Well done to the Philippine Army from Australia.
Compared to many pinoy vlogs related to our military, your channel is the most informative, more specific, correct videos being shown as to the subject being discussed, correct technical specifications n clear explanations why its being selected or canceled or delayed. Good work coz you really did your research not just making videos just for the heck of it or for financial reasons. Keep it up n Im excited to see more of your upcoming videos in support of our Armed Forces. I dream that we will have a very strong military so that nobody will look down on us anymore n violate our country’s sovereignty!
I like the fact that they prioritize the army first.
It's the most essential of all the branches imo.
After 40 years Philippines now has tanks in it's infantry mechanized division
@ade rahmat they have a few APC mounted with heavy gun systems but very few
@ade rahmat Not all of the time. They also use M113 or -A2 variants with either .50 cal M2 Browning or 20mm guns on the turret or open hatch or a turret with a 76mm short-barreled gun transplanted from FV101 Scorpions. On rare occasions, some PH Army units use the remaining 7 Scorpions in service, usually on the province. That's all I know, though
@@dd-579fletcherwillyd.9 do we have scorpions?
If the Bradley starts getting obsolete I hope we could get at least 5
@@papaskydragon_mischief as far as I can remember, yes we have. Around 41 were acquired in the 1970s. As of now, 7 are being used, 18 were upgraded (and I guess are still in service, not counting the 7) and 14 tanks had their turrets transplanted to M113s. The other 2 are in display if I'm right

@@PrimeCheck the Oto-Melara 105 mm cannon with autoloader is a strong weapon. You can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it is the cannon used by vehicles such as the Italian Centauro and the South African Rooikat 105 mm wheeled tank destroyers, or AFV's, as they are often known. Both 8x8 wheeled AFV's and tracked light tanks make sense here in the Philippines. My wife and I live in Cagayan de Oro, in Northern Mindanao a couple of hours northeast of Marawi City, and since retiring and moving from Australia to live here with her, I've developed an interest in military vehicles. Given the tensions both within the Philippines and nearby, it makes sense for the forces here to modernize their vehicles.

one word can answer this video and its a Belgium turret thats why we dont buy hanwa and pindad and we use elbit system in our apc since years
You mean 'zionist' system?
Trust me, desert machines wouldn't fit jungle and tropical combat in Southeast Asia. I think Pindad-Aselsan Medium Tank is better
@@mhazg6621 Well, if you do want MBTs for the Philippines, the most effective one here is pretty much the Leopard 2A4/5. Effective for urban warfare and maybe in some jungles WITH proper roads, its also effective because of its short 120mm L/44 Gun.
MhazG the reasons we prefer the elbit systems is Belgium cant supply the necessary turret for that tank bcos of some problem regarding their Govt about the human rights issue in PH they imposed embargo to all defense materials including the .50 cal HMG for the Tucanos we brought from Brazil
@@maximocristobalvaldespino5408 That is on the Pandur 2. The HITFACT Turret on the ASCOD 2 lost to the Elbit Systems because of the lack of an autoloader. You probrably know that...

you forgot to mention the fact that it follows the IDF merkava's pattern where the engine is placed at the front giving a higher chance of survivability to the crew, the ability to mount add on armors such as ERAs or even simple caged armor is remain to be seen but it would be a nice feature. imagine what hybrid of a tank it will be seeing its merkava's little brother wearing russian Kontakt 5 ERA lol

That is one Beautiful Tank.
Great to see our army improving its armoured divisions! Will they be useful in deterring China's improving amphibious divisions? Will they be spread out across all regions and possible landing sites?
Better we support those with Anti Ship Missles. Make landing a pain for China.
I Love your videos😘
Thank you
This is a great addition to following max defence, if you follow them you should follow this to.
what protection system can be attached to ASCOD? is it compatible with existing passive and active defense systems? can it also be equipped with ERA?
it's a good system indeed
Didn't the sabrah was also one of the choices. I was rooting for the K21 because of its amphibious capabilities.
K21 have less better armor which its not effective in battle
Counter-insurgency battles in PH are usually in the mountains and jungles. There's not much need for an amphibious tank, because hostiles on the water will only use boats.
done! subscribed already... keep it up sir! 👍
Thanks for subbing! 😊
Nice video 👍 I'm impressed 👌
as a filipino, I would've wanted the "leopard series", but still an upgrade is still an upgrade
I won't complain
I feel like a lighter vehicle would be much better for the terrain of the Philippines. Similar to what Indonesia wanted in their tanks.
The leopard series from Germany? Like the Leopard 2A6? or another tank that I dont know about?
@@yayeetmeoffacliff4708 yes tanks from germany, i personally want a
leopard 2a7
@@SymmbolZS That probably would be too expensive but very effective if used on the right terrain. Maybe it would be good for the PH army in city warfare?
@@yayeetmeoffacliff4708 the leopard 2A7 is very effective at most terrain, like mud.
the tank's is so air tight the entire hull can be submerged in muddy water and still function as if nothing happend.
Medium tanks really fits on tropical country like the Philippines, with frequent rain, MBTs can't survive on muds while medium tanks can manage. Philippine bridges can't handle MBT's while medium tanks can pass bridges with ease. Any Marawi siege type in the future will be easy if these units will arrive.
This ain't a medium tank, this is a light tank. Only reason why Philippines didn't buy an MBT, because they are goddamn expensive. Another thing about you saying "mbts can't handle mud" is bs. MBTs are designed to tackle rough terrain because it's an MBT.
@@Electro3Strike sabrah or ascod are considered medium tank...
If we acquired MBT philippines must upgrade the quality of bridge first..
@@skyisthelimit6958 First of all, i never said anything about MBTs and bridges. Second of all, they are considered Light Tanks, you can search it up if you want.

I wish we had the Swedish CV90120 with a 120-mm gun, China would rethink taking on the Philippines.
Very good start for our ground forces. hopefully, we will achieve numerical advantage with these types of machines.
Nice! Can you do a feature on the current assets of the Army and Air Force?
The only reason i can think that why Philippines is buying a light tank to do MBT role is because its small enough to put it in a mall :)
Hahaha Agree.. It's like the Filipino's favorite curse word - "Tank in a mall..!" Lol
Theres alot of reasons why Medium and light tanks
1 the Philippines is a archipelago where big vehicles would have a logistical problem with sabrah its better for transportation
2 it can withstand most bridges
3 its perfect for the jungle environment if it was a abrams it get stuck in the mud

The “Medium” in Main Battle Tank is quite unnecessary and inaccurate, considering tank classifications are a thing of the past. MBT’s are supposed to be as fast as a light tank, as armored as a heavy tank, and as versatile as a medium tank. Therefore, an MBT would be even more versatile than a medium tank.
Yeah, I can understand when people say "light" mbt or "heavy" mbt becouse sometimes countries might favour speed and lightness over armor for example but a "medium" mbt is just an mbt
In my own understanding the light, medium and heavy in modern is a weight classification while the MBT is a role for a vehicle like for example TAM 2 tank of Argentina it's a medium tank but it was used as an MBT.
@@Fish-kz8xw It depends on the country and maybe the time. Some it is by weight, other is by intended purpose, some also consider multiple factors such as weapon size.
You can correct Wikipediot or the company for calling it MMBT.

Israel's offer is good and excited to see it being realized, but I wouldn't mind too if we opted for Indonesia's offer. After all, we enjoy good relations with Indonesia, and share similar geography and terrain, a close cooperation with our southern neighbor is a plus.
I hope the Philippines seeks to include technology transfers in their dealings in the future.
Indonesia is shit, tank with truck engine, sorry but it is a frankenstein tank
