- Kevin Keegan was making just his fifth appearance for Liverpool when Leicester visited Anfield in August 1971. The Foxes meanwhile were back in the top flight after a two-year absence, and could boast Peter Shilton amongst their number. Liverpool had put three goals past both Nottingham Forest and Wolves in their first two home games, and they would repeat the trick here. Gerald Sinstadt commentates.

This was my first away match as a Leicester City fan and wow what an atmosphere it was unbelievable! But the thing I remember most is that when Leicester scored it was greeted with absolute silence as only a handful of fans had travelled up from the Midlands. Even though we lost it was still an amazing experience.
Wow ! A late career cameo from the legendary, and thoroughly underated, Peter Thompson. Just wonder if this was his last game for Liverpool.
Can't get enough 70s Liverpool football . I grew up watching them terrorize the league. I wore number 7 because of KG
Back at that time, front seats were so close to the field. People were so humble. Security wasn't an issue.
Today, it's totally opposite. Wow, If i could go back in time.
My first game ever on the Kop, and on Emlyn Hughes' birthday.
Look out for Jimmy Krankie running on to jump on Tosh at 7:30 LOL
This was my first full season as a Liverpool supporter.
"Those were the days my friend, I thought they'd never end!" Unfortunately I, like Mary Hopkins, have succumbed to age and at 55 am drawing nearer to the grave. Thanks for these memories of better times!
Know the feeling, another year closer to our grave eh!☹
Bloomin' 'eck, mate. Why so grim, 55 isn't that old these days.
@@vordman aye it's almost whipper snapper these days
Some lovely play here, but also a rare occasion where Tommy Smith is severely clouted! Keegan so quick and instinctive, Callaghan and Hall so tireless in midfield. Heighway .. Hughes.. some great players there
As a Red, i know Leicester were always tough opponents in the 70's
The Kop singing 'We gonna win the league..."...in August!!!
From 6:00 min
Kop! 3d goal 😯
when football was football
Get out there and fight for it, that’s the game we used to play
Clemence in one goal, and Shilton in the other, right at the start of their careers. And, they let in 5 goals between them!
At least Clemence keep his trousers on in public
I wish City had kept John Farrington for longer. He formed a great partnership with Len Glover being on the left wing.
About 30p to get in
I was there in the
Anfield
Road end with
Peter kelly
Billy
Edwards and a few other top boys
Godder leader of the
Dingle skinheads
no sponsors on shirt, tackling and no VAR - great stuff - and some great players on display
RIP today´s football.
Ironic that Leicester have won more premier league titles than Liverpool
Yeah, football only started when division one changed in to the premiership, nothing before that counts 🙄🙄🙄
Old First Division titles were much more invaluable...we had to play more GAMES to become champions...anywayz..its just a change in name... the old first division was indeed the 'premier' league in england during those days
Yes I knew that bot leicester never won champions 6 times or fa cup 8 times you twit
The more I watch emelyn hughes the more I see Steven gerrard
Clemence vs Shilton
Jesus christ what a feck up by Ray Clemence!
This was season before Shilton discovered protein shakes and Steroids 😆 🤣 😂
showberg looks like he's 50 yo
I like those old shits indeed, that was the time when they are not made in China.
Ray the walley goalkeeper not batch on liverpools keeper today he was to blame for Liverpool 3 year home unbeaten run came to the end against my home team leicester 2-1 what a walley couldn't the the ball that day
Sorry mate Clemence was a legend, served LFC with distinction Allison is the first goalie to come close since he left.. he was better than your Shitton anyway lol
@David Reed you're either fucking pissed out your skull or a blue nose
@@darganx No chance. Not even a fan of any of Shiltons teams. He was just better
Can count on one hand the mistakes Ray made all career.Maybe 3 or 4.
So much forward passing.Unlike intermitable square balls these days
when english leagues dominated by real englishmen not some colored kind
Fuck off
Now you all know why England never won the World Cup in the Seventies ... they had Clemence in goal!!
Eddie Power
Come on. That is not fair. He was great
Shilton got way more caps than Clemence.
@@gary1961 Shilton would have got even more if not for Clemence. Also count the medals - Clemence won close on 3 times more than Shilton!
which is why shilton let three in in this game. eddie power go home yer drunk ya melt.
the fact that they didn't qualify made it even more difficult...
