Create Next-Level BEATS with Drumlogue and MiniFreak - Here's How!

- It’s pretty cool what you can achieve with just one synth and a drum machine. It’s something that Leroy spends doing more than he’d like to admit, not only because he enjoys the process but also because it's a great way to start a track. In this video, Leroy combines a couple of his favourites, the Korg Drumlogue and the Arturia MiniFreak which both feature unique sounds and some forward-thinking sequencing techniques.

This is a musical style I have zero interest in ever listening to, much less creating, but this is actually still a pretty good demo of how the two play together. Definitely making me rethink the drumlogue
What would you make with the drumlogue???
I really appreciate this guys Drumlogue videos!
Cheers Trevor
Epic!
First! Jeez, everytime I hear that MiniFreak it just has new surprises and sounds so good, seems intensely functional in so many contexts. I love it.
Yes its an awesome piece of synth
@@Noisegate picked up a used one for $500 in great shape.
It's crazy how useful and accessible this piece of equipment is for literally any genre.
It doubles as a midi keyboard for my MPC, and a lot of the functionality/effects/sound-shaping of the Minifreak is still optional, evn when I'm utilizing a voice from a plug-in on the MPC.
Moreover, I can sequence a progression and record that into the mpc while I simultaneously play a melody over top; which is awesome for efficiency and workflow.
@@cervantesthenilbog7513 did ya get it with the minifreak V aswel or did the orignal owner keep that ?
@@prendelalumbreofficial714 that was a portion of my trepidation buying used, actually.
If I could take a picture and show you, I would, but . .
The Minifreak comes with a registration card in its own plastic, which I had no issues with registering and gaining access to the Minifreak V plug-in (vst? Whatever it's called).
My recommendation, if purchasing used, is to make sure the seller includes this information and some sort of guarantee that they deregistered.
I wouldn't have necessarily known this beforehand, but somewhere -within the plethora of information I was digesting, I've come to discover that depending on the device/equipment/instrument . . . It isn't always as easy.
However, I bought a Roland Sp404 MKii and an MPC Live, essentially at the same time, and didn't have any issues with them either. I'm a cynical person, so I definitely expected to have problems. I'd have to assume that the sellers all were just decent enough dudes selling some gear.
So at the very least, research your ass off, and ask even the questions you think could be construed as dumb. One thing I always kept with me from grade school:
Don't ever be afraid to ask questions. Maybe not the best advise for someone who would grow to be such a contrarian like myself, but that's more me being a product of my irregular environment. I digress.
There should be a card that comes with it that has a QR code, serial number, and unlock code. Don't purchase it if it doesn't have it.
Side note: I've noticed some screen glitching and screen switching, but Idk if that is user error on my behalf. The buttons are sensitive, and a headphone cord brushing against one of em could change something while you're cooking up. I also believe that it was partly do to erroneously configuring the midi flow between devices. So again, and in conclusion, research your ass off.
@@cervantesthenilbog7513 thank
You so much for your time and helpful reply ! .. only reason I ask is because I also wanted to buy it used but everyone wanted to keep the V version and still sell the hardware for 550?:( so I figured buy new but go try it out somewhere and make sure I really love it (which I did end up loving a lot ) … I made sure to get a brand new one being that you can buy the “minifreak v “for 200$…… I figured I wouldn’t be able to find a minifreak hardware synth for 400 or less without the plug in. … and most
Definitely did a lot of research ..
this is so sick omg
Cheers
Sweet....thanks!
Would love to see a drum synth work out between Drumlogue and Syntakt.
We may take you up on that
if I connect the minifreak to my seqtrak, the minifreak will play for each step of the seqtrak. I only want it to clock the bpm not trigger anything.. advice for a newbie? :D
💫🌟💥!!! Totally Cool !!! 💥🌟💫
This might be a strange question but as someone who has never used a drum machine I was wondering if they allow you to adjust the microtiming of each trigger/sound?
I saw that there is a swing function, which I assume delays every second sound (correct me if am wrong!) And sample based machines would allow including a bit of pre delay through dead space delayed attack of the waveform. But do any of these machines allow ceeating sounds that fall slightly early and where the kick/snare/hats are purposely out of sync?
In all honesty you would probably be best just programming the steps to make that kind of delay you’re looking for. Placing snares a step earlier or a step later. Some machines have a swing option though I believe.
Lots of trolls and frustrated users in here, wow. I watched some videos and the same salty reactions occur. Even if I don't know if you're sponsorised or not, keep it going dude. I like your approach. Haters blabla hate.
Cheers Jejo
Is there a drum synth similar to the Drumlogue that might be more budget friendly...that I could pair up with my Minifreak? Just curious if you know of anything...thanks man.
THere is always the Korg Volca Drum
IM a total noob when it comes to synths and drum machines. Can you please tell me how to connect sync the synth to the drum machine.. Thanks for a great video..
It literally is Midi out of the Drum Machine as the master and Midi into the synth and a slave. There are heaps of videos out there with further explanation
Thanks for the reply, Just bought the the drumtbrut impact and the miniFreak, to get started with making some electronic music. And for sound out do I use the headphone out or something else. Thanks again.@@Noisegate
You will need a mixer to hear the Drum machine and Minifreak together@
Ok, I think I get it know. Thanks a lot.@@Noisegate
Any suggestions for a good mixer for small setup like mine?@@Noisegate
Eine schreckliche "Musik". .. wenn man keine andern Sounds aus dem Minifreak herausholen kann, sollte man es wirklich lassen!
nice job gatekeeping music ya wet sack of b-grade soil
