Thank you Fung Bros for having me!! I was so full the whole day, but it was so worth it. Next time let me know when we're going to be cooking in the back so I don't wear a tiny top haha. JK I probs still would.
14:04 NO. Ding Tai Fung was inspired by the food from the region of Shanghai and adjacent, such as Hangzhou and Suzhou, NOT the other way around - Ding Tai Fung originated in Taipei, Taiwan by a Chinese mainlander, who in the original restaurant in Taipei hired in early 1970’s a retired Chiang Kaishek military man, who was skilled at the food of Shanghai, such as “xiao long bao”. In the original restaurant of Ding Tai Fung in Taipei, one can still taste today in 2020 the REAL “xiao long bao” that are incomparably better than any other branch in the world, as agreed upon nonchalantly by the Ding Tai Fung owner family themselves. Also, the rice and alcoholic flavour in the dessert soup at the end were actually “fermented sweet rice 酒釀 ” itself, which is the product of the very beginning of a sake brewing process.
Go Fung Bros. food! Ewa from nom life is hot. Fung Bris gotta holla holla at the Ewa!!! For the soup dumplings yo! Ewa had a real nice outfit goings ons. 👊
Just to throw this out there...the term XiaoLongPao (soup dumplings) was also used to describe woman with small tata...Well it doesn't mean it is bad though. Btw, Ewa is gorgeous. It was amazing the Fung Bros can stay so composed thru out the show...Haha.
@paperfragment I would order all the soup dumplings! Where were you guys my last trip to NY in Nov. when I was on a soup dumpling search?! How did I miss this?
Wow Andrew you kept it professional. 👏The pretty lady stood by your side throughout. You claim she smart, plus she has her hustle legit plus she came dressed to impress. Look that is the place where you take your best friend eat several different dishes either go shopping, museum, .... The food has alway been excellent.
This is really exciting because it sounds like maybe the vegetable soup dumplings are vegetarian? I've always wanted to try xiao long bao but haven't been able to since they all have meat/meat broth. Would def order that!
Oh I want to try the truffle shao long bao & the fish with pepper corn. But seriously everything looks so good I might want to try a lot of the dishes they had. & the lobster looks awesome.
guys we in the middle of a lockdown in the middle kingdom but Wuhan has amazing cuisine, hope you can visit after the craziness is over and taste our amazing breakfast dishes, hot dry noodles will change your world
Xiao long (means small container) pao (means bun) there is also a soupy variant, using aspic (easy melt fats) that liqiufies when hot. When in Taiwan, look for Ba Fang,. it is cheap and delicious. A 70 kg person will have to spend $3.50 each meal to be satiated.
xiao long bao is fun to make at home but takes a lot of time... yummm, i wanna try this place.. and nom_life is the best she's so gorgeous! i'm sure everyone is gonna say emma stone ish
@the_sorcerersupreme This video was great in helping me explore and expand my experience with mainland china cuisine! I would try the dessert and the shu mais.
I went to NYC a few times and tried as many chinese places as I can, but never did find anything that tasted good. This looks like it might be a very tasty place.... Will definitely have to go give it a try the next time I hit NYC. P.S. I didn't think Din Tai Fung was all that. I think it's way over hyped. There are many mom and pop places that can easily serve more tasty foods and buns and for cheaper prices and no wait.
@drjackief I would def get the xiao long baos to compare since I have been to Din Tai Fung in Taichung. But I would also try the nanjing salted duck and the mini red bean bun! Visiting New York soon
- hello fb, the xiao long bao have you checked in with joe's shanghai on pell in downtown. the est date of joe's shanghai was in 1997 autumn there was a writeup in world journal (xie gai ye bao) - see if the newspaper stand on doyers remember when they open. it's funny how the vinegar sauce dish is one per steam basket. like to hole a little and pour the vinegar in. thanks again - best luck to your grand start. elle for up wave

I've been to Hangzhou before. Nice place. Great food. Especially, West Lake. Great landscape scenery. (Shanghai & Hangzhou. My two favorite places to go to in China.)
I love XLBs and honestly all of them look delicious. I've never had lobster prepared that way, so I'd definitely order that. IG Handle: @wdaviesphotography. We're seeing a similar culture shift here in D.C. Metropolitan Area. There are more Asian food halls opening up and the exposure to new cuisines is on the rise. There is still a long way to go as I had an old co-worker explain she googled headaches and Chinese food and she stumbled on MSG... I rolled my eyes and shut my mouth. The food at 3 Times seems very humble. You can tell even through the video that the food itself amazing and doesn't need fancy gimmicks. Restaurants like this are important to me because they promote tradition and heritage in a friendly manner. It's important for the world of food to modernize, but not forget where it originates from.
Thank you Fung Bros for having me!! I was so full the whole day, but it was so worth it. Next time let me know when we're going to be cooking in the back so I don't wear a tiny top haha. JK I probs still would.

As a guy born in Shanghai, I tell you, Xiao Long Bao from Din Tai Fung is not qualified. But very close.
What did that dude say at the early part of the video?

Willfulwanderer,
Dish 1: HK Sauteed Lobster
