The entire pregame is 180BPM (beats per minute.) The opposing team's fight song is also modified for the unique all-brass (and percussion) sound of The Ohio State University Marching Band. Since other bands have flutes, clarinets and maybe some auxillary percussion, modifications must be made. I've seen other bands play OSU's song and yeah...it's definitely not the same, but it's certainly a great nod.
its a different view but hard to watch to a point. i know theres one with a go pro that was attached to the hat thats a bit older that i thought was a cool view. he was same position as this guy too. still a cool band and i never get sick seeing this.
Perhaps a member can answer this. I’m looking at OSU for school and would like to march, but over the summer Ill be marching DCI. Obviously I will have to miss camp. Will the marching band still alow me to participate?
Assuming you made it in, but if you didn’t, I would recommend the athletic band. We play all the marching band music and perform at tons of different games.

Im confused, im gonna sound dumb but what kind of marching snare Is that , I've seen one set up like that , snores have harnesses but that has a clip or something, if someone could explain to me , it would be much appreciated.
their preshow is very traditional, the battery high-step, wear straps and play all the original music. Once it comes to their halftime shows, they wear carrier/harnesses and glidestep.
This is the clearest that I've heard it but I sitll can't make out what he shouts at 0:31 - something like "Drums on the side... 3-2-Go!"? Can anyone help me out please? Thank you
Gooster X I really don’t think there is sheet music for ramp cadence itself. I could be wrong, but there is for the Buckeye Battle Cry, Script, Across the field etc
Xavier_tulo Kevlar heads and modern marching snares have a very plunky ticking sound compared to conventional concert snares or traditional marching rope snares which is what they miss
3 am. I don't even have a drum
If I didn’t signal you to stop, you’d still be out there beating your damn drum
i just died lmfaoo good memories
The most underrated part of pregame has to be watching bass drum script ups
Amazing video for a future Buckeye drummer to learn this.
That’s me
I like how they wrote their own version of Indiana our Indiana. They always respect the other schools and their bands

thatdrumguy2020 yea, there are many members that do DCI and manage the band schedule as well!

You have to be at candidate days, which is the day after world class finals in order to participate.

THAT is a kick ass video. I loved this. Thank you for the drummer's prospective.
you should see the go pro one thats attached to the hat and its a bit older then this one but the position is the same.
Thank you for uploading this! COOL perspective
I love the timing of the beat he does with his thumb at 4:17. Great vid

XxxGhostGamerxxX it is held on by a strap, if you need more info look at drum line or google it

It is referred to as a sling. This was the standard for mounting a field drum until the late 1970s.
Go Bucks❤️❤️❤️❤️

@@SerLevi I'm in the athletic band currently, the drums do have music I believe, but its so simple that no one really uses it.
That was hot🔥
a testament to smooth marching that the camera isn't going everywhere!
Well the camera is fixed to the drum, and the drum is swaying
Were there Tenors here?
Yes
jawshi04 yeah you can hear them
Here's a tenor cam for a different pregame: ua-cam.com/video/8eEn0L6Co8g/v-deo.html

what kind of gopro clip?

The Cosmic Artist what drum heads are the snares using
Remo White max
The old ones (switched maybe 3-4 years ago) were Remo PowerStroke 77. IMO, those sounded more like a traditional snare.

Love the band and all, but will any drummer ever explain to someone in charge that snare drummers aren't supposed to wear gloves?
They luckily don't wear them for the halftime but gloves and drumming suck lmao
