Thank you for the 7 great tips to get extra distance. I will follow your advice but I do not think I will gain your 100 yards. I loved the image of Jo being chased by your flicking towel. I bet she got her own back with 100 % interest. Joking apart , the video was really helpful & amusing.
Excellent presentation Julian and Joe! I like the way you advocate free and easy set up and movement through the golf ball utilizing what the golf club was originally designed to do. Since becoming a subscriber to your channel, I have drastically transformed the way I play golf. I have relaxed my grip pressure, loosened up my wrists and forearms and starting to let the club do its job, not me overly controlling it. My primary focus now is to get a correct set up, since I do at time let the hands get away from my body too much. Also, to get more distance via a correct weight transfer and body rotation properly utilizing the hips and arm speed in doing so. Thanks for all of your help Julian and Joe. I really appreciate your contribution! Keep up the good work!!
Another top shelf video for you and Jo, I wish I would have seen this before I went out golfing with my brother it may have helped me even further. However my golf day on the 19th was a success with just watching and practicing your videos. first 9 holes raining and not too pleasant and I was a bit tense so a lot of mistakes. Almost double bogey golf on the front but the back 9 the rain stopped and the sun came out and I was not tense anymore, muscles relaxed, your videos in my head and shot a 44 ending with a birdy on a par 5. After not playing golf for 9 years and lower bulging discs (lots of lower back pain) I played almost totally pain free. So at 62 I am convinced you are by far the best and most spot on coach/trainer of the world. Thank you for all you and Jo do in these videos!
That’s very kind Robb, so pleased the videos are helping. Not easy playing in the rain with extra clothing on. Great finish to the round well done you, keep up the good work and pleased that you are back playing again 👍😀😀
An excellent video Julian. The swing broken down in parts. I guess I will try one part at a time. Stop too many thoughts invading my mind. A video I will refer back to often Many thanks
Thanks Julian & Jo I did comment before how you improved my golf I am pretty old and even I watch other golf pros I have no doubt you’re videos are best for me I always had an easy swing what help me most was the way you explained setup also your short game a big improvement Thanks again Julian & Jo Tony
We were discussing this today as one of my group who is in single figures hits his driver the same distance as his 5 and 3 wood. This doesn't make sense. He uses such ferocity but where is the benefit that should be seen using a driver. I think the answer lies in this video. Thanks Julian for this one.
I don’t have a problem with a closed stance as it helps you hit the inside of the ball easier. Just remember not to stop your body turn and weight transfer through impact too quickly 👍
Thanks Julian and Joe. I'm a retired 77 yo who discovered "Easiest Swing" with Brian Sparks and found one of your videos on his channel. Love your approach and have subscribed. Do you also recommend the "Swing Caddy / Hole in One" as a training tool?
Just try making a whooshing sound with a stick, you’ll feel your wrists arms and body moving in harmony. Then it’s just a matter of gradually increasing the speed. 😀👍
Thank you. If you get a stick or an old shaft and swing it with one hand you’ll experience the swoosh, then it’s just a matter of replicating it with the club in hand
Just turn the driver upside down and grip near the head.and work on creating that woosh around the lead toe area as that's where the club has to be at it's fastest. Using the driver means you can do it before a round or even before you swing as a warmup to get the correct action.👍
I liked the video, but you did not explain the last step to get the extra speed. What did you do to get the last bit of extra speed? That is what I am looking for. I saw you pop the towel and swing the alignment rod, I might have missed it, but I did not see you explain how you got the extra speed. Thanks.
Hi Frank, thanks for your comment, it’s the feel of striking the bag with the alignment rod at speed that give you the extra bit of Whoosh at impact, just like flicking the towel. Difficult to describe as it’s a feeling and one you have to experience by doing not thinking. Try it and let me know if you get the feeling of extra speed, Frank
@@JulianMellor Julian, I have gone to the range a couple of times since I asked my question. I have tried using half swings to get the snap at the bottom and then moved to full swings on a number of different clubs. I think that I was able to more club head speed, but I didn't have anything to measure it with except the ball flight. I think that the snap at the bottom comes from the right wrist and forearm finishing the swing at the bottom. I can't say that for certain, but I was able to get a large part of the full distance I was getting with the half swing while I was focusing on the right arm and turning through the shot. I'm not sure I am describing it well, but that was the feeling that I had and I did see some improvement. I think that the improvement will continue with more practice. Thanks.
Yeah but you a young man I d like to see u at when u is much older. Give me a clue: I ve been playing this game probably as long as u bin alive. Without telling u my age how far do u think I can hit a G B. No 2nd guessing. Plus a tall bloke has a wider and longer swing arc.
Just trying to make golfers think about the way they set up and use their bodies and arms. Sometimes it’s one change that can make a difference no matter what age we are 😀

Yea, great fun to make, even if you gain a bit of extra distance by following the steps it’s a good thing in my book 😀
Probably the most important video - thanks Julian 👍
Absolutely
Julian, that was a great stepped demonstration which confirms the old golfing adage “swing the force NOT force the swing. 👍
Never heard that said before but I really like it Roger 👍😀
Thanks!
You’re welcome 👍

The 8:29 mark- I would like to see a separate video of the wrist movement in the backswing and downswing… That is a concept I have never seen taught
This is explained clearly in the video library at propergolfing
Hi Julian Jo glad to see you back loving your content Paul 👍👍👍🏌️
Cheers Paul
An excellent video Julian. The swing broken down in parts.
I guess I will try one part at a time. Stop too many thoughts invading my mind.
A video I will refer back to often
Many thanks
Thanks Rod, that’s a good idea and remember which parts are working for you

Thanks for your kind message again Tony, pleased that the videos are helping you with your golf game. Keep up the good work.
Kindest regards, Julian

Thanks Rich, always appreciate your kind comments. Hope some of it helps you 😀👍
Super video Julian, i can only play golf with a super closed stance, can't hit it with a normal one,any answers

Great lesson and even a bit of glamour thrown in by Jo. Whats not to like 👍
Thank you 👍

Hi Michael, nice to hear from you. I do like the swing caddy, a bit longer than the hole in one trainer. Both are really good though. 😀👍
What about the orange whip.
Top notch Julian. What type of grip do you use, the position of the left and right hand? Curious as that last shot went very straight.
Thank you Rick, I like golfers to use a natural grip not a neutral grip, I wouldn’t say that it’s strong or weak tbh
@@JulianMellor What shaft and flex you have in the driver?
thank you for great videos, it seems to me me that you keep youre head longer in place then with the irons, is that correct.(turn after impact)
That’s true but I’m working on moving it the same as the irons, old habits die hard as they say
Any thoughts on “how” you are gaining that last bit of speed? Thanks, great video.
Just try making a whooshing sound with a stick, you’ll feel your wrists arms and body moving in harmony. Then it’s just a matter of gradually increasing the speed. 😀👍
Great video, thanks Julian! 👍🏻
Thank you, Dan much appreciated 🙏👍
excellent breakdown of a good swing, Julian. but how do you get that extra swoosh ?
Thank you. If you get a stick or an old shaft and swing it with one hand you’ll experience the swoosh, then it’s just a matter of replicating it with the club in hand

Sweet swing !!!
Thank you, Philip
on the downswing, do I need to bump across or just simply turn hips and shoulders thru?
There is a weight shift to your lead foot first Eddie

I was trying this yesterday on a simulator. The best drive I could muster was 165 yards. I am really befuddled as to how I can improve.
There must be a fundamental change that you need to make, Jeff
