it was a good fold imo. with the ace on the turn i probably would’ve bet to try and represent either AK or AA to scare off a lower two pair, and your opponent might’ve slowed down and either called a value bet or min raised and you could’ve gotten a pretty cheap river with those draws. but for me calling all-in on the turn with an inside straight draw and a bit of a weak flush is too much of a gamble. definitely a judgment call but me personally i don’t like the odds of calling on that board.
you'd be calling 117k to win 395k. you're around 26% give or take. you're getting around 2.4:1 and need 30% equity minimum to profit long term. it's just outside of calling. however..... it is only a low event of SCOOP so you can just yolo call if you're playing for the win.
I just recently come off of 2nd place in a scoop event so I was definitely playing for a win. I wanted the badge. But I think the risk outweighed the reward here.
Thanks for commenting. I was slightly tilted to see I would've rivered the nuts but looking back at it in this moment, I also think it's a good fold. I'm getting good pot odds but don't even know if my flush draw is valid, my straight draw is a gutshot, and overall, I have 9 high. I can fold and still have plenty of chips to continue.
@@KINGBOSS1019 yep indeed. That bet size message was clear: "i have a good hand and will not allow you to get a cheap river to fulfill your draws. Call if you dare"
@@KINGBOSS1019 yeah in my opinion flop jam is good because we have plenty of equity even against a set - sometimes someone will have a better flush draw but it's still okay I think. a lot of times at least one of the players will fold and 25bb dead money is tons. but the main reason is just that this hand doesn't wanna go to the turn with this low stack-to-pot ratio and then fold.
You haven't provided all the information, you were 3rd largest stack when the hand started, why are you playing 89s, were you the open raiser was there a limp utg? Did you make a mistake and open limp? We're missing to much information.
I apologize for not having the prior action shown. If I remember correctly, UTG min raised and a few of us called. That's all I really remember. My vpip was high at this point.
