I interviewed Troop on my radio show when this album came out. "Set Me Free" was added to our playlist and is my favorite song. The whole album is good though.
It's a crime that Atlantic Records didn't promote this album. I thought track to track this was their best album and when you listen to it for an R&B group in 1992 the production was top notch and it had a theme.
Agreed. Deepa was Troop's best album. It's unfortunate that Atlantic didn't promote Deepa. Troop is my favorite music group of all time since they're my favorite R&B group and R&B is my favorite music genre, and because I'm only 15, I couldn't get to listen to the original Deepa, therefore I couldn't own songs like Whatever It Takes and Hot Water unless I paid a ridiculous $200 on Amazon to get a CD copy of the album cuz it's not available on iTunes
Thats because of a comment made about Cynthia Rhone by Steve... she punished the whole group and had them blackballed and the album did not get promoted. On a happier note, the fellas are back. Jon Jon is one of my best friends, and I will sed him in a few days 😊
@@WarriorWeek87 😉 , I wrote CYNTHIA huh ??? Just saw Jon Jon @ church. I have been managing TROOP for a few months now.. Not easy keeping all OG members together. Lot of politics within the group.
This was a very good album!! I remember buying this album in 92. They had some bomb ass slow joints on it too. Just nice songs overall. Sweet November was my cut.
Steve copied Michael Jackson hecka hard on the ad lib on the end of the song. It was dope though. The heavy MJ influence is a large reason why I'm a big fan
Both Steve AND Allen *seemed* to sound like Mike at times... and I say more power to them! But if anything, it was not "copying" him, it was their own natural talent, and what they were feeling as they were laying down their vocals. It was *all* them, Allen and Steve; they just happened to convey the same soul that Mike brought to *his* music. In each case, it is individual to each man, and very beautiful.

This was a brilliant album. This track is one of those that stands out. Pure 90s vibe.
One of my favorites! This is one of my favorite albums. Hubby and I take a road trip and blast it!
I actually got to talk to Steve Russell about this song last year. Especially the Chuckii Booker Moog baseline!!! 🔥🔥🔥

+Alex Da Boss $200? That's outrageous bro! I would only pay that if I was in the studio when it was recorded.

Troop 4 Life ❤❤❤❤
Highest point of the new jack swing era. It can't be better.
Please include Levert!!!!!
Lo-key, Rude Boys as well!
I swear, NJS was the TRUE eargasm of the 90's! Especially early 90's that is.
That's diffently agreeable. However, Keith Sweat took it to another level with the Give You All My Love and Commandments album!

I think this is the best cut of the DEEPA album
I can hear The Jackson's "Show you the way " all over this track.
From 3:46 to 3:59 you can definitely tell it was a tribute
