My friend is a big fan of black diamond trekking poles, he tries to go higher end but I have been with him on two backpacking trips where he broke 2 sets in 1 year! He takes care of his stuff really well and is not clumsy (like me), he went ahead and invested in a new pair of black diamond poles and they have lasted him like 6 years now. My brother also uses black diamond and his have held up really well.
Travel pole, I like my Leki Speed lock Vario. Same deployment method as the Black Diamond, and collapses to 15 inches and aluminum. But cork and rubber handles and longer choke up area. Also the standard REI rubber tips fit perfectly and they come in a really nice bag.
The problem with black Dimond 7075 Aluminum is that it has poor corrosion resistance . BD carbon broke on me several times so it is not an option . Now I try new Leki Aluminum with speed lock 2 plus - this company makes only poles . It seems that the building quality is better on Leki then the Black Dimond and has more categories for poles like true pro Nordic poles
I use fully organic sticks from the side of the trail. Made of responsibly sourced stick, the sticks are reliable, in abundance in wooded areas, and provide great durability. I do, however, not recommend these for pole vaulting.
How reliable are the locking mechanisms versus the twist to tighten poles? It seems the locking would loosen over time and would need constant adjusting.
Aluminum poles will do for anyone needs to rely on trekking poles if they aren’t use to using poles or for any reason need more support and longevity. When carbon fiber gives out, you will not be able to use the pole at all, but you might be to salvage a aluminum pole at least to get you home safe. Buy push button lock z poles because the more complicated and more adjustable features a pole has, the quicker they tend to fail and with a heavy weight that will just speed up the process. Black diamond distance FLZ is all you got is 100 bucks and they are aluminum , or if you can get 200 bucks you’re looking at black diamond distance carbon z but they are made from carbon fiber but also are fixed once they are extended so that’s why I use poles similar to this because it’s one less thing that can fail, but I know what height works for me, so I have no need to adjust them. You can look it up only if you aren’t sure what height you should use.
that background, that's washington or oregon or upstate forrest, isn't it? slightly creepy and eerie muted green when it's dark and cloudy. don't like those areas. lots of 411 involving those areas.
black Diamond poles at REI $130 bucks...black diamond pole at moosejaw $97 Bucks!! i buy all my outdoor gear from moosejaw best place for all you're outdoor needs... i wouldn't but ANYTHING from REI!!
So, like a gazillion portable sticks, and they could only be bothered to put a camera mount on ONE. These companies need to learn to work for the money. That 1/4-20 stud is also perfect for securing it to a tarp grommet when you're setting up a shelter, but so many companies act like that extra tenth of an ounce is a deal breaker.
People usually love tracking poles until they break their wrist or wake up with a sore wrist after a day's hike. They cause overloading of the elbow joint, inflammation of wrist tendons, tearing of the thumb joint, overloading of the wrist joint. Healthy people under 70 do not need to use them when walking at all. But everyone has to figure that out for themselves. It's just marketing and how to make money from monkeys. Mine ended up in the trash after 30 km, when I found out what causes it in the body when under load. But unfortunately this is not selling well on YT.
I love the enthusiasm from these two.
I just bought the Black Diamond Ergo Cork and LOVE them!

Staffs are also really nice because not all of us have two hands.

The monopod thing is food. Use mine frequently. But if u only want one pole for hiking, just taking one trekking pole is better than the staff.
I think the biggest advantage to using a staff versus two poles is the amount of situations where you can cosplay as Gandalf.
Just let the hikers pass @PhatChin 😂
Love the gear guides series!
Leki WC SL TBS Ski Poles for snowshoeing and MSR DYNALOCK ASCENT CARBON for trekking.
Hi, Ho tech, I see you drank the cool-aid and nice shades of hair colors! I got your name from the Auto English captions at 0.01, cool name too!

Using tracking poles might make me less old when I need it...
What jackets are they wearing? Each?
Looks like Arc'teryx Zeta series? SL?
@@themocaw could be wrong but think she's wearing beta hybrid
Can these be used for Nordic walking?
Am I the only one who heard that yelling at 2:50?

No reviews found on the Leki Legacy Lite Cor-Tec link you provided......
Single pole could work for folks that have a dog on a leash.
where can i get black diamond alpine carbon pole straps replacement?
Hi! Try the vendor direct. Here's a link for one of the strap replacements Black Diamond carries: bit.ly/3z2D4Zj
Single pole is great if you have a tipi style shelter as well.

What is recommended for a guy with heavy weight?

Just so you know, when hotec said “I dig it” the subtitles said I ( n word) just thought I’d let you know.
Corbin Arnold is that why they only have Spanish subtitles now lol
Oh shock horror
I think I have a crush on Miranda!
The best trekking poles are the ones at Costco… carbon fiber and cheap… pick what you need to spend money one… a stick is not one of them
except the locking mechanism on the costco trekking pole is bad, keep slipping out of position, drives me crazy
@@Belldandyxinxin mine seem fine

👍
Why can they keep it simple and make the entire locking mechanism of metal... Every complaint I see is because the locking mechanism fail...
Lamo there option under 100$ is 99.95$
Under $100 trekking pole
Looks at price $99 smh
