I don't think you guys realize how popular Critical Role is. This all started with a Kickstarter campaign to make a 22-minute animated short. The creators were hoping to raise $750k in 45 days. They got $1million in the first hour, and ended up with Amazon greenlighting two seasons.
They raised 11.3ish million by the end of the Kickstarter...they wanted $750k, raised 1 million the first hour, 3 million by the end of day 1 (achieving all of their stretch goals)...the reactions from the Critical Role cast/crew over the support they received were hilarious...
The voice cast in this show is LEGENDARY, thanks to the OG Critical Role members and their friends who, just so happens, are the best of the best in the world of V/O actors.

Aye bet. Don't sleep on this. Every episode is better than the last. Trust me. This covers an arc from the first campaign called the Briarwood Arc. No spoilers, but this shit hasn't even started to get wild yet.
It's easy to tell who knows nothing about this show going in -- when they call it "Vox Machine-ah". It's also very cool to see people coming into this cold and coming out digging it. They're doing a pretty good job of adapting D&D to story. Vex's sense is called Primeval Awareness in the game; it allows her to sense when her favored enemy is near. If Percy's gun didn't break so often, he'd be really OP. Keep going -- this show keeps getting better. You get to meet "No Mercy Percy" in the 3rd episode onwards.
The lead character designer for this show is Phil Bourassa, the same guy who did the character designs for Young Justice! Also Khary Payton (Aqualad) is the voice of Sovereign Uriel!

You guys know this is D&D right? The story is adapted from Critical Role's first campaign. Vax and Vex are indeed siblings. They're twins played by Liam O'Brian and Laura Bailey who share the same birthday.
As someone that has explained dnd to normies let help you guys out who might be confused. No real spoilers so don’t worry Vex and Vax are siblings (pretty obvious) - Vex is a Ranger. Rangers are good with a bow and navigating the wilderness. Also really sneaky. - Vax is a Rogue. Sneaky assassin, good with blades and lock picks. Really good at killing people sneakily and hiding. - Grog is a Goliath Barbarian. Barbarians Super strong and hard to kill. Gets stronger while mad. Goliaths are half giants. - Scanlan is a gnome bard. He’s a short dude that can use magic using music. However he pretty much needs to make music to cast spells but not all the time. - Keyleth is a Druid. She controls nature, pretty obvious. I don’t mean just plants, I mean Nature. It will be obvious in later episodes. - Pike is a Cleric. She gets her powers from worshiping a god and how powerful she is is tied to how strong her faith is. She has strong defensive powers and healing powers. Pike can also bolster allies. Magic in Dnd is pretty weird but their are types that this show seems to follows - Arcane Magic, magic gained from studying and practice (unless your like a sorcerer but let’s not get to complicated). Think of Doctor Strange. It’s pretty much just that. - Divine Magic, Magic gained from worshipping gods or powerful spirits. Typically used for healing and protection but it all depends on the god you get your powers from. - Nature Magic, Magic from nature. Druids and Rangers have access to this From what I know your only knowledge of fantasy is from anime, lord of the rings, and Harry Potter (I could be wrong just based on what I’ve seen).
Blue and Bronze Dragons breathe Lightning Plasma. White and Silver dragons breathe ice. Only Red, Gold and Brass Dragons breathe fire. Some other species breathe poison, or sleeping gas. Gem Dragons breathe pure telekinetic force. Also each species and subspecies breath weapon types are unique, (cone vs line, pure elemental chaos, or blended elemental chaos, etc.)
So Grog's voice actor is Roy Mustang from Fullmetal Alchemist. Scanlan's voice actor is Pheonix Wright and a whole bunch of other videogame voices. Vex's voice actress is LAURA BAILEY The Queen of VO, she played Kid Trunks, Shin Chan, she was Kait Diaz in Gears Of War and Abby in The Last Of Us 2 and a million other things. Pike's voice actress is Ellie from The Last Of Us, Gretchen in Recess and a bunch of other thingd. Vex's Voice actor is Gaara in Naruto, Asura in Asura's Wrath, and a whole lot of other things youd probably know Percy's voice actor is in like everything but youd know him as Flash in the injustice games.
Boy oh boy, been waiting for you guys to watch this one. For context: the show is based in Critical Role's first D&D campaign. Critical Role is a group of voice actors that play dungeons and dragons on their twitch channel. The characters in the show are voiced by the same voice actors that played them in the original campaign. All other characters in the show , like tavern keeper , the council members etc. were voiced in the campaign by the dungeon master Matt Mercer who is also a telented voice actor. In the show however you will hear Matt only as Sylas Briarwood (appearing at the finale of ep.2) , and a bunch of minor characters here and there.
I think you guys will have a blast with this, it is based off a dnd group of voice actors who started streaming it on twitch. Lots of hilarious content and with a very fleshed out world. Looking forward to the next one.

The guy that plays Grog is the voice actor for Thor. This is like The Witcher and Invincible combined. Was that a Monty Pytho reference when Grog said it was just a flesh wound? Because I think it was.
Oh man, you have just jumped head first down a really deep rabbit hole! Others have explained where this came from so I won't bother, the first two episodes are from before the show went to Twitch, the rest of the episodes will deal with the first major plot arc in the livestream campaign and gets really dark. :D I'm so happy for all the new Critters (our fandom name, Critical Role) enjoying this passion project.

Qick info on DnD Dragons, there are three types with numerous subspecies each -Chromatic Dragons (generaly evil) : Red, blue, white, black, green and purple/deep dragons -Metalic Dragons (generaly good): Gold, silver, bronze, copper and brass dragons -Gem Dragons (generaly neutral): Amethyst, emerald, sapphire, topaz and crystal dragons
In D&D each different evil dragon color, has different breath attacks and personalities..... Blue dragons are "lightening" powered... Super arrogant and intelligent...
Critters are REALLY dedicated to the show, I mean, we did smash their kickstarter goals in like, 11 hours and jumped the funding of the show up from One Episode to Two Seasons.
also y'all in for a treat. like others said this was based on a group's dnd campaign. a lot of their actions are unpredictable as dice rolls affected outcomes.

Vox Machina are very much the "pretends not to care, actually care a whole lot" types; sure they're a bunch of crass assholes, but when it comes down to it they ARE heroes (tbf so are the Mighty Nein, but they're more folksy heroes). I can't wait for later seasons, there are so many fantastic moments I can't wait to see adapted.

Vox Machina are very much the "pretends not to care, actually care a whole lot" types; sure they're a bunch of crass assholes, but when it comes down to it they ARE heroes (tbf so are the Mighty Nein, but they're more folksy heroes). I can't wait for later seasons, there are so many fantastic moments I can't wait to see adapted.
