Sounds quite Irish sounding
as an OVE speaker I'm happy to see this :DI must clarify, we DON'T say "care" for car, it's /kær/ with the same sound in "cat"
Thanks for the clarification. There was quite limited data on the accent, so it's awesome to get feedback from actual speakers 😃
It’s quite funny how I got to see this casual speak for myself a few weeks ago on a trip to Ottawa and now I can see the features of this dialect resumed in a neat short video 😂
That's so cool! The whole video is on TikTok if you want to check it out. Thanks for watching 😀
@@ThePolyglotFiles Of course! I'll go give it a watch 🤝
Is there a lot of Scottish influence?
yes
Definitely! The area was settled mostly by Irish and Scottish settlers.
Lived in the ottawa valley my whole life , this is not close 😂
Right? Born and raised here, I have never heard a single person who sounds like this
@@Ishkaga02 it’s like he’s over doing a hick lad accent x1000 to the point that it no longer sounds like a hick lad ottawa valley accent lol
Like, to-talyyy! 🤔🤙🏻
Sounds irish
You're bang on! The Ottawa Valley accent descended directly from Irish and Scottish settlers in the area. Thanks for watching 😀
