  • In this video, I show what is involved with the installation of the Aluminium Pannier case bracket install. The actual install starts at 6:28 , after the box contents are gone through.

    Thanks for the video. The only thing I would add in the installation process would be Blue Loctite on the mounting hardware. 👍🏻

    I have just installed my pannier brackets using your video in the garage. Absolutely brilliant. Also the information on placing the actual panniers on was also extremely useful. Thanks again.

    Nice explanation. Quest.
    Does a full helmet fit in the boxes? Tkx.
    And, is there more than one size box set available?

    • @SkyhookStudios

      Full face helmets fit. Arai Quest, Corsair X, and XD4 all fit. Not much room for other stuff. Honda hard aluminum box only comes in one size but they make a plastic box. Not sure it's size.

    Thank you for making this video.
    Really helpful.
    My instal kit had the cap screw for rubber bumper missing. I installed without the screw, hopefully the frame would hold it down as it's pretty snug.
    Again very good job.Thanks

      I would suggest getting at least the back rest pad for the top box. In my opinion, the African twin's seats are not all that comfortable for anything more the. 3-4 hours of total riding. Both the wife and I are standing on the pegs regularly on longer trips. The paniers are not an issue the seat is.

    Best install videos on the net! Well done and thank you! Please can you help answer a question. I want to wire in spots using Honda’s function switch but I want to look at more powerful lights. Is there any way you can test the amperage to see what lights I could get away with installing? If you know how to find this out I’d really appreciate it!

      Ok so since you are north America, you don't have the function available for the factory aux lights. Honda removed the option from the computer and also removed the power feed wire from said computer. The plug is still out on the fairing but it is pointless since it will never work. I have a video that I'm putting up soon that will go into greater detail about this issue.

    • @mt-015

      Skyhook Studios wow that sad they took that option away! May have to wire in an “Amplink” as it seems to be the best alternative to controlling accessories with the least amount of complication. Check out amplink if you haven’t already. Thanks for the info!! I was looking at hopefully fitting some visionX light cannons 4” with multiple LED’s

    The Africa Twin is a tall-seated bike, even for tall riders. Do you recommend the 'Cowboy Mount' (left foot on left footpeg) when getting onto the bike, or do you think it can place too much stress and weight on the side stand?

    • @SkyhookStudios
      @SkyhookStudios  3 роки тому

      I get on the bike that way often. I'm sure it puts some undue stress on the side stand so I can't say that you "should" mount the bike that way.

    • @TomReinerDE
      @TomReinerDE 3 роки тому

      You can put the weight of the complete bike on the side stand. I am not afraid of mounting the bike that way - in fact, with the side cases attached it is my only way without breaking my leg. 😂. And I am a heavy guy. It is just scary at the beginning, as the motorcycle leans heavily towards you, so you really think it falls over. I just doesn‘t.

    I have bought a 2020 Honda Africa Twin (DCT, ABS, ES) ex-demo model for a good price.... but the Honda dealership told me Honda OEM panniers click/clip straight onto the body of the bike, so a bracket mount is *_NOT_* required. So, why is your bracket needed? Are you *_not_* using OEM Honda panniers? (They look like the real deal.)

    • @SkyhookStudios
      @SkyhookStudios  3 роки тому

      If your bike was a demo model, it might already have the brackets installed. If it doesn't, then you need them. The bike as it comes from Honda, does not come with the mounting brackets. So if you want to put the Givi model, Honda branded, hard panniers as you see in my videos, you need the brackets. They are separate items sold by Honda.

    • @thepanel2935
      @thepanel2935 3 роки тому

      @@SkyhookStudios thanks! Are there any panniers at all that don't need a bracket? Are there indeed some panniers that click straight onto the frame without the need for any hardware, like I was told?

    • @SkyhookStudios
      @SkyhookStudios  3 роки тому

      Soft bags would likely be the only option that would not require some sort of mounting hardware.

    As far as I know this Honda OEM system resembles the Givi Trekker Outback system. Do you know if the Givi S250 Toolbox (with the extra mounting kit) fits this Honda version of the racks?

    • @SkyhookStudios
      @SkyhookStudios  3 роки тому

      By looking at the pictures, it seems you might need the Givi fit kit to install it on these racks. If I'm not mistaken, the OEM system is a Givi system with Honda badging. So I don't see why it wouldn't work.

    • @TomReinerDE
      @TomReinerDE 3 роки тому +1

      @@SkyhookStudios Should anybody read this: It does NOT work, unfortunately. The OEM rack has different lower mounting points without screws - and these screws are necessary to fix the mounting kit for the S250. 😕
