"Strangers" is the first of many songs I plan to release this year. I have a song book full of songs I wrote in middle school and high school that have been waiting to be produced and released to the public. I plan to "free the unreleased," as many of you have asked me to on my live streams. "Strangers" is a song about self-discovery. Maybe you had a friendship or relationship where the person felt like your other half. When you lost them, you felt like half a whole. This song is about trying to find the positive in a sad situation. "And I may hate it, that we're strangers now, but before I didn't know me at all." You may be on your own now, but now you have the chance to discover yourself. Learn to love who you are.

I almost screamed. Dude. The first time you played this on stream, everyone in chat (me included) fell in love with the song. I'm having this scenario happen with my best friend right now. She left my school, we go to different church wards, so I only get to see her once a week for archery tournaments, and only for a couple hours. It's not that we aren't friends anymore, we're just... Distant. She has new friends that she hangs out with, ones she can actually see regularly. I'm grateful that she isn't alone, but now... It feels like the strong bond we had is fading.
On the other hand, I've learned to be independent. For the first time in my life I can look at myself and see not what other people see me as, not what other people want me to be, not even what I want me to be but what I am. And now when I see my friend hanging out with other people... I smile. I'm glad she is able to have friends she can hang out with. I'm not jealous, which is surprising to me. I used to be so clingy... But now I know who I am, and I don't have to let my identity be "Someone else's friend". I'm me. My own person. My own personality, my own strengths, my own weaknesses. Myself. I didn't realize how much I needed this until I found it.
Thank you for this song, Amanda Fagan. Enjoy the memories you have with your friend, along with the freedom you have from being independent. There's always a bright side to these situations.

im in a similar spot. when covid hit we kept in touch for a few years, but a little bit ago i realized we havent spoken in months. she's no longer the first one i think to text when im bored or to go hang out with. she has a life and new friends and im still kinda lonely as i homeschool now and i have crazy anxiety over texting too much. what hurts the most is that we were best friends(basically my only friend) for 12+ years. i miss her but im definitely in a better spot now.

THIS IS AMAZING! I really relate to this idea of being best friends and so close to not even knowing each other. It’s so weird to know who people used to be, but not know them anymore. I haven’t seen some people since graduating high school but I still see them on Facebook and hope they’re doing well.
