments. One inch groups at 300 yards hand loading speaks for itself. Same with all my firearms Hornaday components and Max powder charge and different bullet depths make the world of difference .
If you have the time and components to work up a load like that more power to you. I like to reload as well but if I can get a 3/8ths group with factory ammo I'll take it. I think this might give confidence to someone who doesn't reload a very good choice to go hunting with. Thanks for watching!
@@montanamusings yes sir all day but I for some reason get the bastard child rifle and have to load them outta the box my 7mm rem Mag was 3 to 6 inch groups at 100 yards with factory ammo. I was pissed to say the least after trying different brands and types talked to the old man he said dump it or hand load it . Wish box ammo grouped like your does in my rifle.
Tbh, norma is crap nowadays. Once a time Norma was the standard for swedish/scandinavian competition shooting but since they got bought up and started investing in the US market, their quality has gone to crap. The GTX line of bullets are not made by themself but some other maker inside the RUAG concern. Fellow bench rest shooters bought the .30 GTX and they where really uneven and shot like crap despite beeing marketed for competition/extreme precision. Lapua is way better, often cheaper and makes great powders.
Thanks for the insight! Thanks for watching! I did get a 3/8ths inch group a couple weeks earlier out ofthe same box. I'm sure it was my shooting that was off.
Own a Howa 1500 HCR in 6.5 PRC.
Ammunition Is hard to find but not obsolete.
Hope to get some range time soon. Thanks for publishing this video

Those ELD-X bullets are very accurate! Thanks for sharing!
They usually are accurate but you better earhole your game

I'm thinking after you shot the first three shot the barrel is hot. You have to let it cool to have a better test

Would be nice to see some followup groups with the hornady eldx. On 3 shot group could be a fluke. It would be nice to see 5-6 more groups to be sure.
Just because it's good doesn't mean it's a fluke.😂🤣

I agree. Bergers have such a great rep for accuracy but I'll take a 3/ 8ths group from Hornady any day. Thanks for watching!

I shot two tikka veil in 6.5 prc with Hornady eldx. Both shot 1/4 inch 5 shot groups at 100 yards.
Great shooting! Thanks for watching!
The ELD X group measured 3/8ths of an inch!
Thanks

Slide forward so your left arm is on the bench !!
Usually Norma does better than that. At least you have brass to reload
Ya, in my UA-cam short my last three shots were a1/2 inch group. I'd have to say it was me.
What is the rifle that you are shooting ?
Winchester XPR. For the money it's a pretty darn good rifle. The moa trigger is crisp. I just ordered a Boyds AT-1 stock for it.
