How I prep fresh flowers for my cakes

- I had to add a little sticker because a little bit of my neck was showing. Normally I wouldn’t care because it’s not that big of a deal but I knew I was going to get Comments pointing it out and so I wouldn’t have to deal with that, I just covered it up with a sticker. 🥰🥰 next time I’ll have to be more careful because I really did want to share this video with you guys. 
As a florist, I love the straw technique! I've seen people use florist tape, foil, or plastic wrap to wrap the stems before inserting. I've also seen people trim the stem completely and make a faux stem with toothpicks by stabbing it directly into the bottom of the flower head. This is probably the quickest, but doesn't work with all types of flowers.
I love the toothpick method too because you’re right, some stems won’t work with the straws. 🥰

I have only done real roses once on a cake, and did the tooth pick method. Honestly didn't care for it. I ordered the floral tape and wire off Amazon, and Hopefully will get a chance to use it soon. But didn't know about straws until recently.
Why don't you like the wire and floral tape method?
I actually have a couple uses for it, so it won't got to waste. Was just trying to understand more.

One time I was like, "oh I'll just use saltwater to kill all the germs" which worked PERFECTLY, until a few hours later and all the flowers wilted 😅😅

Those flowers are probably naturally cleaner than the garbage they sell us in the grocery stores. Roses are actually delicious to eat.

Once they are refrigerated, they can last a full 24 hours. But I do also place them on the day of 🥰
Always wait till day of,but you can keep flowers fresh for longer if you keep them in the fridge. So but them a day or no more then 2 a head of time to get the freshest flowers, trim the bottom of the stems (1/4") and put in fresh water, place in fridge. You could also wash them before sticking them in the fridge I guess, but don't cut until your ready use. They last longer that way

It's called a "naked" cake. Minimal frosting for people that don't want their cake too sweet.
