Thanks so much Bob, I’m from Columbus, Ohio and just really starting to do gigs around town. It’s a different sound, not much standards but just feeling the music. I learning to quickest way to enjoy playing without the nerves. Love what you do with the live feeds.

I always knew 3 Up 3 Down as 'Closer' as in A Live Life. Was this song never recorded before?!

Thank you for this Bob! My plan for my 50th birthday this month was to fly to LA to catch your band live. Life threw my family a few curve balls and that didn’t happen. This was probably the next best thing!

Hey Bob! I've noticed that when you are at home in LA you seem to frequently play the Blue Whale and the Baked Potato. I may be way off on this, but I think there is a certain element of improvised music that is similar to that of a magician or a comedian having tricks or jokes (i know this is a way oversimplified way to think, but bear with me for second). I've grown up a Michael Brecker fan and listened to tens of thousands of hours of studio and live recordings over the past 20+ years , and have noticed that, while ever expansive and pliable, he does have his "bag of tricks." My question is that when you find yourself playing the same room quite often or in front of the same people (fans and even staff) does it ever get in your head that "these folks have heard this before" in your approach to soloing over particular tunes, progressions, or styles. If so, how do you deal with this? On the other end of the spectrum, does it feel liberating to be in front of an audience that has maybe never heard your playing before? As a footnote. If there is any validity to my question, how long do you think it will be until the general public can get ahold of those "Men In Black" mind eraser wands? Thanks Bob!

I've been unwell the past few days, the weather is really bad here so my wife and I have been stuck in the house with our three young kids and the cabin fever is starting to kick in. I've been trying to put some time in the shed but I'm struggling to get inspired. This video has really made me feel good, it's so uplifting to hear Bob's music and this band is incredible, I love it. Thank you.

Hi Bob, I am a big fan of your saxophone work. I am getting ready to do a show of my own, and I noticed that your live streams are consistently of very high quality (both video and audio). I am hoping to achieve similar results. Do you have any advice or recommendations about what I can do to make this happen?

haha I like what you said about titling lyricless music. I produce some electronic jazzy kind of music and I sometimes write down potential titles that, at the time, strike me as 'hey, that could be pretty good'. but when it actually comes to naming the music, those ideas always seem terrible and I have to come up with some new, slightly less crappy name.
