      Could be a mental health issue. If it is, how would the team/ league treat it (so far they’re seemingly making this very public) Telling someone with major depression (for example) to go fuck themselves (essentially) is a bad look. He won't be missed. K'Andre Miller and Adam Fox are here now. Nils Lundquist and Brandon Schneider are on the way. Did he put up points? Yes, in one season. Before that he was struggling to stay in the lineup and got sent down and benched or scratched because he's always been a disaster in his own zone. He was a pylon in the playoffs and was a dumpster fire this season. On top of that he chirped his own goalie after an OT Loss...a loss where he was on the ice for 4 or the 5 goals against and did nothing help AG out. AG and ADA had issues with each other when they were in HFD together and ADA has had issues with other players in the room as well. Taking him on was a mistake and it's blown up in JG's face as they have to manage this crisis and on top of that move a problematic player who carries a 4.4 mil AAV who is not playing right now. Good luck finding a team that will take him off your hands now, you'd be lucky to get a turkey sandwich and a 5th round pick while having to retain half his salary. He'll end up collecting his money, wait to be bought out and probably end up in Europe where he will bounce from team to team as he continues to wear out his welcome wherever he goes.
    And none of this decision had to do with the abhorrent stuff he'd put out on Twitter either. No one wants to say it, but there are a lot more people in the NHL who agree with the things he'd say but would never admit it and NYR told him he could keep doing it but he had to "watch his tone." Hence the name of that cringefest of a podcast of his.
    I'm glad he's gone, but it has come far too late. At least the team can finally move on without having to deal with that kind of a cancer in the locker room.

    I'd also add that this isn't giving him a 2nd or 3rd chance. He has been a constant issue in each league he has played in. That cap hit is going to be difficult to move. Rangers would need to retain anywhere up to half, especially with other teams knowing that this guy is a recurring problem. Rule out any teams that aren't winning because he won't fit into that situation well at all. Personally, rangers should wait till December, buy out his contract for the 1/3rd and the league should say goodbye to him. If he wants to play he can go to the KHL and play there. I'd also find it very interesting to see someone from another team make a run at him and see how many team mates go to his defence. I would guess that number would be very slim if any.

    i couldn't help but roll my eyes when Callahan said that they'll miss TDA on the ice, not only is he awful in the locker room but he's a defensive liability. I don't care how many points he scored last year, when your team's "top 4 defenseman" has a below 50% corsi for percentage and your goalie's save percentage when he's on the ice was in the high 70's-low 80's, red flags start flying even without the off-ice stuff. Also keep in mind during his "career year" last year he had 65 giveaways...just a thought but maybe he's not a great defenceman

  • @claraskletter1599
    @claraskletter1599 3 роки тому +17

    The problem here is the hiring of Coach David Quinn who has failed this team and caused the trouble with the team chemistry and morale. He has played favorites to veterans and can’t coach the young kids as is evident with his handling with Kappo Kakko and Lafreniere getting ice time plus with the team, juggling of lines, playing favorite to certain players and the use of power play unit 1, juggling with goalies and their psyche. Quinn should not be the Head Coach. That’s the problem. Tony DeAngelo has issues but he is a talented young player but the Rangers play Smith, Johnson etc. no discipline by the Coach. No structure by the head Coach. Quinn has to go. Win tonight or not I still want a real head coach with NHL coaching experience and a coach that knows how to be a players coach. This Coach is an macho idiot. What are you going to get for Tony DeAngelo anyway. A bag of pucks?? You ruined his value by not handling him correctly. His off ice behavior on social media is his business. We have the 1St Amendment and the right to free speech. To make that an issue is stupid. Of course we have Mr. Genius reporter Larry Brooks who seeks problems and loves to stir trouble in his writing articles. Brooks loves stirring controversy. I hope Kakko recovers and this is not a ploy by Quinn to get rid of our young Franchise Superstar player #2 Overall in 2019 draft who has a lot of swagger and is extremely talented and deserves tons of ice time. Again look at the Powerplay unit 1. Same line- Buchnevich, Mika, Panarin, Kreider, same line. Produces only 1 goal tonight. Need to take Buchnevich off line 1 of Power play 1 and insert Lafreniere or Kakko. They are our future Franchise Superstars. Move Mika on power play unit 2 or Krieder. This line has done crap except blast the puck foolishly and miss. There needs to be more creativity out there. It’s enough already. Quinn does not know how to use his young talent and he was brought here to coach young talent. JD has to step up and fire Quinn. Quinn is also responsible for creating the culture in the locker room. He is not good for this teams future. He only wants those same veterans to make himself look great. Mika has got to get it going. By the way, his long hair makes him look like a girl or is he a hockey player or rock star. Cut your hair Mika. It might help. I can’t stand Jeff Gorton.Terrible GM. Give the GM job to Chris Drury.
