Interesting setup. I play on PS4 and my button layout is this: The Melee, Devil Breaker, Jump, Exceed, and Lock-On buttons are still set to their default setting. I left these alone as i saw no reason to change them because my thumb is big enough and the PS4 buttons are close enough together that i can still charge a devil breaker while using melee attacks. I changed The Gun, Devil Trigger, Devil Bringer, and Break Away buttons. I changed the Gun button to the right trigger because it just felt more natural to have it there as well as being able to charge shots while attacking. I changed the Devil Trigger button to the left bumper because i'm able to rest my index finger on the bumper which makes it easier to activate DT. I changed the Devil Bringer button to the square button because it makes it easier to use Bringer Knuckle during combos as you stated in the video even though yours is mapped to the opposite circle button. Break Away is mapped to the D-Pad because i honestly didn't know where else to put it and i don't really use it that much so it doesn't need to be in immediate reach.
Wow this is almost exactly the same as my controller set up. The only difference is I have the breaker on the d pad so I never break my arm on accident.
I play Nero like this: Red Queen - R1 Ex Act - L2/LT Buster - R2/RT Blue Rose - 'Square'/back button left DT - 'Triangle' Devil Breaker - 'Circle' Jump - 'X' Lock-On - L1/back button right
@vladimilson222 it's easier to position the camera & attack independently, rather than relying on my thumb for everything. I think Control Type E [or F] in FF16 is pretty similar.
Mine is R2:lock on R1:Devil bringer L1: Devil breaker O: Break away Evrything else is the same. I do want to try some more control setups, hence why I'm here.
Problem is that every slash has its own timing. General rule is that the blade is in front of Nero on it's max reach. It is also easier to set a frame limit effectively giving more time to perform it (as every animation frame takes more ms). Or you can be a mad lad going 144+ FPS LOL.
I mostly kept the controls the same except switching around the Devil Bringer to X and the Gun Attack to R2 just so I could charge my gun easier and also bringer Knuckle is much closer. I also put DT on LB just for familiarity and Break Away on D-pad because I don't use Break Away that much. I am tempted to put Exceed on B and Devil Breaker on LT just to make sure the charging works, but I am not sure
The only thing I've changed is I swapped gun and Break Away, it just feels better that way and I'm so used to everything else that it feels off if I swap too much around
My set up is: Untouched: RB for lock-on, A to jump Melee: X -> that's what I rolled with for the other DMC games and didn't want to change it Devil Trigger: LB -> other characters have it there and I wanted to have it normalized so I don't have to get used to changes every time I play someone else. For the same reason it annoyed me every time when I accidentally used Break Away Break Away: D-pad -> drastically reduced risk I do it accidentally Gun attack: LT -> for the sake of just being able to keep it held indefinitely and release coloured up shot wheneaver I need it Devil Breaker: RT -> ease of access along with ability to overcharge it while still comboing Exceed: Y -> the closest remaining button to what I use for melee attack. Took getting used to but now melee comboing is a rhytm game for me; I'm hitting X for melee attacks until I reach point I'm used to exceed at, like first attack if I go for combo B, second attack if I go for any other combo, second hit of aerial rave B (or whatever nero's air combo is called) etc, then quickly move thumb to hit Y for exceed timing and then back to X to continue the combo and then go from there. B combo is basically just mashing X twice and then hitting Y quickly to exceed every other hit. Devil Bringer: B -> last unused button left and it's pretty comfortable for me, to buster enemies I can't be meleeing anyway. This limits my ability to use the knuckle move or shield but eh, I make due without them. Only really use the knuckle when taunting, as a combo flourish right before chaining it into buster or as follow-up from sweep to kill momentum on the enemy before they fly away.
I actually used the default controls through DH and SOS. I only switched around the Exceed and Gun because I was having a hard time while replaying mission 20. Helped me a lot
Late but I'm a KH player so there was absolutely no way melee wasn't going on X (I don't know X-Box orientation). Everything else was pretty much the same.
Honestly, Blue Rose should (even slower) charge by itself. It could be rarely used in combos without sacrificing control or breaking fingers.

@@vladimilson222 how do you play? Vanilla controls, keyboard?

Honestly a timing tutorial on exceed would be awesome. Still learning it :/
personnally
I have learned over time

@@Weirdaman THANK YOU SO MUCH I CAN CONSISTENTLY HIT IT NOW
@@Weirdaman wait does higher fps seriously make exceed harder to time?

As a longtime keyboard and mouse dmc 5 player
Controller is hard
I actually used the default controls through DH and SOS. I only switched around the Exceed and Gun because I was having a hard time while replaying mission 20. Helped me a lot

I like my exceed on LB than the trigger. somehow it feels hard timing with the trigger. any tips on exceeding and max-act?
Mine is almost the same except I use r2 for devil breaker and circle for devil breaker
We almost had the same binds lol
