- One of the things that we love about Viking is it is Adults Only. For us, Viking has become one of our favorite cruise lines - both river and ocean cruises. Here is what we like about Viking Ocean ships so see what you think:
• You must be 18 years old
• No Casino
• No smoking
• Top of the line food
• No constant announcements about art auctions or jewelry sales
• No charge for the specialty restaurants
• No nickel and diming you like other lines
• Premium Spirits beverage package a fraction of the cost $20 per day
• Free Beer and Wine during lunch and dinner
• Waiters know your name after the first day
• Only 930 passengers on the ship
• Free shore excursions
• All staterooms have their own balconies
• Free washer and dryers (soap included) on each floor
• Unlimited free WI-FI
• Spa is free to use
I know this laid back cruising is not for everyone. If you have children, this line will not be for you but someday it probably will be. If you don’t like the mega ships, this might be for you!

Thanks for the nice tour.. You did a great job introducing us to the ship and its features. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed the video and hopefully it was helpful to you. Viking really has some wonderful ships and we love traveling with them. Take care.
Nice job! We're looking forward to our 33-day "Grand Hawaii & French Polynesia" on the Viking Neptune in October/November.
WOW....33 days on her. I thought I was somebody when I went on their 22 day trip! What a great itinerary you are going to have. Thanks for watching and sharing!
Thank you for posting this excellent video! It perfectly captures not only the Star, but all of Viking's ocean ships, since they are all virtually identical. One thing you did not see in the video are 'crowds'. The ships are very spacious and with less than 1000 passengers, it never feels crowded on-board.
Could not agree more about the crowds. It is so nice walking around and not bumping into people all the time. The day after this cruise we boarded the Royal Caribbean Allure of the Sea which holds 6,000 people. What a change. We had a Royal credit that was going to expire so that is the reason we booked it. Never again....kids running around screaming, and people acting like idiots. Gotta love Viking!. Thanks for watching.
Nice job Pat
I am glad you liked it and appreciate you watching! Take care.
We enjoyed your tour very much. It made us eager to start our April Mediterranean tour on the Star.
That is just around the corner. You cannot go wrong with Viking as they are amazing. The Mediterranean is always fantastic!! Thanks for watching.
Thanks Pat! I had watched a couple other videos but they skipped over the food and music. Yours told me just what I needed! I can't wait to leave--9 days and counting!
The food is just off the chart great in my opinion and everyone else I have traveled with. Excellent relaxing music early in "The Living Room" and the same goes for after dinner upstairs. You will have a fantastic time, believe me!
Thank you Pat. Looking forward to traveling on the Star for Christmas
You cannot go wrong with Viking. Looking forward to our next one in the British Isles! Thanks for watching!!
Enjoyed this. Thank you. It helped to ease some of my pre-cruise anxiety.
Pre-cruise anxiety? You will have nothing but a great time with them and they take great care of everyone. Thanks for watching and commenting. Good luck!
I thoroughly enjoyed your video, Pat. It helps us in the lead-up to our 27-day Viking Homelands & Majestic Iceland cruise next year. Thank you.
I cannot say enough good about Viking. Their ships and personnel are amazing. In May we are doing the Viking Homelands and cannot wait. Will go early and travel to some countries doing a land tour on our own and train it up to Bergen. Thanks for watching!!
Wonderful and informative tour. We'll be on the Star for our first Viking Ocean cruise (transatlantic) in a few months. Gives us an idea of what's where.
We love doing Transatlantic crossings...so many small cool ports that you never go to on other cruises. Glad the video helped and hope you have a great time on it!!
Thanks for the tour. We loved the Viking Jupiter in August on their Homelands itinerary. The promenade is fantastic for walking some calories off and enjoying the views.
We are doing the Viking Homelands cruise in June and will also be on the Jupiter and looking forward to that one. We have really come to love Viking and we have a Penthouse Junior Suite this time which looks awesome. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thank you for doing the full tour of the Viking Star ship. I’m going with my sister on a Viking star cruise in July 2024.
You will love it, trust me on that. I was on it for two weeks from Montreal Canada down to Ft. Lauderdale and it was just great! Thanks for watching.
Hey Pat, love all your Viking Cruise videos. How tall are the workstations? About three feet?
Yes, about three foot. Normal height. Thanks for watching!
Great video. I will be on her around Iceland in August 2023. Should be great.
We are doing that itinerary next year in June and then doing the Artic on Viking. Looking forward to that one! Love Viking!
Thanks for the Video. We leave for our 1st Ocean cruise with Viking in 16 Days yeaaaaaa. We are in a DV room. Would you recommend a PV over the DV? Also what kind of camera system did you use.. Thanks again
I recommend the PV room. For close up work like this I use a GoPro Hero 8 HD...waterproof and has a great picture. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy !!
Good info. Thanks
Glad you liked it and hope it helped. Thanks for watching.
great video, thanks!!
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it. Appreciate the comment!
Did the Western Med on Viking Star four years ago, the Eastern Med on Viking Sky a year ago and will do transatlantic on Star Spring 2023. On the Sky, toward the end of the pandemic, there were only 310 passengers so the always good service was exceptional. Have cruised two other lines but will likely stick to Viking from now on.
We have cruise pretty much all the lines and now Viking is our favorite for a number of reasons - mostly no kids, no photo people chasing you around, the great food, etc. In May we are doing the Baltic area on them. My first cruise with Viking was on the Sea and we did the Amazon River which was amazing. On the Orion at the end of the pandemic we did Bermuda and yes, only 350 passengers on the ship and that was really strange. We did the first sailing to Antarctica on the Octantis which only holds 350 people but it is a much smaller expedition ship and that was really amazing. I have a video on that one also on my channel. Thanks for watching.
Great video Sir. Thank you.
Glad you liked it and thanks for watching. It is a great ship......
We are going on this ship in February 2025. I liked your informative video. Thanks
I am glad you enjoyed it and you will have a great time on them. Such great service that is beyond belief. Thanks for watching!
Great tour! We set sail on this ship in 2025!
They are a great line and there is no doubt you will have a great time. Thanks for watching!
Sore subject with some but...did you see the smoking area on deck 8? Can you describe the area and what it had for sitting, etc.? I enjoy cigars and hope this would be a good place to enjoy them during the cruise. Thank you.
Tim....I have to say, I did not notice the smoking area on Deck 8, but I will say, there is nice furniture up there and a good view to enjoy a nice cigar. I do partake in a occasional cigar but did not have any on this ship. I will pay closer attention on my next Viking cruise. Thanks for watching!
@@patsadventures6381 Thank you. Very good video. We'll be on this ship in May of 2025; Mediterranean Odyssey.
In the Theater,is there a live band with horn section?
They had a full live band with horns during some of the shows. Thanks for watching!
Cruised the Caribbean on Star through the Panama Canal last December and circumnavigating Iceland on Mars in July 2024.
Sounds like you love cruising on Viking....it is our favorite line by far. We are doing the Doral River on one of their river ships this year. Thanks for watching!
Those stairs on the promenade deck - going to level 3 ?? I thought it was all cabins
No, those stair are for the crew and go up to the lifeboats. You have to go inside to go to the other floors.
Doing my first on this ship soon
You will be spoiled with Viking, as they are a great cruise line with great food!! We will be on another one next month up in the Baltic region for two weeks....looking forward to that one!! Thanks for watching and I hope the video gave you some insight!
I’ve done 4 other river cruises with Viking bit this will be my first ocean . Getting very expensive now . Even American Crusie line has gotten costly . Use to get 2/1s including air on Viking but hard to find good deals .
I have one reservation set at Manfredi now. Are there chances to make a second reservation once on board?
Yes, typically it is not too much of a problem. I would try to make another one the minute you get on the ship. If that does not work, there is always a woman stationed at the entrance to the buffet around lunch and she makes reservations - they have a lot of cancelations. We ate there three or four times during the 14 days. Also, if you get tired of the rub they put on the rib eye, you can order it without the rub - it is excellent.
Thanks the quick reply. I enjoyed your video and comments
Thank you for the info. Booked for 2025.
There is no doubt you will have a great time. All of our trips with them have been perfect! Thanks for watching!
Thanks. Is there plenty of vegetarians ?
If you are asking about vegetarian dishes, yes there is plenty of it and they will take good care of you with special requests. Thanks for watching!
What was the destination or itinerary of the Star on your cruise?
We were on a basic repositioning cruise and this one was to see the fall colors. We started in Montreal Canada and sailed on the St. Lawrence River stopping in various ports, then into the Atlantic and headed south stopping in Bar Harbor, Portland Main and Newport RI and ending in Ft. Lauderdale FL. It was an awesome cruise.
Were the seas rolling waves manageable on the smaller ship? I'm concerned about seasickness.@@patsadventures6381
