This album really takes me back to my roots. This album was my first Rush show and it changed me forever. Truly inspiring and magical. I played to this album everyday after school and then played it with bands. It is still a challenge to get it right. This one had one of Neils funniest Cowbell runs. I ended up using the cowbells as a replacement for the wood blocks @ 1:48. This song is so satisfying to play and has a great message about life. I hope you like it. Enjoy! Peace & Love. We need it now more than ever.

Well done Adam. Been playing this one a lot in the past, so watching for the little nuances and you nailed them. Great sound and nicely miced from the kit. Trees and Grand Designs are in my top 6 must plays every time I sit behind the kit.

@@adamjohnston2311 I played for many years but lost feeling in both my thumbs after brain surgery. I was pissed off for a few months but got over it. Never had the heart to sell my kit though, I may go back to it one day. Groove is in your heart, it’s great to see.
Wow! That is such a bummer. I’m so sorry to hear that. I am suffering from a little tinnitus since I started making these videos. It can suck to get old.
I will keep going and making videos as long as I can. It has been great to re learn all these songs I played as a teenager.

Setting aside the phenomenal performance for a second, the focus on recording and mixing that drum kit was phenomenal as well. That's one of the best recordings of a drum sound I've heard that wasn't on a Rush album. Did Terry Brown come over and help? LOL.

Awesome job, on an awesome song. Just wondering, how many times you saw rush in concert, and in what city. I saw them many times from 1981 to '92 in St Louis MO
Thanks Paul. I saw Rush Tours - Hemispheres, Permanent waves, Moving Pictures, Signals, Power Windows, Roll the bones, Grace under Pressure, Hold your fire, Clockwork Angels. All shows were in Los Angeles.

Nice playing, dude! There is something wrong with your snare drum though. It sounds like maybe you have the snares too tight and it is choking off the drum...?

That was my first Rush show. It completely blew my mind. Pat Travers opened for Rush and he was just as good but in an ass kicking way. Just beyond amazing. Top 10 concert of my life. We went out and bought every Pat Travers album after that concert.
