What are Stellantis smoking? Why would anyone buy this ICE platform supermini when you could have an MG4, BYD Dolphin or even a model 3 for not much more
I personally find Vauxhall boring and bland and much prefer Peugeot with its striking design and i-Cockpit design. I wouldn't mind if Stellantis kills Vauxhall
£38,500! They are taking the mickey! If you want a roomier, better equipped and let's face it more exciting car, just go for an MG4 XPower! For just £36,495 you get a fully equipped supercar! It has 360+ litres of boot space up to the boot cover and lots of tech, heated seats etc. But best of all it has 4 wheel drive and around 440 bhp with 600 Nm of torque with a 0-60 achieved in a quite reasonable 3.7 seconds. For around £12,000 less than the Corsa, you could get a larger MG4 base model, with more equipment. Of course no 4 wheel drive madness but a more comparative machine.
Never have I been more entertained by a woman failing to count to 6. But Nicola's also right at the end there. Wait 2 years, get an ultimate for half price.
Less than that, previous gen ones £14k now so I’d expect max £16k for a 2 years old. It’s a bit of a game for manufacturers - these list prices might catch. A few customers but the vast majority will be fleet cars and they will be getting huge discounts, hence the ex-lease bargains.
China is throwing steel at the world but its quality is not currently up to agreed grading. Indian steel is more expensive but its resistance to corrosion is better; and ability to withstand pre & post manufacture product stresses and pressure is also greater. BYD and SAIC Motors both understandably use Chinese made steel. Stellantis uses Indian or American made steels. If you’re only going to keep a vehicle for the 2-5yrs. from date of initial manufacture. I doubt it matters where the its steel came from but if you intend to keep it for longer or are buying secondhand or ex-lease, (typically 2-3yrs. old). You may want to consider who made the steel. And if you’re buying outright to sell-on in say 5yrs., you may want the highest residual value. So again, where the steel came from may be important. But Stellantis are having a laugh with pricing like this. I’m not saying cars are cheap, they’re not. But there’s many who perceive German cars to be the best and a great many who believe the same of Tesla. Stellantis needs to be realistic about the markets it’s selling into.
A lot of comments regarding the price...makes me think. Must be a marketing strategy, same as with mobile phones and other top end tech. If you want the latest model it will cost you twice as much than if you wait a year or 2. Rarely a difference in useability, this kind of improvements happens aprox every third year. The size of the investment they would have to put into production to match the anticipated demand of this car at, lets say 25K, would make it unfeasible. Much better to spread it out through a 5 year lifespan. Bottom line: Tesla 3 ==> £43K (plus £200 for delivery to your front door).
as someoen who picked up a 2020 corsa electric for £15k a few months back, this is a nice update but jesus christ that price increase is insane, nice to see 11kW AC as standard though
@@sargfowler9603 i think much like this one, it was priced too high at launch, and had much more enticing competitors with better deals at launch. they're super solid cars but few gaveit a chance because vuaxhall fucked the pricing
I just about justified to myself paying £29k for my top spec e-208 back in 2020. Attempting to charge £38k for a top spec Corsa is laughable. I think the market forces will readjust that.
Wouldn't touch it with a bargepole. I bought a Corsa-E last year on the pre Ukraine war pricing which was, tbh, a steal. Lovely car....that melted it's entire charging system in that week of 40 degree heat in the summer. After 8 weeks off the road waiting on parts while I drove around in an old ford focus as the only car they could give me, I wanted shot and sold it for more than I paid (before prices crashed). Went Mazda hybrid. I'd love an EV but couldn't afford it then and certainly can't afford prices as ludicrous as this. The Chinese will sweep in and steal everyone's business with ease with prices and questionable build quality like this. Poor show from Stellantis.
Great review as always shocked with the price. I can understand why Audi, BMW and Mercedes outsell Ford and Vauxhall, Peugeot and everyone who used to be volume but now become premium. So pleased I went for my BMW 118 M sport offering great value and top quality. I really can’t see some of these companies surviving. The prices are insane and the dealers need to be premium too.
The MG4 is a stand alone product, designed from the ground as a BEV. STELLANTIS products are modified versions of existing and big selling vehicles, so where are the savings from "economy of scale" ?
This is a great point - if we get the deluge of Chinese EVs that have been promised for years it's going to wipe out manufacturers taking the piss with pricing like this
I like the look of the Corsa, but at that price? No thanks, I don't want the spec, I don't need all the tech stuff which will go wrong in a few years, that's going to depreciate, my £25000 house I bought years ago, it's not going down in value, not that I bought it to sell, my present car, a diesel costs £17-23 a week, it's bought and paid for, I could actually afford to buy it outright, it was 5 months old at the time and I had change from £8000, I've done nearly 160000 miles just getting back and forth to work, as I don't have access to off road parking, charging will treble my costs, that's if I could afford to buy the car in the first place!!!, it's too expensive with too much to go wrong
So, a few things to add here: 1.) Stellantis moronically raised the prices on the Corsa and Mokka about 7 months ago and subsequently lined the new electric Astra up accordingly. So a top specc Corsa lands just under the price of a base Model 3 now - while the top specc Astra is in the territory of a Model 3 Long Range. The Mokka is somewhere in between. 2.) The new "gear selector" was actually introduced into the Corsa before the release of the new version. A neighbor of mine has the "old" version of the E-Corsa and has that very same selector in it. The electric Corsa, Mokka and Astra are good cars, reliable, comfortable and well suited for your daily routines. But ever since Stellantis made them way more expensive (and they weren´t exactly cheap to begin with) I can not in good concience recommend those cars. They are just too expensive for what they bring to the table. Their batteries are 50 - 54 kw. The good efficiency on the Astra was made real by reducing the power of the 156hp engine, effectively making the Astra and the new Corsa slower to accelerate than the previous Corsa despite the fact the previous Corsa had the 136hp engine. Said efficiency however goes out the window once you go over 110 kmh. They all fast charge to a MAXIMUM speed of 100kwh. As far as I know there´s no charge management, meaning you can´t define, say, 80% soc as your charge goal. Last I checked you can only set a delayed starting time for charging - pretty much useless unless you use your own wallbox (if you have one). Navigation does not include charging stops at all, the map merely shows you locations of chargers. Thats it. No frunk, to extra space under the trunk or at least none worth mentioning. But the biggest offense is the app for your phone. The only function that works reliably is showing you your soc. And even that takes remarkably long at times to display. All other functions sometimes don´t work or don´t work properly, including: - You can activate the a/c system through the app. I tried this twice while the car was charging - it stopped charging the moment the a/c turned on. Useless. - The app shows you the position of your car. However this doesn´t always update - I saw numerous occasions where the car was shown to be in a spot it previously was. For example, when it was parked in front of my home but the app showed is as being parked near my workplace, 26 kilometers away. - The app records your journeys by taking the info from the car when you shut the car down and exit. Problem: it doesn´t always do that. More often than not I saw a solid third of a months trips missing from the records, so I stopped bothering with this "feature" as well. - You can pre-plan a trip via the app (set a route) which then will be transferred to the cars navigation when you power up the car. While this usually works it can take a few moments, up to several minutes, for the car to receive the route. And you can only do basic planning, e.g. go from point a to point b. By the time the car receives the route you might just as well enter it manually onboard. - There are a few other minor things that are not worth mentioning. This app is, plain and simple, a massive insult. A buddy of mine who is into programming could probably do this better in a month with one of his hands tied to his back. Sounds all pretty bad, right? Well, I maintain one thing: the cars themselves are, as the fine lady in this video said: fine. Fine cars, by themselves worth owning and comfortable to drive. But with all those tradeoffs you got on them they are just WAAAAAAAAAY OVERPRICED. And this price hike came shortly AFTER Tesla had lowered their prices. So, as our dear host said: if you really, really want a Opel / Vauxhall electric car you´re in good hands - you just have to pay a damn lot of money. Money that might as well be invested in cars that might not be as cozy but are definitely offering way more.
Ridiculous price, honestly. You can get an Aiways U5 for a few hundreds less, which is like twice as big and can tow 1500kg. Also MG4 extended range here costs around 35k with much more range, better DC charging, more power and can tow 500kg. Im not pro chinese cars at all, but you cant ignore them, when european manufacturers are trying to sell mediocre EVs for such a high price. Could mention Tesla Model 3, but for most people, the insurance kills it.
The used car market will decide whether the price is justified just look where ZOE prices are for a 2022 model. Wouldn't put my money out for any £30k EV the tech is getting there but not the capital costs.

Add an extra 4K to the price of this and buy the new tesla model three, has far more space, far better range and far more storage. What is stellantis thinking here?!
I would never pay any sort of 'Premium' price for an Opel/Vauxhall to start with. As for this version...it's just more cynical EV pricing by the manufacturers. It has to be remembered, there are NO cheap EV's yet, just 'cheaper' ones. They are still all over priced, no matter how good some of them may undeniably be. A long way to go still before the decision by the majority of folk to buy an EV is not because of bullying policies by governments - such as increasing the costs of running an ICE car - but because the decision makes financial sense as well as an ethical one. That's a shame because the switch from ICE to an alternative, whatever that eventually settles down to be, needs to be made by the majority.

Wait two years and buy cheap when one of these comes off lease.
Yep they are going for £14k currently!
Seriously 38000 pounds for that corsa 😂😂😂, sorry I would rather have my kia niro ev k4 !!
Absolutely. Nice car not for Tesla Money. The Chinese are going to lap this car up and buy an MG or B.Y.D and so are we.😂
What are Stellantis smoking?
Frankly, if you're thinking of one of these, go and look at the Volvo EX30...or several other better deals!
Volvo is going to sell a TON of EX30 if Stellantis think they can charge nearly 40k for a Corsa😅😂
A few customers but the vast majority will be fleet cars and they will be getting huge discounts, hence the ex-lease bargains.
why would anyone buy this over a volvo ex30 is beyond me, unless you get a good finance deal.
Did a mole from MG slip into the company and arrange the pricing? Or is it priced to be discounted? The fleet sector? Does not compute?
Add £1500 and buy a new Tesla Model 3 with 318 miles WLTP range. Erm…
Overpriced. Underspecced. Why would I want one? Not answered. Knock 10 grand off the asking price and I might give it a look.
EV’s don’t have Brake Horse Power they have Horse Power it’s a lot different try to learn.
as someoen who picked up a 2020 corsa electric for £15k a few months back, this is a nice update but jesus christ that price increase is insane, nice to see 11kW AC as standard though
Do you have 11kW AC charging at home? I thought 7kW was the limit for single phase AC
@@bluemountain4181 I personally have 7kW at home, but a lot of the public AC chargers near me are 11 or even 22kW
@@bluemountain4181You can get 11kw home chargers. Around £1000
Yea, just checked and there's loads of 2020 and 2021 Corsa-E available for around £15K. That's some depreciation!
@@sargfowler9603 i think much like this one, it was priced too high at launch, and had much more enticing competitors with better deals at launch. they're super solid cars but few gaveit a chance because vuaxhall fucked the pricing
The price is obscene. We have an OG 2020 Corsa-e. Would we do the same again given the current market? No. We would get a Volvo EX30.
The price is a complete joke, and then they will turn around and claim that they are not seeing demand for EVs 🤔
Silly money!! I mean who the fook can afford that??
They’ve got to be smoking something at Vauxhall, £32k for something the Chinese sell similar but with better tech for a fraction of that price….nope
Sorry Electrifying but I wont even be watching video. That's just dumb money and it could have gold plated controls, I am not interested
The MG4 is a stand alone product, designed from the ground as a BEV. STELLANTIS products are modified versions of existing and big selling vehicles, so where are the savings from "economy of scale" ?
This is a great point - if we get the deluge of Chinese EVs that have been promised for years it's going to wipe out manufacturers taking the piss with pricing like this
The MG4 is not as well made.
@@stevenjones916especially in this size, the bespoke EVs have no benefit over the ICE ones.
So, a few things to add here:
1.) Stellantis moronically raised the prices on the Corsa and Mokka about 7 months ago and subsequently lined the new electric Astra up accordingly.
All other functions sometimes don´t work or don´t work properly, including:
- You can activate the a/c system through the app.
Most boring EV there is
MG Dealers must be quaking in their boots.
😅 bonkers. You will be able to count on one hand how many of those they will sell at full price. It's not eve n a proper EV
I'm profoundly inspired by your video! - "Challenges are stepping stones on your path to greatness.."
Also, no one EVER pays the list price for Opel or Vauxhall. 20pc discount AT LEAST is always given from showrooms.... or the usual internet platforms
The used car market will decide whether the price is justified just look where ZOE prices are for a 2022 model.
Wouldn't put my money out for any £30k EV the tech is getting there but not the capital costs.
"you can't expect everything from a car that costs £38,500" 😅. Seriously Vauxhall did you use platinum instead of copper for the wiring?
Honestly . The thing is .
Stellantis is late to the game ice platforms , overpriced cars .
Against a fierce competition, my friends just look at the smart one and the Volvo ex30 .
The corsa is dead .
Stellantis what the fuck are you doing .
Cut your losses and make a new plataform
The original battery was 50kwh gross and 45kwh useable so 6kwh difference from the new one.
Boring colour outside, boring colour and trim inside covering a Ok car with the headline that shouts “Overpriced”. Stellantis are clearly trying to wipe the Vauxhall name from the history books but what will really happen is the public that just want a small economic car to buy we just turn to the east.
When Opel (or Peugeot to be fair) does a proper EV they will for some reason lose that no frills, nice looking interior for some wild fad and a screen.
I have never had a Vauxhall as to me they are either bland or repmobiles. As for £35000 for this thing, they must be having a laugh. No Vauxhall is worth that
Who are paying this kind of money for such mediocre crap. Seriously the world has gone mad.
Cheap as hell on leasing here in Germany. 150 EUR a month. And in the UK? No point buying. Lease.
Add an extra 4K to the price of this and buy the new tesla model three, has far more space, far better range and far more storage. What is stellantis thinking here?!
Even if you get a Tesla 3 for £3k more, the price of insurance between both is what gets you
It's a shame that this car is too expensive. Out of my list.
Tbh most people are unlikely to buy a corsa to fit a family of 5 in, your by an Astra or something similar instead.
The glovebox is deeper than expected. Then remembering that it's a lefthand-drive car lol.
I have a corsa C and love it the New model is great but the e is very expensive well thats tecnology
Corser you could always go for something cheaper and better 🤪😂😂
It’s all stellantis’s fault, GM would have never let this happen!!
Great review 👍🏼 nice car , insanely silly price!
It's perfectly fine... It's perfectly fine.... It's fine.... It's perfectly fine...
Grey, good colour for a boring, overpriced EV.
32k for a Vauxhall Corsa is as bad as 42k for a Peugeot 308
It'll only be worth half the value in a year.
Bland Bland Bland Dull as dishwater
Not mega exciting As you said It's fine it's a Corsa but its not 32k fine New Price Used it'll be 15k
So more expensive than an MG4 X-power!! Right...😂 👎
Or about £12,000 more than a basic MG4...!!! Clearly Stellantis are taking the P... with their new Vauxhall prices..!!
