    Will Canada win the third-place match?

      I think so

      Losing to Canada would be a huge embarrassment in front of so many and the referees won't help us either. I don't think Uruguay will want to lose to Canada. And the fact that we are unable to score, and that Jessie wants to rightfully take the opportunity to expose up and coming players... I don't see Canada taking 3rd spot in the tournament. But hey, strange things can happen.

      With Uraguay on less rest, probable suspensions, and generally not caring I think Canada has a distinct advantage

      Yes. Marsch is lying through his teeth about playing 2nd stringers just to confuse Bielsa. Whoever of the starters is fit, that is who he will play

      I wish I could say yes, but I think they'll lose 2-0. Canada has exceeded expectations. They've played so well at this tournament. But similar to how many Canadians thought we could beat Argentina, Uruguay is a tremendous team and they are a couple notches above Canada. Who knows what team Uruguay will have IF Copa America officials give them suspensions and who knows how strong their motivation will be after that crushing loss against Colombia. I'm anticipating that Davies will not be starting for Canada and we're going to see several new starters which likely will impact Canada's chances. This is a tough one. Marsch needs to give his depth players experience against strong opponents in tough competition...and this is clearly an opportunity to do so. But, getting 3rd place is something you don't want to squander. Not only will it mean hardware from one of the world's best tournaments, but it also would give Canada more respect, provide them with another million dollars worth of prize money and go down historically as Canada's best ever finish at a major tournament (sorry, Gold Cup doesn't count). Hopefully Canada can pull off the upset. And now that the bar is higher, we must demand that Canada hosts strong opponents at home. Quality games against quality opponents on home soil is badly needed. Let's go!

    Tani shaff and fonzi all in the attack would be fun to watch but not at the last 10 minutes of the game. Tani needs more time. A start maybe.

    I like Canada's chances, I think Uruguay just want this tournament to be over.

    Marsch vs Bielsa. The revered former Leeds skipper vs the man who replaced him and leeds fans loved to blame for everything. Tasty matchup...

    Darwin may be suspended for fighting fans also. Would be nice to see some guys get extended minutes (Tani, Ahmed starting on the the right, choiniere to come in earlier for eustaqiuo so he gets some extra time). Laryea in at left back if davies is injured

    • @mig3598
      @mig3598 Місяць тому

      I agreed with everything you said until the last point. We don’t need to see more of Laryea if we’re giving younger guys a shot. Laryea is among the older and most capped players in this squad. We still have no idea how up to speed de Fourgerolles or Hiebert are and it’d be a better shout to at least give them some minutes

      @@mig3598 I saw Heibert for 10 minutes against France and that was more than enough time for me to realize he's not up to speed

    • @mig3598
      @mig3598 Місяць тому

      @@stevekaradimas7925 that’s a laughable take. You’re talking about a guy whose highest level competition to that point was MLS competition. If that’s how quickly you judge players and you were in charge of this team, Bombito would never have been called up again after his subpar performances against CONCACAF minnows last year in gold cup. Players need more opportunity than 10 minutes against World Cup runner ups France before you write them off🤦🏽‍♂️

    Josh, you've been wrong about many things in this Copa America tournament... But you've been most wrong about Cyle Larin and what's been going on up front with him and I'm surprised you, out of anyone, missed this discussion point! If we go back to the Argentina game, take another look at how Argentina went about setting up a trap for Cyle Larin (and Jonathan David) by dropping deep when they did not have the ball. So it was next to impossible for Cyle Larin (and David) to play to their strengths with no space behind... I'm just saying because you're saying the big story line is not being able to create chances, and I agree, but Argentina put on a master class...
    As for Uruguay, as I've been saying, let's forget about "playing fair the Canadian way" and all that bullshit... It's time to take a flurry of yellows, dirty tackles, choke out a few of Uruguayan players while jostling for positioning on set pieces... And the key to victory is to foul all game long... If we don't do these things against Uruguay, we won't win. And the importance of this third place game (Sharman's "English arrogance" towards the game is what it is...) But this game matters... Argentina put the "core" of this year's team together in that third place game in 2019 that they won; and this Argentina team is quite possibly the greatest soccer team of all time- and it started from that 3rd place game. Let's just temper our expectations a little bit and refocus... We have a huge learning curve to go, especially when it comes to mastering the dark arts of the South American game (De Paul put on a master class for us to learn from)... But will we learn? That's another big question...

      I think the issue for Larin and David is more about the lack of quality service especially with only 2 midfielders. I believe a 3rd mid would open up the offense and protect the middle of the pitch better.
      South American teams are small and want to play through the middle I don't understand why we let them with this formation. They caused so much more chaos when Koné, Choinière and Osorio were on at the same time. Hopefully Marsch noticed it too.
